Our stay in the Royal Hotel was good value. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beds and pillows were comfortable. We had the one ensuite room which was great. Also the shared bathrooms were clean and had 2 showers each. Hot water was good. Heaters in the room kept us warm. Wi-Fi was okay. No big problem with pub noise. The pub downstairs was friendly and the food was ample and abundant. Good pub food. It is interesting that we had read quite a few negative reviews about this pub before we went there. This was not our experience at all. Everything was positive.

Warm clean rooms and amenities. Loved the kitchenette area, so practical and appreciated. Beautifully renovated, lovely place to stay and visit surrounding areas.

Door into ladies' bathroom opens inwards and directly to where you stand when stepping out of showers naked... a bit daunting if you step out when someone is walking in, direct line of sight to corridor and other people's rooms! Suggestion: Need a chair or somewhere to place clothes, towels etc in bathrooms, otherwise it all gets wet or has to go on floor. There are two hooks inside cubicle are somewhat within range of water, unless you point shower head to wall.

Located in the middle of town on the main street. Great pub downstairs with good food. Noise didn't travel up to accommodation. Showers were nice and hot. Bathroom was kept clean during stay.

Found hair in the sheets, but staff were pleasant and assisted to give us new sheets. The women's shared bathroom had two showers and a toilet to share with everyone staying there. The shower cubicles didn't have a place to put your clothing which wasn't in the public space.

We enjoyed the spacious family room, all updated and very clean. Also great to have the common use area with nice dining tables, updated but still using old pub features. Small kitchen with coffee and cereals etc even toast and jam, fridge abd microwave and coin washer ! All we needed plus a bonus tv room with fire and lounge ! The staff where absolutely super all of them so friendly and helpful, including for dinner at night ( downstairs pub is also very updated and modern still lovely old features and log fire) food was great too ! Would recommend and come back anytime.

Only one toilet per gender might be a issue if busy or urgent ;) but wasn’t for us. Could also go downstairs I guess.

The staff members were all friendly without gushing. They were helpful, polite and smiled a lot. I appreciated the kitchenette very much. The cleanliness was astounding for such a charming but old place.

I would have liked a comfy chair in my room. I wish the floor didn't creak but I don't know what could be done about that so just accepted it.

The location is great and it helped having a restaurant right below! The showers were hot and roomy.

The hallway floor is very creaky so everyone woke up as soon as a few guests left at 4am. The room could do with a ceiling fan and the top bunk bed ladder went straight into the ceiling light. The shared bathrooms were fine but I think they each need more than one toilet.

A typical old country pub that has been tastefully updated. Our room had an ensuite which was a bonus. Very clean & tidy room with access to a lounge with TV, kitchen and laundry. The Bistro & Pub decor was beautiful and the food was outstanding. We had the lamb cutlets (3) one with chips and salad and one with mashed potatoes and veggies. There was so much on our plates. Very reasonable and great value for money. The beer was cold and refreshing after a day out exploring. We will be back to stay again.

Warm and friendly. The room was clean and warm and shared bathroom was impeccable. The bustro downstairs was lovely and we had lovely meals there. We will definitely come back.

Only small downside was the plugpoint in room was under bed so extension ended up in between beds with a lot of wires for electric blankrts etc. My kids kept tripping over it and i worried about the safety of it.

Being a pub stay I was unsure how that would go but it was very comfy, basic, clean could be very hot in dead of summer as no aircon, and I was surprised that we had a ensuite, which was nice but the share bathrooms were like new and very clean (separate Male and Female). Dinner in the pub was lovely great food large portions. Right in the main street so easy walk to the cafe for breakfast

Nicely renovated. Clean room and facilities. Friendly staff. Spacious dining room. Great central location. Great place to eat too.

Hardly any teaspoons when making tea and coffee Only one toilet in ladies bathroom. No locks on shower doors. No lamps in room for softer lighting.
