Strathfield Hotel

Noise was not a problem at all. The heater was very effective and the beds really comfortable. Just one thing. We could have done with two keys as our schedules were different although having said that we didn’t actually ask for a second one. On arrival the staff member was really helpful. We are an older couple and he carried our heavy bags upstairs willingly. Big shopping center just 15mins easy stroll away. The hotel restaurant served perfectly adequate food in generous proportions and prices were good. Great local food at the shops under the subway too. Loved the stained glass, sash windows and quirky toilet flushers….great toilet paper too! Washing machine and drier were a bonus. Good water pressure and lovely and hot. If you are okay with basic and like a bit of history this is a great place. Would certainly stay again. Jude, New Zealand.

As I mentioned, another key would have been good. Also a teaspoon. Pretty minor things.

It was about $80 for the night i think. So i didn't expect polished brass and an ensuite. But it was great for the price and exceeded my expectations. A hotel room for me is pretty much to sleep in when in a town or city so it suited me perfectly. Nearby is a lot of real Asian dining the other side of the station. The hotels food is also good. The beds were older but comfortable and spotlessly clean bedding. A great stay and the staff adjusted my booking when i came back a day early with nocomplaints.

Nothing it was fine

Very central location at a brilliant price. I had to come back a day earlier and although understandably some of the staff were unsure how to change the booking with 24hrs notice. When I arrived they agreed to do it for me. Close to many Asian food spots locally. Train 50 ft away. Staff are polite.

OK this is a great place to stay. However no lift so if you're challenged physically I would phone 1st maybe they can do something or carry bags? Parking is challenging although one time they let me park in the bottle shop on request. These are not bad remarks just a couple of things to think about for travellers

Was a good location & easy access to public transport (train), however we hired a vehicle as family of 5 (8 of us altogether) came from Perth, and the hotel had no access to a parking spot.

Rooms were clean but the mould in our family room was evident on the walls & the mouldy musty smell was prominent. Finding parking was impossible till 10pm. Otherwise very good & convenient location

The rooms are very spacious

Definitely would suggest having portacots available, it’s the only thing that would make me avoid coming again. They are very important for travelling families. I was assured they had them but when I arrived they didn’t. Young babies/newborns especially are in desperate need of a safe place to sleep in. The bed was very comfortable at first but I woke up sore due to the mattress not being firm. I’m taking into account that I have spinal issues/nerve pain and need a firmer mattress otherwise very soft.

Hotel is set in a great central location. Good price for royal easter show weekend. Very friendly staff.

Some of the wall sockets didn't work. Had to fill kettle from bathroom to have complimentary tea. Bathroom wasn't the most sightly, but still served it's purpose. I also believe free parking was listed during booking (can't entirely recall) however there is no free parking here during the day.

It was clean, basic and suited my purposes which was fine

When I arrived it was very unclear as to entrance for accommodation. Eventually I asked one of the bar staff. Had I had children with me, that would not have been good. I was also unhappy that the staff member took my credit card and disappeared somewhere for a while. It is my usual practice not to let my credit card out of sight.

Location. Ensuite available which we appreciated.

Main bed had a roll into the middle and could have done with a mattress topper to mitigate feeling the springs. Would have appreciated clothes hangers to be able to better use the three wardrobes in the main room.

The room with an en-suite is well worth the higher cost. The hotel is well-located at a major rail hub - Strathfield - with a fast and relatively inexpensive trip to the city or almost any other point in the city. Very helpful staff.

Lovey big room with lots of character. Definitely not flash but comfortable, clean and surprisingly quiet for Friday night above a pub. Staff were lovely and accommodated a late check-in.
