The Market Hotel

The hotel is in the city center, some rooms have a great view for the market hall. The room is big enough and the facilities were good. The best thing was the breakfast, very delicious and rich menu.

Although the photos of Double Room has a city center view, it is not. I paid additional cost to upgrade the room from Double Room to Superior Double Room.

Brand New Hotel in an Ideal Location with Green Space, Restaurants, Services, outdoor Markets and Shopping. Traditional Dutch Historic Surroundings, Canals, a nearby Red Light District, and convenient to city transport and to highways should one wish to drive their own car. Parking is next door and is not a part of the hotel, but is quite convenient. The hotel's own Restaurant and Bakery and Gelati Shop are A++ and is highly recommended. Staff & Front Desk Manager - we cannot say enough positive about all of them. Always wanting to help and very communicative, with follow up to ensure 'happy'. Helpful for area information and directions to finding what you might be looking for. Oversized tubs in the rooms, and constant hot water.

The stay was made Perfect by all Staff and their responsiveness, and helpfulness.

Location is excellent in the city centre, staff is very friendly and the whole house very modern, quiet and clean. Stayed at the hotel just a day after they opened, but everything already worked smoothly. Coffee machine (Nespresso) on the room. Very good breakfast (due to Corona currently served to the room, orders taken on the evening before). Did not try sauna and wellness areas or rooftop terrace.

No problems at all. The app for food/drink orders to the room services has some hicc-ups, but staff is able to help out and solve quickly.

Very stylish hotel with friendly and attentive staff! The room was super comfortable, we had everything we needed and felt pampered. It was a beautiful room with a fantastic view of the market. The soundproofing in the room was really good, the market was quite busy with people chatting and vehicles but once the window closed it was silent. We slept great. Loved the huge bathtub in the room and the saunas in the spa.

It was a little difficult to find the lobby entrance due to the construction.

Fabulous stay! I couldn't have asked for anything more! The room was clean and modern with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was stylish and quite frankly beautifully designed. It was very well located on the market square and walkable distance to everything. The term "service with a smile" couldn't ring more true here. Every employee we met from the front desk to those serving breakfast were friendly, helpful and honestly seemed just happy to be there.

Super friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room with beautiful view of the Grote Markt. Spacious (rain) shower with separate toilet. Comfy bed. USB socket next to bed.

The balcony was a bit weird: when you're staying with 2 people you can enjoy the balcony and the beautiful view, only there's a huge wall in between you. The room was a bit warm during the night, which I wasn't able to change with the thermostat. And the pillows were a bit too soft for me.

Huge, fresh variety of food for breakfast. Afternoon food on the terrace was delicious, all staff were so professional, very well presented and had excellent top notch customer service. The room was very comfortable, extremely clean and it was very efficient. The small things like reusable toiletries, energy efficiency, air conditioning, easy to use safe and the privacy door that slides across to separate the bathroom from the sleep zone were all really well appreciated - as were the wooden cards for access to the room. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were always so polite and cheerful. The location is amazing. Direct bus to the railway station, or a 15 minute walk on even ground. We ate at the hotel and the fried fish in particular was really tasty. We ate out at other venues and never had a bad experience. We loved the boat tour, the Museum was amazing. The Forum is so interesting and we really enjoyed the Maak Festival (craft market) and the Swingin’ Groningen music Festival.

I think the entry door mat at the main entrance should be cleaned more often, after a couple of hours it gets very dirty and is not the best first impression. I would have liked an email to advise us of the Swingin’ Groningen Festival and Maak Festival - we just stumbled upon those events but they were so good.

Great location in the city centre. The hotel is only a couple of years old, so everything felt still new and fairly unused. Our room was facing the Forum, which was nice as the market side was a building site. Good size room, very comfortable beds and lovely walk in shower. Breakfast offered a good variety of food: different breads, dairy products, pastries, bacon, eggs etc. I would come again.

All in all everything was good. The price of the stay was quite high compared to other local hotels.

Perfect location in the Centre of Groningen; very close to a wide range of facilities, restaurants, shops and things to do; excellent restaurant with superb organic coffee and excellent breakfast with flexibility for vegan requests; Jelle is a wonderful breakfast host!

The bathroom facilities are great but could do with a few more hooks and rails for towels; similarly the wonderful glass wardrobe could do with a few more hangers; and you could possibly consider putting in international electricity connections on the desk electricity panel (or provide adapters)

1) The location situated in city centre, all the sights are within walking distance & many good restaurants nearby. 2) Spacious room with great design, comfy bed & love the big pillows (X2), room slippers is provided too. 3) staffs are helpful & attentive to our need, ie helping to print the boarding pass & luggage tag, helping us to book the taxi to Flix bus stop in advance; also ‘teaching’ is to take bus no1 to the places that we wanna visit (initial plan is to take taxi) and the front desk staff even go extra miles to show us the correct bus stop. 4) Breakfast with great variety, love the tuna spread & all the variety of nuts prepared for yogurt, as I am not a yogurt person but I had it for 2 consecutive days. Last but not least, we have the opportunity to use the Royal Delft tableware during the breakfast!

nothing, but small matter to point out- our hand & bath towels was not replenish after the room service (only replenish with a towel & floor map), but issue resolve as we request from the staff directly.
