Selina Cancun Laguna Hotel Zone

Location is the best aspect which makes this place cost effective, close to the main nightlife from Cancun hotel zone and in the border of the Laguna with some incredible view (just watch out the crocodiles). Common area of the hotel and the pool are pretty nice and beautiful. And the free classes they offer are also something outstanding. The vibe of the people and the place are just amazing! I haven't got any but the tattoo shop is something really interesting.

Cleanliness of the accommodation (floor, fan, ac, bathroom) is something they got to improve but nothing disgusting. And also the condition of the lockers is something that should be hard to control but can also improve.

The garden in this hotel is so beautiful and well maintained with a relaxing view to the lagoon. The bar and pool area is very chilled and overall the place has a great vibe. You can see iguanas and birds while having breakfast in the bar/pool area.There is a morning yoga and meditation class led by a wonderful lady. The place is arty, chilled and a great value for money in a great location. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. The bed was big and very comfortable. The staff were good.

The only issue was the very low pressure in the shower and just warm water instead of hot water.

Room was very dark. Overall design/decor could do with a little update in the rooms. Poor shower design (floods the bathroom). Expensive to get to/from by taxi (but taxi's are a rip off everywhere in this area). Anyone reading this tyring to figure out how to get to/from here: Getting to the ADO bus station costs 500 pesos by taxi. If going to the airport it should be 700 (I'd recommend going directly by taxi - much quicker and about the same price, or cheaper if travelling with others).

The hotel is well situated right in the middle of town where there are many restaurants and bars. There are a lot of different places to hang out, by the pool, on the grassed area and other areas available. The bar by the pool was nice with some music playing. The staff were also quite helpful with the questions we asked, always smiling and friendly.

The pool was a bit cloudy so I made sure not to put my head under, but other than that we had no real complaints about the hotel. Cancun in general is quite expensive for food, drinks and activities, but that became apparent at all of the touristy places in Mexico. If you want more affordable places, check out the centro area or places out of town. The beach this time of year is covered in sea-weed and smells, so didnt bother going swimming there, but did take a boat over to Isla Mujeres which was beautiful.

🧳check-in: we arrived during a change of shift (10pm) and had to wait 20 min to check in with the night staff. That’s unfortunate… 🎧 If you’re sensitive to noise, we would recommend bringing earplugs to sleep better. You will hear everyone coming back and forth in their rooms, échos in corridor and the music from the bar. 🛌 the bedroom was well decorated but basically equipped (no wardrobe). The cleaning service is quite late (4-5pm). The front door was hard to open/close and the issue was not solved during our stay.

1.- The internet connection at the co-working space was AMAZING. For 2 days I had to do some on-line work and meetings for and they have 2 no-noise phone cabins for that purpose. I had no problem AT ALL. They also have coffe and tee for free at this co-working space. I stayed at the 7 building and WiFi internet connection was PERFECT. 2.- Pre-paid breakfast is OK, it could be a bit more generous. It was just coffe, a couple of options as main course and a tiny side dish (potatoes). 3.- If you're looking also a place close to the party area in Cancún, this is the spot. There's a supermarket close to it and restaurants as well.

It is ok for a couple of days or if you will use it just for sleeping.

The hotel is pretty comfortable, fairly clean, my room was cleaned everyday, I appreciate it. The facilities were good. Nice location, right next to the club area, grocery store, all kinds of restaurants. You can get tours at the hotel, there's a little store open 24/7, personnel is nice. I'd come stay there again.

My room was tiny though, could use a hanger, like a rack for clothes and a table or something, because there was nowhere I could put my clothes. Bathrooms were not cleaned everyday. It was pretty bad at some point. My windows could use blackout curtains because a)Other people could see me in my room, b)in the morning the Sun hit me right in the face. The restaurant workers were nice but kinda slow. You can wait for your drink for a while, not to mention your food would arrive 30 minutes after you order.

Location is just perfect. Old rooms though clean, with white towels and white sheets and good everyday cleaning. Unexpectedly beautiful territory, big (far from perfect) pool, kitchen.

Common kitchen is without air conditioner, what makes it rather difficult to be there; quite shabby furniture; sometimes not enough plates, etc. Surely not all guests leave everything clean, so buying disposable ones is a good choice. Doors in the room are far from sound-proof, so that's difficult to fell asleep before all guests return from parties...

It’s a fantastic hostel and we felt very comfortable. very nice pool, nice common areas in general. staff is friendly and helped us out quite a bit. We even extended our stay and the reception staff was very accommodating.

The kitchen is quite disappointing. No real cutlery, just plastic. Not one proper knife in sight… to chop vegetables or whatever else. Very tricky to cook here. Also, the coworking space is paid extra, which is quite disappointing too and a little deceiving since it’s heavily promoted as part of the hostel everywhere. What ends up happening is tons of people working from the common spaces, that can no longer be comfortably used for what they were intended (Kitchen, library, yoga deck… etc) And I do sympathize with them, because I had to work too… I just had a private room so I could work from there. Only reason why that was solved for me.
