The Reluctant Panther is a beautiful small hotel with wonderful staff. We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival to a beautiful room with a gas burning fireplace. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. The location was perfect in the center of the historic section of Manchester, VT which was nice for walking after breakfast and close to area restaurants. Also, we loved our picnic basket breakfast that we had in the dining room. Our meals were delicious and we'd like to try having dinner there when we visit another time.

I can't think of anything. We will definitely return.

The hotel location is very nice convenient to Hildene and the Lye brook falls as well as amenities in Manchester. The room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nice and was provided in a picnic basket which we were able to take on the patio.

I wish that there were more options for breakfast or at least a rotation of items. We stayed three days and had the same thing each day except for the bakery item which changed each day.

We very much enjoyed our stay at TRP. The hotel staff is kind and attentive, our room was very spacious and super comfortable. The surroundings are quiet and relaxing. The garden and patio offer beautiful vistas of the hilly backdrop. I put “only” 8/10 stars here because we were a bit disappointed by the food options. The breakfast-in-a-basket idea is neat and fun, but what’s inside needs to be ramped up in terms of quality and originality to be on par with standing expectations. We also thought the food and ambiance of the restaurant could be much better, to match or surpass the excellence of other options around, again, for this level of standing. Will we go back? Certainly yes!

Hotel is beautiful , staff fantastic, room spectacular, cookies every day just amazing experience. Breakfast basket -amazing, great choices for all even picky eaters. Loved the restaurant as well ate there twice in our 3 night stay, food was great!!! Loved the bathroom -it was huge !!! The bath tube with jets might be a bit high for older ppl but we loved it. Loved it all , cant wait to come there again.

When I called over the phone prior to arrival to make reservations for dinner at the restaurant I was told there was no availability, and was told we were going to be put on wait list. However upon arrival there were plenty of openings.

The room was bigger than we expected. We had everything we needed including a Keruig coffee maker, wine glasses, luxury robes and towels. We loved the breakfast basket delivered to our door in the morning with more food than we could eat. Everything was fresh and delicious. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating.

The unit we stayed in had a steep flight of stairs. We are healthy and able to do the stairs but it was just difficult with the luggage, etc.

Rooms are comfy , large, nicely decorated, quiet. The bathroom was large. The staff was courteous, friendly and very helpful.

The Panther used to have a small bar area where you could have a preprandial drink and chat. I miss that, though we could sit on the deck which was very pleasant. The picnic basket breakfast is good and convenient ,I guess, because you can eat in your room, the dining room or outside, but I preferred the regular breakfast served in the dining room.

Our first impression upon entering was very welcoming . A tray of house made chocolate treats enticed us as we checked into the hotel. The man checking us in was so friendly and knowledgeable about the area , gave us recommendations on must see/do activities then showed us to our room. The breakfast basket delivered to our door each morning at our desired time was outstanding! It was such a special touch, just loved it. The room was spacious with the added ambiance of a warm double sided fireplace separating sitting area from bedroom. The restaurant was elegant yet had a casual Vermont vibe. Waitstaff was knowledgeable and attentive. Absolutely enjoyed our dining experience. Will definitely return to this property.

My fiancé and I were attending a wedding at the Equinox which is just a 3 minute walk. The Reluctant Panther was upscale and quaint. I think there are only about 10 rooms which makes it special and unique. The attention to detail and personal touch is beyond amazing. They include a fabulous breakfast in the cutest picnic basket ever! The soap, shampoo and conditioner smell invigorating. We received an upgraded room which came as a total surprise. We appreciated it so much because my 4 year old granddaughter who I have guardianship of came along and I hired a relative to babysit while my fiancé and I attended the wedding. What a great impression this made on them. I would highly recommend this Inn. The spa tub was a huge hit! My granddaughter felt as though she had her own little indoor pool with jets. I haven’t been this happy in a very long time! Can’t wait to go back again sometime. I especially liked the escort right to our room and a total walk around telling us where everything was and how to operate the remote and WiFi, etc. no detail left undone.

This is tough since everything was so great. Ok if I had to find one thing it would be the egg in the breakfast sandwich may have been from a carton like powdered eggs. I don’t believe they were freshly cracked eggs. However I’m not complaining because honestly, they don’t even need to do this for free.

The staff was very friendly and efficient. The homemade cookies and sparkling water were a plus. We loved the picnic basket breakfast that was individually to our liking, nice touch.

We had a rather loud dehumidifier unit outside side our bedroom door that ran all night. Granted we arrived after a humid spell of weather.

If you like old world hospitality in luxurious but homey lodging, you’ll love the Reluctant Panther. It’s charming, friendly and feels like you’re visiting a familiar home rather than staying somewhere impersonal. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and charmingly appointed. Breakfast is brought to your room each morning in a picnic basket. The restaurant is one of Manchester’s best fine dining experiences.
