YHA Byron Bay

Well-run hostel in a great location. Everything you need in easy walking distance. I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm with ensuite bathroom. Modern part of the hostel. Curtains on bed, power outlets and light. Really enjoyed the air-conditioning in the room and having our own bath with shower and toilet separated. Quiet nights. Common spaces were also great. Liked the open air outdoor area with roof, large kitchen, swimming pool, and internet room for late hours. wifi was pretty good everywhere, however it's not pw protected. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Common spaces were cleaned regularly.

Would be great to have more outdoor drying racks or even racks within room to hang swimsuits, towels, laundry. Our bath hasn't been cleaned in a couple of days.

YHA is a perfect spot for a younger person/couple looking for a safe & convenient place to stay. The pool was great, as is the kitchen/dining area which was large, spacious and had nice seating options overlooking the pool. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hostel is secure - you have to have a key card to get into the building, and our private room was very comfortable. We used the car park which was easy and fairly good value considering the area.

The only things that would have enhanced our stay would be more seating around the pool area & a bar or something that would encourage more socialising. Our room was compact but we had no issues. The window was quite small but we didn’t expect incredible views at the price we paid.

Great hostel atmosphere with spacious cooking & lounge area plus a nice pool, walking distance to the beach and good restaurants, Woolies is just around the corner as well, wifi worked very well, sufficient charging opportunities in the room locker + bed area, bed curtains provided sufficient privacy, nice staff, lots of things to do (i.e. cheap yoga classes, inland trips, surf classes, etc.), luggage storage provided on checkout day, nice & clean showers (stayed in a 4 bed female dorm with ensuite bathroom), beds were super comfy - slept like a baby!, close walking distance to the bus terminal

beds are a bit shaky when you move up and down or turnaround at night, all else was perfect!

The location is great. The hostel itself if very nice and chill, a lot of plants inside and the fact that the kitchen and dining areas are on a covered terrasse outside is amazing. Really nice to be able to eat outside! There was also a lot of space on the kitchen and in the dining area. And the staff is so so nice! They are very helpful.

The rooms are nice but there should be hangers outside of the rooms to leave our towels and swimsuits to dry with fresh air, since we cannot put them on the rails and ramps outside. When 9 people sleep on a room, the air isn’t very fresh so the towels don’t dry, + they stink. Also, the bathrooms were not very clean and there was mold and holes on the showers ceilings. But those are just details and the place was very nice!

Good value for money. I spent 1 night in a double room and 2 nights in a twin room, both were good, especially the double room was spacious and well equipped. Aircon worked well and beds were comfy. Friendly staff. Big kitchen and hangout area and pool. At night it was mostly quiet, even though I stayed over the weekend. I slept well.

Door to the luggage storage room was continuously open, everyone would just be able to come in and take any bag. No luggage tags etc. Most people at the hostel were very young (20-22), so being a bit older sometimes made me feel out of place.

Great location, awesome outdoor common area / kitchen. made so many friends and would recommend! Nice clean pool and planned activities every now and then.

The rooms without ensuite’s don’t have aircon are get quite hot / stuffy with just a fan. power points are only accessible to people on bottom bunks so can’t charge your phone from the top bunk, also no curtains or private light but it was fine, didn’t bother me in the end. The Aircon rooms with the ensuites are also much nicer and have lights, curtains and power points on all beds.

Staff were super friendly and accommodating. YHA was in a fantastic location, close to some great cafes and short drive to local attractions. Facilities were great. Sadly we only stayed for a night as a family travelling through, but would love to stay again another time. Pool and kitchen/dining areas looked amazing! Our family room was comfortable and overall clean. Bedding was comfortable. Would highly recommend for anyone to stay here.

The only small minor detail was at times the door to the room did not want to shut easily and had to be pushed shut a little harder, which we were concerned about waking or disturbing others. Also the shower door didn't shut properly. These are such minor details which did not affect our stay, nor would it deter us from ever staying again.

We had a private double room which was immaculately clean and the bathroom a very good size. The beds were comfy and there was tea/coffee facilities available. It was in a great location, only a short walk to the beach with plenty of shops and restaurants around. It's also a good location for the Greyhound bus if you're catching that. The staff were friendly and approachable, and there was a lovely little pool. Would definitely stay again.

We didn't use the kitchen much, only for cereal in the morning but found it to be a bit messy. People don't seem to clean up after themselves much which isn't really the hostels fault.

YHA Byron was kept very clean with good facilities available. The 4 bedroom had curtains around the beds for privacy, with nice en-suite toilet and shower The kitchen was nice and big, plenty of room for lots of people to cook at once The breakfast was really nice, plenty of healthy options The hostel had an activities desk where you can book activities in Byron, with discounted prices The staff were really friendly and welcoming.

my favourite hostel in Australia so far, the social areas were great, the pool was perfect and the staff were exceptionally nice. place has a really homely feel to it. we were also lucky enough to get a room with en-suite (4 bed) which was exceptional. to note we were not aware this is what we booked it seemed to be luck if you get one of these rooms.

BBQ needs to be fixed and cleaned and the fridges were disgusting- they need to be cleaned and sorted out
