Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Charlottesville Downtown/University Area

It was a great location, one of us walked from the hotel to go downtown and to the university. The staff were friendly and hospitable, accommodating us with an extra blanket when asked. The room was very clean, comfortable, and modern. We really liked the size of the TV. It was very quiet there as well despite being a fairly busy hotel. The parking garage underneath was a good additional perk.

The staff was exceptionally friendly both to myself and when I overheard their interactions with other customers. The gym had a variety of fitness equipment, including ellipticals, treadmills, and weights. There was a nice assortment of both fresh cooked food and fresh fruit along with cereal and yogurt at the breakfast buffet. Lots of space and easy access in their garage.

They need better curtains in the rooms. I had a first-floor room along the street and I don't feel that the sheer curtains provided enough privacy between me and the trucks stopped at the traffic light. I ended up getting dressed in the bathroom.

Excellent, spacious room with 2 queen beds which were supremely comfortable. Great pillows too. New and sparkling bathroom with a spacious vanity bench and shelves, hooks etc. Terrific breakfast was included and had plenty of variety from bananas, fresh-cut fruits chunks, yoghurts, oats and cereals with multiple topping choices , breads, bagels, toasts and spreads, and hot selections too, such as 2 types of egg, bacon, hand rolls or quiches, plus tea/coffee bar. There was some variation each day as well. Breakfast staff were very friendly and obliging too, and regularly checked and topped up food items.

Lack of food choices in the vicinity. Many restaurants in the Downtown mall but by 8.30 when we arrived, there was only a pizza place. Other more formal restaurants were close to closing. Also no diners or delis close by where we could buy meals to heat in our microwave. instant noodles only thing available.

Super friendly staff which gave us a lot of recommendations for trips/restaurants/activities around the area. We stayed here after a longer trip and were very happy to be able to do laundry in a convenient way (staff was again super helpful and friendly). Good breakfast, nothing super special, but sufficient choices available. Always enough parking spaces.

The hotel is very clean. The staff was very pleasant. The bed was very comfortable. I hope to stay here on my next visit.

Room size and cleanliness. The staff were very friendly and helpful. On site parking. I was able to do an early check-in and the staff were very accommodation for that. The lobby and parking garage were also clean. It also was only a few minutes drive to the central area.

The road around the building was small and turning in and out of the parking garage worried me because of blind spots. Odd complaint, but there was only one very small shelf in the shower. It barely held my travel shampoo bottles and bar of soap. The shower was large and clean, but almost no space to put my toiletries.

Large, quiet room, convenient to downtown. very good breakfast choices. Beds very comfortable.

Room door was quite heavy to open for older people, although we understand it is a good fire protection. We wish breakfast was upon until 10am instead of 9:30.

The cleaning people were trying to get into my room at 9 AM. They were knocking and banging on the door and came back 30 minutes later and attempted to open the door. I went to the front staff to inform them and they just looked at me like I did something wrong and said that they were not supposed to start knocking until afternoon. I would’ve given this place 10 out of 10 if it weren’t for that experience

Close to Amtrak railway station 15 min walk with suitcases, 10 min walk to main street, free Trolley to take you around town. Lots of restaurants on Main street. Friendliness of the staff.. just great

Good king room with a beautiful shower. Parking garage was good. Breakfast server worked hard and did the best she could which was available to her. Great location to UVA hospital.

The room was too road noisy. Front desk was a bit overwhelmed at check in, one trainee and the trainer was a bit weak with the English language, couldn't find my reservation until I presented the confirmation number. Did not confirm to my request for a quiet room away from the main street (Cherry Avenue).
