Hotel Paix Republique

Lovely well located hotel .Lovely staff and very clean hotel .Room service is excellent .Little mini bar and kettle in room with a few tea bags and coffee ( welcome touch ) Beds super comfy .Bathroom has good shower and nice clean towels .Hairdryer was super! Lovely decor very fitting with the theme of The Marais district . Had a fab three days with my daughter .Staff are lovely speak perfect English ( I really need to learn French )

Ok so you have to leave a deposit per room I think and at first I was a bit puzzled but it’s a small charming hotel and I guess they do get people who break stuff etc but upon checkout they do reimburse you immediately.So don’t worry

The hotel staff were lovely. Helpful and friendly. The location was good. I like to walk and managed to walk to all the major sites around Paris. I walked over 20km per day but I like walking and you can reach all the major attractions on foot if you don't mind being out and about. The hotel is right next to the metro if you prefer to catch the underground, so very convenient.

The room was quite a tight fit, but I have not visited Paris before and was told that the size is about right for what we were paying. It was, however, clean and comfortable The wifi was inconsistent. My husband was working and it kept dropping and interrupting his calls. You then have to log in all over again. Not such a problem for me, but very frustrating for him.

The room was very clean, which I often find most important, and the location is perfect. Located right next to place de la republique and the metrostation literally in front of the entrance of the hotel. I forgot my shoes in the room when I left and got called an hour later that they found the shoes. They were so kind to return my shoes via international post, which they communicated to me about very well. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough.

The only thing that could maybe be improved upon is the somewhat old interior, but then again, this is a large part of the charm of such a classic hotel in Paris.

The taxi driver - he was very rude, he did not help with our luggage- he talked for nearly 20 minutes on his mobile with a friend, making derogatory comments about us ( he thought I did not understand French). Then turned up the music. His drving was pathetic, starting and stopping abruptly, constantly, my wife felt ill, we asked him to stop or if he had a bag to vomit in, his only reply was the airport is only 10 minutes more. The hotel told us the maximum fair would be between 35-45. He tried to charge me 55! I ended up paying 48 euros . He argued saying the sticker on his window says 55. But the receipt he gave me says 35 to orly airport!! Very rude!!! Hi name was Thomas - on the 5th of May - paid @13:01 Orly airport - not happy with him at all - zero

The location was excellent, right by an entrance to Republique Metro which has four lines so very good for getting to any part of the city. You could walk to many museums and galleries and there was a good selection of shops, bars and cafes nearby. The air con worked very well and was so quiet. We didn't hear any outside noise with the French windows shut (4th floor). The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.

The room was fairly small for a double but all the facilities were just what we needed. You could hear talking in the next room but fortunately no one came in late or got up early so that didn't matter.

All the staff were wonderful, helping us unload our luggage and directing us to the hotel garage parking which is just across the street behind the hotel. The location was excellent, near the metro, bus stops and many restaurants. The decor, though not modern was very attractive with two comfortable seating areas on the ground floor. The bed though small like most in the centre of Paris was very comfortable with four rectangular pillows and a blanket which we used instead of the duvet. There was a nice continental breakfast.

As one can see on the map, the hotel is on a busy street and right by the metros. In the evening we could occasionally feel the rumble of the metro but it did not keep us awake. In the summer, with the window open the street noise might bother some guests but it did not bother us. It would be nice to have a coffee machine which guests could operate rather than serving coffee from a thermos. The staff gladly made us fresh coffee from their espresso machine; I would have liked a decaf option.

The friendly staff that printed out directions for us to get somewhere. The sense of humour of one of the staff. Good access to public transport and lots of eating places nearby. Water pressure in shower good. Availability to leave luggage when not able to get into room and after when we wanted to leave our luggage to pick up later. Good selection of breakfast items, egg, cheese, ham, croissants, cereal, fruit and yoghurt.

As our room was facing the main road, we wanted the air conditioning on to be able to have the window shut as it was warm overnight but we were told it was not possible to have any air conditioning on because of the time of year. We would have preferred porcelain/china cups rather than the paper ones in our room for tea and coffee.

I had to reduce the number of nights due to work. Booking.com suggested a more expensive rate for a smaller room, so I decided not to change it through them, but asked the front desk upon checking in. Not only did I get my original room at the same price for fewer nights, but they also upgraded my friend's room at no extra cost. The staff were super friendly about everything, even offering comfort when I fell sick. The hotel's location is superb and even the most iconic places of Paris are a pleasant 30 minute walk away.

The rooms are not air conditioned and don't have fans. While it was just about bearable in early Spring, I don't know what would happen in the middle of summer! It is a very noisy street, so if you keep the balcony doors open, you won't sleep much at night.

Extremely clean Very comfortable bed! Excellent location- 3 metro stops from Gare Du Nord, stones throw from lots of very good restaurants and bars and central location

If you take the Metro to the hotel you need to use Exit 6- the hotel is then right in front of you. The exit for Republique Station is not advertised, but there are about 8 exits to the station which does not help when you do not know the area!

The gentlemen at the front was so incredibly helpful. He gave us input about how to save money by buying a metro pass and where to go. He gave recommendations on where to go. Plus he accommodated a room change when we had a complaint about a smell in the first room. It moved us away from our other room, but the next day he moved that room to the same floor we were on. This gentleman was the best and super friendly! Location was literally right next to the metro stop and the little breakfast place right outside was wonderful. I would totally recommend this place to others!
