Beautiful rooms in a central location. The staff were very friendly. It’s very clear that customer experience is very important to them, the little touches make it so special. Breakfast in Avli’s beautiful garden every morning was amazing and more than set us up for a day of exploring. Their restaurants are both well worth trying too. Avli was a fantastic base to explore the Rethymnon area and have a touch of luxury to come back to after a long day.

I honestly can’t fault our experience of Avli.

They upgraded our room, we got welcome drinks and food in one of there restaurants that are also very good! Room was amazing. Customer service was the best I’ve ever seen. They even gave us complementary water, wine, beer, and salad. They brought all of our luggage to our room. The breakfast is phenomenal and is a multiple course breakfast. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. If you don’t book here your missing out!

An outstanding experience. Avli is one of the best reasons to visit Rethymnon. Our stay exceeded expectations. The hospitality of the staff is outstanding, they are welcoming and they make it feel like visiting family. Situated in the charming streets of the old town, the central location is the place to be. Walking everywhere is possible within minutes. Our room was thoroughly charming and very spacious. Their two restaurants, Avli Fine Dining and Raki Ba Raki offer contrasting experiences of the best of local food. Breakfast in the charming secluded Avli courtyard is a delightful way to start the day. A stay in Crete is enhanced by a car and Avli have parking available two minutes from the hotel in the old town, making for a seamless experience.

Rethymnon is very lively at night and local noise can continue late. Sleep with ear plugs if this troubles you.

Right from the start the building, service and room exceeded our expectations. The accommodation also has its own restaurant next door which was excellent. Breakfast is served in the restaurant courtyard which had incredible gardens. Our host Nicholas was so helpful & accommodating. Without hesitation he helped us out with last minute car hire, at a price my previous research could not beat. Even arranged free transport to the hire car company, as we had large bags. Service & experience was faultless.

Great location and all the staff was so nice and helpful. The daily breakfast was great too.

Great, except for our room. The bed was really hard, they had a mattress topper on it but it was broken down and useless. The location of the toilet to the bed was awful, you couldn’t open the door all the way and the pathway was really narrow as steps from the bathtub and the bed pitched the wall way.

Location (in the middle of old town) Breakfast (really good breakfast) The hotel has the agreement with the parking really nearby (2 min walking distance) The reception staff was very nice The small rooftop pool was nice to refresh (but it might not be on the rooftop of your building since the hotel has 3 or 4 separate buildings. But all of them are close and you get use to it.)

Although the room (I think it was called as "green room" or "green suite") was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable, my room was a little bit darker than I was expecting. It had the tall window facing the restaurant patio but the room remained dark most of the day. I saw other rooms and they had much more light. Being that said, although I didn't like the impression when I checked in, the room was comfortable and very nice.

Firstly I should say we were upgraded to the Candy Suite for our four night stay. It’s enormous inside and has a terrace as well, lots of storage cupboards, nice bathroom, more than you could want. All the people on reception and in the main restaurant were lovely, friendly and keen to be of any assistance. We had the degustation menu with wines at the Avli restaurant on the first night. All the food was first class, the service was excellent, everything was well explained and we learnt a lot about the food, oil and wine of the area. Breakfast is also in this lovely garden setting and very generous - we had to ask the staff not to bring us everything! We ate at their other, more casual restaurant, Raki Ba Raki, another night and the food there was also very good. We ate in the laneway, which is a desirable option in Rethymno with all the flowers, vines, breezes and fantastic weather. Stelios and Nikos helped us with bags and recommendations, we were able to organise the parking at Fortezza through Avli, we had an early breakfast on the day we had to leave - it was just excellent all round.

The Candy Suite has a lot of high windows and French doors to the terrace - all fabulous until you want to sleep in. Fortunately they’ve ordered blinds which should be up sometime this month.

Food philosophy was all local Cretan ingredients served in a tapas style in small tasty dishes. Staff were very friendly and quietly efficient, breakfast was served in a attractively laid out courtyard with plants and artwork, sun and shade. Hotel is set in the narrow streets of the Old Town, with the bustle that is so atmospheric. Nice rooftop solarium for sun worshippers.

As the Hotel is in the Old Town there is no parking. The hotel has an arrangement with the closest car park which offers a lower rate to guests. The rooftop jazzcuzi was not working as it was early in the season

Very nice location in the middle of the old town, located in an old Venetian palazzo. Very nice atmosphere and room just perfect! Staff very friendly and polite. Breakfast in the courtyard excellent! I would also recommend to treat yourself to a tasting menu in the restaurant. Easy parking nearby for a reasonable discounted price. The jacuzzi hot tub in the room was unfortunately out of service, but staff was so nice in offering a free bottle of good wine to enjoy in the room.

The breakfast was beyond amazing and the service was incredible. I absolutley loved the beautiful garden where the breakfast is served. We also sat there as we waited for our room to be ready. They offered us beverages as we waited and it was a lovely atmosphere.

Not sure this is anyone's fault and more of just a note. Not necessarily a big deal. We had a balcony and it was over a street that seemed to take deliveries so in the morning the view was cute but kind of loud with deliveries. Nothing to ruin a vacation just noting that it's not like birds chirping
