Holiday Inn Express Gatlinburg Downtown, an IHG Hotel

Everything was just exceptional!!! I would recommend this place every time!!! It was so clean, everyone, and I mean every employee, was just beyond wonderful!!! This was by far the best stay we have ever had!!! Anywhere!!! The free breakfast was so, so, so good!! So much to choose from!! Sweet Darla, the parrot in the lobby who greets you when you come in!! To the water park/pool area, once again, just so, so, so, wonderfully fun!!! To the 2 small game rooms to occupy the kids!! When we go back to Gatlinburg, we will definitely, for sure be staying here!!! Thank you all from the Goodmans!!

The breakfast was good but it didn’t stay open past 9:30. The staff was amazing, friendly, helpful and very courteous!

The breakfast hours needs to be extended back to the way they used to be open until 10:30 and the pool used to always be open until 11:00 now it closes at 10:00 my child was disappointed by this. The room wasn’t as clean as the last time we stayed for the price we paid to stay there.

Comfortable and caters well to families. As a couple, clean throughout and friendly helpful staff. The hotel location is ideal it’s just off the main strip so quiet enough at night but close enough to walk into town

We loved our room so much we went to add an additional two nights but the cost was steep in comparison to the courtyard Marriott 50ft away. We ended up booking the Marriott instead and have to say that having now seen both in the same week. I would suggest that if you are travelling with children then stay at the holiday inn, you’ll have a great time. If you’re a couple or group of adults, save $ and stay at the marriot across the road.

We've stayed at this hotel for a few years now, and each time it somehow gets even better. We saw a lot of the same faces this year as we did last year. That's unheard of in this industry! They serve a full breakfast each morning including cereals and cinnamon rolls, a meat selection, an egg selection, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, bread and baked good choices, on demand pancakes, juices, milks, yogurt, and a coffee bar. It would be hard to imagine someone not being able to find something they like. We stayed in the queen suite and it is the largest chain hotel room we've ever stayed in. With 5 people in our family, we had plenty of room to spread out. We were just outside of the elevator which scared me but didn't hear any hallway/elevator noise! The shining star, of course, was access to the attached pool area with slides (which I believe is no longer actually run by the hotel). Access is a simple access code and it is open 10a-10p. My kids have LOVED this area from ages 3-12. We spend hours there each day, and that saves us hundreds of dollars on not paying for a separate water park type experience.

My only complaint was that the laundry room smelled so bad that it was almost unusable.

The room was very clean and spacious for my family. The breakfast was great (maybe add bacon) The kids loved the pool area. Overall, the receptionists and other staff were very friendly. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

One thing I would have liked was a larger selection of snacks and drinks. Also, I would look into providing towels at the pool area. We would use what was in our room but there wouldn't be enough dry towels once we all took showers afterwards and we didn't have time to go through room service. Maybe have different towels so that housekeeping would be able to separate the pool towels from the room towels. These are certainly NOT deal breakers that would keep me from coming back, just suggestions.

Breakfast and the pool/water park was great.

They should have prepared a little better for the spring break crowd regarding the pool. It was shut down during our last evening there, and all my kids wanted to do was swim and they couldn’t because the filter/chemicals weren’t correct. The pool should’ve been prepared and checked in before they were expecting so many people to come Through . I chose this hotel specifically for the pool, so it was a bummer my kids couldn’t use it on their last day of vacation.

location is not far from the Main Street.

When I travel around the US I stay often at Holiday inn express and I can say this hotel is not exceptional and also not bad, but the price is high! also staff seems not happy when they smile at you! you can tell it is not a genuine smile! either they are under paid or they have a bad management. as for the town! it is old & I can tell that no new developments took place in decades! old buildings, old infrastructure, old hotels 🏨

The location was close to the attractions and restaurants. We enjoyed the extra large room. The breakfast was delicious (especially the cinnamon rolls). We liked that our room was cleaned daily. Some hotels don't do that.

We did not like that the smoking area was right below are window. People would be out there at 2 AM talking loudly. Also, the beds were too small.

The staff was amazing. They always tried to help and a few went above and beyond. Always a smile on their faces they all looked like the loved their jobs.

The pool area was a bit too muggy. Wish there was better airflow

As you walk into the hotel it was nice loved the bird in the lobby. The gentleman at the front desk was super nice. All the staff was nice and accommodate to all of our needs. The room was spacious which we liked considering there was 5 of us and clean.. The pool area was amazing the kids really enjoyed the water slides. And the location was good. We would definitely stay again.

Can't really say to much except maybe need to dust alittle better. Like headboards and other higher areas.
