The Hotel is part of the Prinsentuin, a marvelous little rose garden with an beautiful sun clock. The room we had gave us a direct view on the garden. The room is modern, the bed and the bedsheets were some of the best quality ever encountered in a hotel. The cherry on top of the cake was, that all beauty products were from "Acqua di Parma", so the whole room had a nice smell. For future stays in Groningen I will not hesitate, to book another time a room in this hotel. The friendly and professional staff needs a special mention too, rarely I have experienced so dedicated professionals in a hotel.

To find a flaw I have to be picky and it’s a flaw that has all the same origin. Since this is an historic building there is no air conditioning, that’s o.k. But then you cannot open all of the windows since two out of three are permanently closed with screws and the last one you also can open only half the size. To cope that, there is an ventilator in the room, but it’s a little bit too noisy to be of use. Fortunately for us the temperature was not that high, and it did not bother us. But if you suffer from heat and you visit in summer, you should take that into account.

The hotel was located in a quiet corner of Groningen old city. It is a former monastery that is surrounded by gardens and within walking distance of the Martini Tower and the old town. I really enjoyed my room that had a great view of the garden. It was spacious and comfortable and had a great bathroom attached. I also enjoyed the minibar which was included. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is spread out so staff were very happy to show us to our room. However, it was a bit confusing for us as we always cut through the restaurant on our way out so do orient yourself first. It was a pity that the book about this historic hotel was available in Dutch only. It will be great to have an English version of this book which discusses the history of this hotel.

Both the hotel and the room were outstanding and we liked the mix of the old and modern style which was very fitting to the hotel. The room itself was very spacious and we had a lovely view of the so-called Prinsentuin - the park adjacent to the hotel - which is also a famous sight of Groningen and which we would highly recommend to check out. The breakfast buffet was beyond our expectations, with many options of spread, juices, pastries etc. to choose from. We also tried one of their restaurants (brasserie) and were very satisfied with the service and food. The hotel and restaurant staff were very friendly and professional and made us feel like home. A nice touch to our stay was the fact that we could rent bikes from the hotel for free plus we had a little bar in our room with complementary drinks and snacks that were being refilled everyday. The hotel is located close to the center of Groningen and all of the sights are within reach either by foot or bike. All in all, we loved our stay here and we would always choose to stay here again when back in Groningen.

Nothing to complain about! :)

Prinsenhof is in a prime location and looks beautiful in the night light. The room was spacious and the staff was friendly. There was a generous and delicious selection of pastries, cold meats, cheeses, and fruit for breakfast. Check in and check out were very simple and streamlined.

For the price, the room amenities were limited. There was no hand cream in the toilet and although the minibar was complementary, the selection was disappointing - only water and coke for non-drinkers. The in-room couch cushions had not been cleaned and there was some stuff between the cushions showing that it had not been cleaned thoroughly.

Having first stayed at De Prinsenhof in 2015 it's long been my ambition to return: an ambition hindered by the Covid pandemic but at last on the fourth attempt it proved possible and I was able to introduce family members to its charms. At my request I was delighted to occupy the same room as previously and I was touched by the personal, handwritten note of welcome I found in that room. The hotel was all that I remembered so fondly and it was a delight to return there.

I can't think of any way in which our visit could be improved as the quality of the accommodation, the service and the hospitality of all staff was of the finest.

The room was quirky and lovely, the location couldn't be more central - everything within walking distance, breakfast buffet delicious in the sunlit former chapel with stained glass windows. The historic buildings and location were beautiful and fascinating.

The only downside really was the parking situation - valet parking is available but pricey and the more affordable option is a 600m walk away. But I think that just is the trade-off when you have a mediaeval building in a central location.

I liked everything about the Prinsenhof Hotel. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The bedroom was so clean and beds extremely comfortable. Food was delicious. However, above all, I have never stayed in a hotel where staff were so pleasant and always smiling. Even on check in the lovely friendly receptionist showed us to our room and carried a case for us. Amazing WOW all round. I was so sad to leave but will be back sooner rather than later.

Exquisite old building, beautifully restored with high quality materials - a feeling of true luxury and being pampered. Incredibly comfortable bed, great bathroom and shower and also, many complementary items, such as tea, coffee and even wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and warmly recommend this hotel.

The only small thing i would mention was the fact that the blinds, though very lovely and stylish, did not sufficiently darken the room. At half past 5 it was difficult to get back to sleep because of the light. Also, free bottles of shampoo etc as well as rather a big piece of soap in the loo are quite unnecessary as well as polluting.

Very special hotel in this ancient mansion. Cool interior design throughout the hotel and the rooms. Our room was very large with comfortable rooms & beds. We had a great dinner and breakfast in the former mansion chapel! The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Being an old building and our room under the roof, the ceiling was a bit too low for me. I am 1,90 m tall and had to watch my head in certain parts of the room.

I am incredibly picky when it comes to hotels - especially cleanliness - but this hotel was stunning. Spotless throughout: rooms, sheets, bathrooms. Very comfortable, and feels like a luxurious stay. Everything you could need down to slippers and robes. Staff are friendly, 24hour reception is a bonus. Building and rooms gorgeous. Our room looked out over the stunning Prinsentuin garden. The location is unbeatable in a quiet nook in the centre of town. Absolutely perfect.
