Smart Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection

The bed in my king studio room was very comfortable. I had driven 6 hours that day and was so happy to sleep in that comfy bed. The room itself had everything I needed, including a full size refrigerator, microwave, plates, glasses, utensils, paper towels and dish soap. The room size was very generous and the sitting area was comfortable with both a couch and chair. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I had the free breakfast downstairs one day and there were plenty of hot and cold choices including scrambled and boiled eggs, yogurt, various breads and cereals. I was visiting people for the weekend and would stay here again. It’s close to many cute shops, antique centers, and eateries to meet up with friends either in Shelburne or Burlington.

There are two Ascend Suite buildings in the same parking lot and google maps sent me to the one that is for extended stays. The actual hotel is the one closest to the highway. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but it can be confusing if you go to the wrong one. The bath soap is awful, bring your own.

Location - It is only 10 minutes from the downtown. Rooms - Rooms are spacious. It's a suite, so you will have the kitchen, living area and a bedroom. They also provide cribs (pack n play) on request. Breakfast - They serve hot breakfast from 7-10 AM. They served waffles, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, cereals, juices, bagels, toast and coffee etc. It was good!! Front-desk staff - They are really helpful and polite.

- Window AC in the room is at a wrong place. If you want to turn on the AC, you need to keep the curtain open otherwise it covers the AC. - Furniture and appliances are old, but that didn't bother us. We were here for a short stay. - Parking can be tricky on busy days.

This is our go to hotel everytime we go to Burlington. We have stayed here numerous times. We were very happy to once again be able to get a room.

Even though we try to always stay here. If a room is available. We stay. It is always the same one small issue that has not been corrected in all the times we have stayed. The water pressure in the shower is always terrible. We have stayed in numerous different rooms on different floors over the years. Always the same problem. With low pressure shower heads now readily available. There is no longer any excuse for this terrible shower water pressure issue to continue to be a blight on this great hotel.

Staff were friendly and welcoming, hotel is clean, and room is large and well equipped.

TV in bedroom needed a PhD to get to work. Not only is TV set up not user friendly, but the remote is AWFUL! Beds are quite hard, and you can actually feel the springs. While the main lobby carpet is updated, the one at least on our floor is very worn. A bit disappointing considering the price.

Bed was big and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Not typically a fan of buffet eggs, but theirs were really good.

Breakfast, parking for my truck trailer. Didn't use it but the kitchenette could have been handy during a longer stay.

The room and the property were clean and in good condition. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and coffee was great.

Bed was not that supportive, but have back condition. Husband was happy with it. Pillows were plentiful and sheets were soft and comfy.

Location

Requested top floor and quite location when booking thru Booking.com; neither request was honored. We were on second floor directly across from the elevator. Manager said they were full and couldn’t do anything about it. When you book your room months in advance why can’t a simple request be honored? Seems like Booking.com reservation requests are ignored a lot of the time…

Generous amount of space. Clean and functional. Whirlpool bath worked well. Kitchen reasonably well stocked.

Room was hot despite chilly temps outdoors -- we ended up leaving the windows open even on a 16-degree night. For a couple of nights, a small dog yapped from midnight til 2 a.m.

The room was well appointed with a kitchen, living area, and king sized bed. We appreciated the full sized appliances, as we stayed for 6 nights with 2 dogs, and were able to prepare meals, and make our fur children feel at home. Also, appreciate that they have washers and dryers for guests to use. The hotel was dog friendly, and plenty of places outside to excercise them. Although many dogs were here, we did not hear nuisance barking.

The room certainly could have been cleaner. We wiped everything down when we arrived to be safe. The bed seemed comfortable, but both my husband and I woke up with backaches every day.

My room had the separate bedroom and it made a difference with how spacious the room was. Also I was very pleased with the small kitchenette that the room had. I did not use it except for the nice full size refrigerator it had. However if I did need to cook something there was cookware, plates and silverware to use. Plus I liked the K-cups.

I do know that at this time some things are limited due to COVID-19. I was disappointed that there was no complimentary breakfast available as I was traveling with kids and would have been helpful to not have to pay for a meal. Also the fitness center was not available. I can understand more about the food but I feel that some effort could have been put forward to allow access to the gym. Not that it was an issue that your hotel does not have one but a pool would have been nice.
