Hotel Zurigo Downtown

Fantastic location, great breakfast and very helpful staff. Coffee-making facilities at the end of our corridor. Bar fridge in room. Ice and glasses willingly provided on request.

Very noisy. Traffic, car horns, rev heads in cars with loud exhausts, we had the lot. We were in what was described as a garden view room, but there was no garden, only a large paved area used by delivery vehicles and close to the main road. Prior advice about which buses to catch, from where and in which direction, would have saved the drama about locating the property. Google maps were somewhat helpful, but if we had been told to catch the No 2 or 4 bus to Lugano Central we wouldn't have wandered around in circles. No matter, we worked it out in the end. Other properties have been much more precise in their directions. Also, receiving long emails entirely in German when they knew we were Australian, was plain dumb.

Location was perfect within a block of the lake and right across the street from the bus station. You also get the Ticino ticket with your stay. However, we had to have the kind lady at the desk print it out because booking.com didn't send the voucher....until the day we checked out. It allows free public transportation and discounts to area attractions. Free breakfast was decent, mostly continental. They had scrambled eggs and barely cooked bacon available. The room was clean and had a cute little balcony.

The pillows were absolutely awful! The bacon needs to be cooked. I don't fault them much on this as most folks there don't eat it, but it was basically raw.

Location is excellent with five minute stroll to the vernacular at the railway station. The main squares are within several minutes stroll as is the beautiful lake. Staff were very friendly and professional and room cleanliness and crisp linen were exceptional. The hotel had an old world feel with furniture pieces that enhanced the vibe of the hotel. Thank you for an excellent stay.

The hotel was right across from bus depot and an easy walk to most everything. Lovely breakfast with a good selection of both hot and cold items. The staff could not have been more helpful. I especially liked the lounge area on the third floor where my whole family could gather.

While grandparents room was quiet, the larger jr suite was plagued by noise from the big music festival nearby. The air conditioning did not seem to be working efficiently which necessitated the open windows.

The hotel is centrally located with secure underground parking. It is modern and exceptionally clean. Even though we had a large dog, we were upgraded to a newly renovated room that was both spacious and comfortable. However, the outstanding feature of the hotel was the staff. The very kind lady on reception was extremely friendly and helpful and gave the impression that she genuinely wanted hotel guests to enjoy a memorable stay. Nothing was too much trouble. This is now our go-to hotel in Lugano.

We liked everything

Well designed room with lots of surface space. Particularly comfy bed. Air conditioning really did work. Natural light bathroom. Hot water and WiFi fine. Adequate breakfast. Seating in shaded garden. Coffee machine on landing was much appreciated.

Curtains weren't fully light tight. Adjacent to busy road.

Great location, just cross the road and you are at the beginning of the city center. Got a newly renovated room, all modern and clean. Staff was very friendly, nice breakfast. You will have to pay for parking, but at least the parking garage was right under the hotel, and we felt our car was safe. They even let us stay there during the our departure day even though we had already checked out if our room. So we could explore the city without need to re-park for a few hours

We booked a double room for two adults plus one toddler. I had listed our toddler during the booking process via Booking.com but she didn’t show up in the hotel system. Luckily, this was not an issue at the end.

Location is great. Easy to commute around Lugano. Clean room with coffee machine and complimentary small bottle of sparkling wine. Hotel provides 2 pillows for each person which is great!

Bed is a little hard, but managable. As the hotel is next to main road and central bus station, we could hear traffic sound in the morning. We have read reviews on this and still chose this hotel because of its convenient location.

Our room on third floor was great. We were lucky enough to be upgraded. As far as we know, some (or most) of the rooms on this floor were refurnished. Ours (312) was great: lot of space, large bathroom, comfortable bed and plenty of storage. Soundproofing was better that on the first floor and we slept very well. Don't hesitate to book it. We received all needed info for sight-seeing (i.e. Ticino Tickets) and the best advantage of this hotel is the central location (two minutes' walk for Piazza della Riforma (restaurants, tourism office) / close to piers for boat cruises / in front of the main bus stations (i.e. Monte Bre, Gandria, ...) / close to shopping area). If you can have a place in the hotel parking, it's perfect (large space and direct lift to floors). No need to use car in Lugano.

Place for breakfast lacks charm but lady in charge was really friendly

The location is perhaps the best feature of this hotel. Just off the lake and very close to Parco Ciani. Great hotel for family. It was very quiet. Restaurants around the hotel are within 2-5 minutes of walk, some are even just across the street. The elderly lady at the front was very kind. She let us park our car for free (for coupe of extra hours) even after we checked out. There is a younger lady (blonde hair) at reception/food area. She is very nice too. Great service with a smile. We had breakfast included in our pricing. The only suggestion would be to improve the quality and variation in breakfast. Nothing to complain. Will recommend highly to anyone. I will rebook without any hesitation if I visit Lugano anytime in future.
