Hôtel Orchidée

We travelled as two couples, requiring two rooms for 3 nights. The other couple were on honeymoon. I secretly & speculatively contacted the hotel asking if any kind of honeymoon surprise could be arranged. A staff member replied promptly saying that a little surprise could be arranged. Furthermore, we had a 'congratulations' card that we wished to be placed on the other couple's bed. At check in, the staff member very discreetly took the card from me, went up to the other couple's bedroom and placed it on their bed among the rose petals prior to their check-in. We stayed in several hotels over a two week period. There were a couple of 4-star hotels that didn't even bother to reply to my request for a surprise. Hotel Orchidee, despite a 3-star, replied promptly and was more accommodating than even 4-star hotels. The hotel's location appears to be very safe, upmarket, and still very central; just a 5 minute walk to the busy Montparnasse area with many restaurants and commerce.

The safe had a malfunction and required the reception staff to come up to fix the issue. But this could be considered a positive point because the issue was dealt with quickly and successfully.

Room was larger than most in Paris city centre and it was tucked in the back making our night sleep a pleasure. The hotel is nicely located between Metro stations and the area is full of restaurants, creperies and shops, with a nice neighbourhood feeling. Felt safe and with a lot of options. All receptionists spoke decent English and the facilities in the room were great for our 4 nights stay.

Ventilation in the bathroom not working, leaving all towels wet for long periods, we mentioned it to the reception but no action was taken (it was a bank holiday weekend).

I thought it very comfortable and we were on the top floor with a window that looked out on the Eiffel Tower (check it out at night! If you had a room facing the opposite direction, there was a full moon the night before we left.). The bathroom was modern and clean and everything worked great. The room controls for temperature were also modern and worked properly. Beds were comfortable and no problem with the electrical outlets and lights. The hotel is an update in an older building, but well done. The staff were very nice and helpful despite our terrible French and they got us a taxi for us when we left. We did not try the breakfast buffet, but others seemed to enjoy it. The location is great. Nice neighborhood with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants, and bakeries. I wish we could have tried more of them. The Metro is very close and the big train station at Montparnasse is only a few minutes walk further.

The elevator works but feels kind of scary because it shakes as it goes up and down. The amount of tissues in the boxes is rather scant. These are quibbles, however.

The room was better than the photos, clean, soundproof, and nicely made. The staff was amazing, always helpful, nice, and polite. We saw some reviews saying otherwise, so we were pleasantly surprised. The room was cleaned daily. There's a lift - even though the room was next to it, there was no noise from the hallway or other rooms. The room has a digital thermostat which was very nice. The location is decent, about 7 min walk to the train station. Bed was super comfortable, we were very comfortable.

The breakfast wasn't that tasty, expected a bit more for the price. The location is good, but not ideal. There isn't much to do around the hotel. We arrived at 2 pm on a Friday and had to eat from the supermarket because every restaurant in the vicinity was closed.

Loved the location, cleanliness, breakfast and overall welcoming feeling. The location didn't seem particularly special at first but once I explored the neighborhood realized this is a charming little community I really enjoyed spending time in. Quality of breakfast foods were great and staff was always helpful and polite.

The bed could have been softer. Others may like it but a softer bed is my preference.

The hotel is in a 10 minutes walk from the station Gare Montparnasse. There is a metro station near the hotel, and ther eis a supermarket right next to the hotel. There is a metro station also close to the place. The people at the reception are friendly and helpful. The equipment of the room and the bathroom is perfect. The room and the bathroom is not so big, but for one night or for a couple is also perfect.

There was no such thing regarding the accomodation.

We liked the color of the room. The bed was amazing and comfortable. We used the safe and the television too. The room was soundproof, we didn't even notice anybody else being in the hotel. The luggage storage room was okay too.

We filled a form on the hotel's website and asked for airport transport for an additional cost. However when we called the hotel about where it is they said that due to covid transport to the hotel is not available. It is fine not to have the service, but they could let us know, so we shouldn't have to wait for 20 minutes at the airport.

Good location in Paris, many cafes and bars around while not being packed with tourists. Quite easy to reach different parts of the city via Metropolitain. Hotel itself is rather small which makes it cozy. Pleasant staff. Room had necessary amenities including a kettle and a well functioning conditioning system. Overall – you get what you could expect in a 3 star hotel for a short and comfortable stay.

Room was small and the corridors were narrow which could make it difficult to navigate through with large suitcases but that is more or less typical within hotels of the same range in Paris.

Generally everything is fine. especially, there is a surrounding local bake store, great bread indeed .

I was pre-authoritized two times, I understood that a small mistake happened between hotel staffs. But, to be honest, I called them two times with international calsl, and I almost sure, if I do not found I was pre-authorized two times, the hotel staff won"t realize it. My bank used long long time to refund me the two times pre-authorized fee, now everything is fine. I understand pre-authorized rule, just for me, this action and this time experience is unhappy.

Lovely hotel in 14th arrondissment. Quiet courtyard for relaxing or breakfast outdoors is a nice addition. Excellent access to Metro means city centre and main attractions are still very close. Some great restaurants in the neighborhood, never had to go more than a 5 minute walk for incredible food.

An ice machine would have been helpful on a couple occassions.
