Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel

We have been staying at The Palace since Doyle’s days as a pub .. 1980’s with our then little kids… Since Doyle’s we have watched it evolve, and we keep going back to what is my fave place in Sydney to ‘stop over’ … We do soooo much travelling around the world and it tops the warm welcome, wonderful enthusiasts staff. The rooms are spotless with fresh linens and such comfy beds, and it’s quiet. Just love my early morning walks and the cafes, also our must do every time is to catch the ferry to Circular Quay then out to Manly for fish n chips on the beach… Home to Watsons for an arvo chillout and drink, then out for dinner.. Anytime of day is gorgeous looking to the city and feeling grateful to be far away from the maddening mayhem !! Highly recommend 👌

Couldn't fault the staff or the room. Loved being able to look out across the magnificent Sydney Harbour. Great location and easy access via the ferry. Plenty of choices for food.

A little noisy and busy some days but to be expected in such a unique location. Public Ferry services start late and end early at night Monday to Friday however weekend Ferry services run from quite early to late at night. I understand that the different levels cause by the tide is a problem but I just wish that the ferry wharf had some form of ramp. The steps are a bit difficult for me being older and carrying luggage.

The front desk gentleman (I cant remember his name, Scott maybe) checked us in and I have worked in customer service for over 30 years and it was such a joy to witness his genuine customer service. He enquired about my partners birthday and then gave him a lovely bottle of red wine. He was just so genuine and chatty and was a lovely start to our stay. I have always wanted to stay at this property and I was just blown away by how comfortable and inviting the rooms were and the view spectacular. Everything in the room was just lovely and the popcorn and handwritten note for my partners birthday was amazing!!!!

Our room and the quality of most of the furnishings and the food.

The bed pillows. The cane blind on the bathroom window. The two 'child like' paintings on the walls in our room - completely out of character and need to be removed. Drink prices were on the heavy side, especially for a bottle of wine. Appreciate you need to make margin but a bottle of wine that I regularly buy at Dan Murphy's for circa $30 and you charge $85, come on! You would be buying it in bulk and doing better than my over the counter Dan Murphy price to start with so a 250%+ markup is a gouge. I think you think that you can charge extra just because of the location.....

We loved our stay at Watsons Bay Hotel. So much so that we have decided to make it an annual event. We started the day with a swim at Camp Cove and then the afternoons and evenings with friends for long lunches on the very covid safe terrace. A great way to celebrate birthdays and Christmas with people we don't see often.

Sadly the beds are not up to the standard you would expect for a boutique hotel. I had to have my back cracked every morning and found it agonising to get moving as there was a big dip in both of the beds in the two rooms we stayed in. Great mattresses are not expensive anymore so it was surprising and disappointing.

We loved our stay here. Such a cute and comfortable room close walking distance to everything you need. Chelsea at reception was wonderful and helpful. We would definitely stay again

The only negative was housekeeping, they were really inconsistent with the keeping of the room. The bin in the bathroom didn’t have a bin bag at all the first two nights. Then some night we only had towels and no bath mats or hand towels so the bathroom would end up drenched yet other nights there were bath mats and hand towels.

That the room was above the hotel's aircon and delivery area. Next time I would ask for a room on the other side of the hotel away from this noise. It did have a nice sunset. It would have been nice to have been offered a room way from these sounds. Only one chair to sit on. If we had both wanted to eat at the table this wouldn't have worked. Especially as it was family room.

Close to restaurants and facilities, such as the ferries, bars and restaurants. The beaches were busy but pretty good.

Need a drying area for wet clotges/ beach towels We found the light switches were a little confusing. Having a block out blind in the bathroom, not just a sheer, would be a lot better. Having the restaurant open for B'fast would have been great. The staff in the bar downstairs need to be a lot more friendly and accommodating. They really did look like they didn't want to be there.

Room was great & couldn't have asked for anything more., breakfast was fine but coffee in takeaway cups was a bit disappointing, coffee machine was in breakfast area but not used. Food at the Beach Club was great & enjoyable.

There was nothing a didnt like & would be happy to stay again & inform others, I didn't experience it, but I expect it could become a bit loud in summer time when there is a lot happening.at the Beach Club

Easy ferry access to Sydney CDB, you can see the Opera House and Bridge on the way so it is an experience on itself. Views at Watsons Bay both to Sydney and to Pacific Ocean. The beach club was a great place to have drinks&dinner. Direct bus to Bondi Beach. The loft room worked well for a family of four.

No breakfast offered at the hotel.
