Hotel Excelsior Republique

The big bonus of this hotel is the location. Quiet neighborhood, the hotel is located between two metro stations: Republique and Strasbourg Saint-Denis, a 5-8 minute walk away. Lots of terraces, pubs, cafes, patisseries and shops within 150 m around the hotel. If outside noises bother you at night, close the window and the thermal insulation completely isolates the sound. The hotel has an elevator. The receptionists are super OK, with a 24/24 hours schedule, and the rooms are cleaned daily. The rooms are relatively small in size, but the accommodation rate is determined by the location of the hotel. All in all, I recommend this hotel, pleasant stay, you feel safe and welcome.

The size of the room... But for the price I have paid, I couldn't ask for more.

Great location! Lots of cafes and various food around. Very close to Republique with access to several metro lines. No elevator and no air conditioning but that’s normal in France. My 6th floor room was lovely. My view out onto the rooftops of the old courtyard was so very French and delightful. One evening it rained and I just sat by the window and enjoyed the moment. It was a perfect room if you’re just looking for a good location and a place to sleep and shower.

Like others have said the walls are thin and noise carries well. The doors (locking, unlocking, opening and closing) are loud but the way the hotel is laid out I only had one neighboring room. It was loud when they got back to their room and I’m sure my door was loud when I got back to my room. Just hope you don’t have a noisy neighbor.

This is a typical Parisian hotel, lots of character, and perfect for a week in Paris where I was out all day and just needed somewhere comfortable to sleep. Well located, friendly staff, comfortable room (although on the small side which seems to be typical in Paris.). Smooth check in and check out.

The shower was so small I could only just manage to get into it. But water was nice and hot!

Hotel Excelsior location is excellent, and the front desk staff were welcoming and friendly.

We reserved this stay through www.booking.com, who advertised a $40 discount for us and then refused to honor their promise. This was not any fault of Hotel Excelsior. We spend over $5,000 per year on travel and will do our very best to avoid ever dealing again with booking.com. We recommend to other travellers to learn from our experience.

excellent location, 3 min to Metro Republique, 5 stations until Gare de Nord. room tiny but very clean, great value for money.

The location. It's between two Metro stations, making it easy to get to Paris attractions. It's also within walking distance to several of Paris' interesting neighborhoods. The room. Even if small, the Juliet balconies are a great feature allowing lots of fresh air in the room and a view of the small street below.

The lift is only for 1 person with luggage or 2 without. Room walls are a bit thin, so if you're unlucky enough to have noisy guests next door, it could get bothersome.

Brilliant location - metro very nearby, lots of cafes/bars/restaurants close also. Very friendly staff. You leave your key when you come and go which isn’t unusual. Very basic rooms but clean and comfortable. Not luxury and quite dated interior but we didn’t mind. Would definitely stay again. Would recommend.

I don’t think there is any air conditioning so would be very hot during summer.

Amazing location, really near to place de la république and the metro stations. Especially useful given we were a group of three young girls. Room was comfortable and there was plenty of space, especially for Paris. Be sceptical of reviews talking about cleanliness, the hotel was perfectly clean the entire time we stayed. Really great value for money!

Little bit dated decor but it was actually quite charming

Much nicer than I expected considering how cheap it was! Very clean and comfortable bed, decent sized bathroom, super friendly and helpful staff and fresh pastries and coffee for breakfast every morning. Unbeatable location in easy walking distance of the metro and most of the major museums. Still pretty modest accommodation obviously, but definitely one of the better budget hotels in central Paris!

Absolutely great location. Metro station is almost next to the hotel. Very good area with restaurants very close. You can easily walk around Paris starting from the hotel, no matter if you prefer public transport or take long walks. The rooms are quite basic but my main purpose was to enjoy Paris so the hotel completely covered my needs.

The doors squeak, which can very easily be repaired at almost no cost and effort.
