Sonesta ES Suites Charlottesville University

The location was everything for us. It was close to our daughters apartment so she could walk to us. It was also walking distance to UVA campus and a great strip mall. We were upgraded to a 2 room suite and it was everything we needed. I was able to cook a full meal and the room came with every cooking utensil I needed. Will be staying here as long as my daughter is in UVA.

The staircase was dirty, I think it was from people waking the trail and having muddy feet. But the dirty stairs was a disappointment. They did mention being short staffed. Also, our bed didn't have a comforter, when we moved rooms we discovered we should have had a comforter. They had us go get blankets the first time we asked, and brought us blankets the next time.

Our team was there for a tournament. Having a restful night and having everything go as smoothly as possible were important. Sonesta offered that. Staff was accommodating and helpful. The rooms were clean and in perfect condition. Breakfast was fine. It's an easy walk to shops/eateries at Barrack. We could even walk to main part of UVA campus (which was a plus when the roads were blocked for an event).

We could here noises from other rooms -- although very minor.

Room set up ,friendly check in

I was talking off guard when my door room was entered by staff. I couldn't even enjoy the rest of my stay thinking someone was going to burst in my room. And i still don't understand why that happened, Very strange and unprofessional. It was not my check out day and it was after 1 o'clock , and was told they thought i checked out that day. Did not sit well with me at all.

The breakfast was perfectly adequate, with a variety of pre-packaged foods, and two kinds of juice, A hot selection was offered each morning: breakfast potatoes with turkey sausage one day, and hot oatmeal with a lot of toppings the next day. The staff person overseeing the breakfast was very friendly and provided great service.

I don't drink coffee and always start my morning with hot tea. There was no hot water dispenser available at the buffet. However, the staff person there was happy to bring me some from the back when I requested it. I just feel that one shouldn't have to ask for it and take the staff person away from their other duties.

Well when we first arrived , the front desk lady was very nice and made us feel right at home . Check in was very easy . The room was roomy and everything seemed clean with great decor . We had the one bedroom suite which was really nice . Location was great , everything you need nearby walking distance . I like the area a lot . My daughter is a college student at UVA so this was a great spot.

When I entered the room I always do an inspection of my own just because I like things clean , and I found a pill on the floor right next to the window /bed . I felt then that the rooms were not really being deep cleaned as I was told when I asked for a room that a pet hadn’t been in for awhile . I was assured the rooms are deep cleaned but it wasn’t . That was really my biggest issue other than breakfast . That was very disappointing & they only made 1 thing of coffee and some other things that was packaged already. The lady there that served sausage gravy biscuits didn’t really seem like she wanted to be there . She could have been a little friendly considering how friendly and welcoming front desk ladies were . I would love to come back but finding that pill just made me uneasy

The staff at Sonesta was very nice. I was very surprised to find some flowers/Card/Chocolate from the manager waiting in my room for Nurses Week; that really touched my heart. I sent a picture of the gift package I received to almost everybody I know; that’s how happy I felt. It felt good to be appreciated. I couldn’t believe how thoughtful the manager and staff were. I would never forget that, especially after the tough year healthcare workers had. Even without the gift, Sonesta is a Hotel I’ll recommend and stay at again. The lady that coordinated the breakfast service is a sweetheart, she sure I had a good breakfast every morning during my stay there.My Suite was beautiful and met my needs. I liked the double doors that separated the bedroom and the kitchen/sitting area. I have stayed at many hotels, and that was definitely a plus. The kitchen was perfect for me( I like/prefer to cook my own meals). A special thank you to the Sonesta Team for your hospitality. Odile

The room set up was great and the employees were awesome

breakfast was not interesting .. there was one silver dollar pancake left. We left and ate breakfast elsewhere. Rug in hallway was a hazard and my daughter fell and got rug burns. Staff was very helpful bandaging her up

The bed was very comfortable. The room was quiet. Check in and check out went smoothly. Room was clean and suite had nice features; full refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, 2 burner cooktop.

Sofabed mattress was very thin, adequate for child. Breakfast could've offered more fruit options. One day they had oranges. Bathtub was curved, so if you have balance issues, be careful!

Location is perfect. Place is clean and great for the price. They have everything you might need for an extended stay. Staff is super kind and accommodating. Vince was super. We will definitely stay again if we are back in Charlottesville.

Pull out sofa bed was okay but as expected, not too comfortable. Very thin mattress, felt the springs. Maybe a better mattress topper would help. They did have it made and ready for us. The pool water was clean but the pool itself needs some attention. Maybe a good scrub. Did enjoy it though on the hot July day. Everything was good for the price. Breakfast was decent. Very basic and continental which was good for most. We decided to go out to eat and there are many great options close by. First Watch was our choice!

Comfy and spacious suites (a bit outdated)

The breakfast was not good. The hot options they serve, which vary each day, for instance scrambled eggs and sausages are not freshly made but simply heated up, it tasted and looked pretty naughty.
