The exterior looks like a typical motel, but when you step in, the decor is historic, and impressive. The person we checked in with was very helpful, and she took time to explain the history of this property as an old silk mill. She also upgraded our room without extra charge, and it was very kind of her. The location is convenient, and it's in walking distance to many historical attractions and restaurants.

The breakfast was simple continental. We requested an upstairs room, and could manage with our luggage. But there is no elevator. The room doesn't have a coffee maker, but it has a small refrigerator.

The Inn is located on the northern part of the historic part of Fredericksburg. It's about a 10 minute walk to downtown, but close to the canal path and one of the historic residential areas if you like to walk. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Do note this is an old building--that's the charm of it. Be prepared for squeaky wooden floors and antique furniture filling the bill. There is no elevator/lift. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable, the bathroom more than adequate, and while I never saw a thermostat control the temperature of the room was fine. The breakfast room was a little warm and had just basic offerings of fruit, yogurt, cereals, and prepackaged muffins.

All was as expected.

This is such a lovely place, the outside doesn't do justice to the gorgeous interior. We were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome while there. Our room was spacious and clean. The breakfast is simple continental and self service but has all you need. Location is superb, an easy walk to downtown Fredericksburg with all its little shops and cafés, and within even easier reach there are restaurants and bars. The Red Dragon Brewery is worth a visit!

The only things we didn't like so much were the very creaky bed and the hot water taking over 10 minutes to heat for a shower. You are warned about the water and it's due to the age of the pipes so nothing can be done about that though. Minor points in an otherwise fabulous place.

It was clear from the beginning of the booking process, to the check-in, and throughout the stay that the Olde Silk Inn staff was there to make our stay something special. And the property itself, with it's unique settting and antique furnishings, added to the charm and mystique. You can always stay at a simple average hotel, but when visiting an historic city like Fredericksburg do yourself a favor and stay at an Inn that is truly reflective of the Town's history. You will not be disappointed.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size. The location was perfect for all we wanted to do in Fredericksburg, and there was parking. A selection available at breakfast.

The aircon is operated centrally, and we found that we woke in the night quite warm. There was no lid to the toilet in our bathroom.

The staff was friendly and the checkin process was straightforward. The atmosphere was wonderful and antique. They were transparent about every drawback associated with antique living, and none were unreasonable.

The bed was somewhat uncomfortable and its sheets came undone because they were not tucked properly-- the appearance of this damaged mattress protector was unsavory.

Rooms could use a little loving but were clean and quaint. Breakfast upstairs was just a few things, fruit (apples, oranges) , cereal, milk, bagels and Danish. Alot of steps for my husband but he managed. Staff were all exceptionally nice and helpful.

Tons need a little updated paint and a bit of repair but otherwise quaint.

We were very pleased with the Inn and the staff was excellent- very professional, courteous and helpful. The entire property was very nice, well appointed and conveniently located. The breakfast was nice - I personally would have like a small protien protein offering as I am diabetic, but was able to find a good light meal from what was provided.

Loud motorcycle noise from the roadway wasnt pleasant- but subsided about bedtime.

It's a historic building with a lovely lobby and great event space in the back.

The only issue is that the room has very poor sound proof, which is understandable as it's a historical building. However unless you're a very heavy sleeper, all kinds of noises may wake you up at night (cars on road, people walking through corridor, doors, people upstairs, other people's alarm clocks, etc.).

A little different than you average overnight hotel. A old mill building turned into a hotel maybe not for everybody but fun. Great location walkable to downtown Fredricksberg which has some great restaurants and night life.
