Cactus Cove Inn and Suites

This property is under renovation. It will be fantastic once they work out the bugs. We liked that the door opened to the inside of the building. Beautiful indoor pool. Great breakfast. Lovely lighting everywhere. Rooms are spacious. The frig is nice and big. The staff are all very nice and helpful. The breakfast girl was outstanding (it was her first day). Breakfast food is a nice variety and lots of room to sit around and enjoy the meal.

Every time I made coffee in the room, the electrical strip went off. If the TV was on, it went off when I tried to make coffee. We didn't know the power strip went off, and the frig was off all night and all our items were not cold in the morning. The LED lights behind the bed would not go off and we had to call the desk. She came and took care of it, but it was kind of annoying. We are not upset...another thing they must work through. The shower floor is very slippery, needs those adhesive things that provide traction. They ran completely of butter during the breakfast; not a big deal, just an observation.

Price, location, clean. Great breakfast. Big beautiful facility.

Second time I have stay there this month in two different rooms. Everything was very nice except commodes in both rooms needed maintenance. One bad flapper value, other had very loose seat and lid. The rooms have no dead bolt security locks. The rooms have no do not disturb sign! I was walked in on twice with door lock. They have the code and door stop latches don’t work. No dressers draws for clothes. No TV except streaming applications that you have to log in with your own codes.

Bit concerned on arrival as outside looked a bit unkempt. There was work going on outside. The hotel is combined with the Westerner Hotel and this is on the outside but no mention of the Cactus Inn just two intertwined “C’s”. We went past it and had to double back. The inside of the hotel was a different story and we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms open onto indoor space overlooking dining area and pool area. Lots of greenery and plants. Lifts over 3(?) floors. Country and Western music plays in public areas and the rooms are not soundproofed so can be noisy during the day combined with children using pool. Didn’t bother us but if you had to recoup after a long journey I can imagine it could be irritating. Breakfast was excellent with help yourself cereal, toast, yoghurts, waffles etc and a lady served you scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. By far the best free breakfast weve had in two weeks. Staff were friendly and the rooms and spaces were clean. Shower was amazing and toiletries were given.

Found the pillows uncomfortable. Unsure why I received 8 emails shortly after booking all within 15 mins. Because I had no wifi during the journey to hotel I didn’t realise it was self check in. I was sent a code and room number via email to gain access. There was no one on the desk on arrival and I had to wait until someone appeared. It wasn’t until I was given the wifi code that everything became apparent.

This is a comfortable, convenient and pleasant place to relax for a day or two when passing through Amarillo. The price is fantastic compared to most of the lodging options along I-40. The rooms are large and have a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron,ironing board and a comfy bed. The AC unit is a bit noisy but cranks out the chill if you want it. The day I checked it the outside temperature was 102. But the staff had already turned on my AC in advance and I enjoyed a refreshing 68 degrees when I entered my room.

Despite all the pluses I noted, there were enough minor annoyances such that I can only rate this place with Four Stars. There were ample supplies of coffee, creamer, sweeteners, and spoons; yet there were no cups in which to make the coffee. The events of the room at ground level were clean and tidy; yet there were cobwebs hanging on the ceiling above the bed. The rooms all faced out to an interior courtyard and a pool area and unfortunately the noise insulation was not sufficient to keep you from hearing the more enthusiastic guests who were enjoying these inside facilities.

I loved how big it was in the central courtyard. It’s quite impressive. Subtly place mini golf around a fountain, classic 60s design pool area, many live plants encircling the indoor courtyard planted in the raised stone planter areas. the room was quite big too. Also. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. It was such a welcome breath of fresh air after driving all day.

Hard to find. The sign does indicate the name of the property well. It has two C’s, for Cactus Cove, placed at differing angles. The effect is aesthetically very pleasing but does nothing to help the traveler locate the building. The sign does say Cactus Cove in very small letters that one can hardly see until you pull into the property. It looks nice but is a bust when it comes to someone exiting the highway traveling very fast trying to see where the place is. it’s also only a matter of 30 yards or so from the interstate. very loud. also the room was dirty.

We loved the golfing green and the corn toss! There was both a snack and drink vending machine. The staff was amazing and asked us if we needed 2 keys because there were 2 of us and were glad to help in any way anytime! The activities definitelygot people out and away from the tv and rooms so it was really neat to see families and kids and pets walking around. It's so neat to see historical hotels being brought back to life. Price was amazing for all the amenities that are offered.

The pool closes at 8. I wish it was open until 10.. The rooms don't block out much sound.. I could hear people talking in the lounge chairs in the courtyard and in the rooms next to us all night. When we entered our room there was a bar of soap in the toilet so we were like uhh ok whatever it was kinda weird but we just ignored it.

The bed was very comfortable. It was extremely clean and quite. We where given the bridal suite and the shower was outrageous.

The women at the front desk during check in and check out was my least favorite person during my 1200 mile road-trip. She was rude to her co-worker, extremely disinterested in us during check in. So, I figured I’d try at check out when I saw she was still there. She again had no interest in us and I gave the hotel and our room a compliment. If she was going to be rude and disinterested at least she could have dressed nicer.

This was a very pleasant surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for 2 nights at this Hotel, and will definitely come back again. The check-in was very easy. and the staff outstanding friendly and professional. We especially enjoyed the lay out of the rooms and the privacy. The beds were very soft and clean, so we slept very comfortably. Breakfast was very good too. I would definitely recommend this hotel as one to stay at passing through Amarillo Texas. Nothing. Everything was great!

Clean and nicely decorated lobby and lounge area. Great breakfast. Had Roku TV to connect to Netflix, Hulu, etc. Great for the price.

We got unlucky and got an old room (the rooms that show up first in the pictures are the nice, remodeled ones). They may all be remodeled soon? The old room was dirty, the outlets were too large for our chargers, the shower didn’t drain and it smelt like smoke (despite being a nonsmoking room). However, sounds like they’re working to change this.

The room was bigger than I was expecting. There's a nice garden/recreation area inside the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The room was clean but could use an update. The bedside table was water stained and scratched up. The door blinds were broken, cut and looked kinda trashy. The carpet was wrinkled. The pillows on the bed weren't much bigger than a throw pillow. The air conditioner was back in a cubby area and needed to be turned really low temp and on high fan to circulate.
