Lake of Shadows Hotel

Central with a good car park across from it..great walks and big park if you have kids .good beach is 5 mins away and town also just 5 mins walk.. breakfast was very tasty best I've eaten in a long time and spotless in my room...

.Staff could do with smiling a bit more especially at Breakfast time. My room was lovely but very warm could do with some air conditioning especially the front rooms as sun just shines in and with window still no air gets in..I think it's more suited for older people.but very good restaurant.

Staff were very friendly and accomodating. When I asked if they were showing a rugby match on the evening I arrived, they made sure to reserve me a table for dinner in front of the tv. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Had dinner there both evenings and the food was solid, unpretentious pub grub. Bar service was quick and friendly. The breakfast was ample and made sure you could enjoy exploring the surrounding areas of natural beauty without worrying about lunch. The location was grand, only a five minute walk to the main street of the town and another few minutes to the beach and park.

Typical Irish hotel wifi having to connect every single time a bit of a pain. Other than that, no issues. The local staff do put the word "wee" in front of everything, like "what's your wee room number?" But that's not a real criticism and it's actually pretty charming once you get used to it! :-)

Breakfasts were excellent! Loved everything! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the food was amazing and the location was great and so central to all sorts of beautiful beaches, sites and drives etc.

Only niggle was the little shelf on the wall to the left of the basin (room 156, double bed) that was hard not to bump when getting out of the shower / bath. It could be placed somewhere else. Also could hear guests' movements(!) in room above ours.

From start to finish of my trip nothing was any trouble. The receptionist was friendly helpful and helped my brother to get into his room as he was having trouble with his key card. The receptionist rang us to say we had a aunt and uncle in the lobby. Couldn't believe I'd lost my phone charger. I called in on the off chance that I might have left it in the bedroom and sure enough I had. Lovely housekeeper.Great service at breakfast nothing no trouble at all. Lovely bedroom. Great stay.

Breakfast was lovely and the staff were excellent, great location near the water too. Had a nice drink in the bar that evening as well and, again, staff looked after us really well.

Not sure if anything could have been done to prevent this, but the room that night (even with the air con on) was absolutely roasting! I’m a really good sleeper but was up several times because of it and, given it was mid September and an average temp outside , was shocked at how hot it got. I checked the radiator and it wasn’t on so that wasn’t a contributing factor.

The staff make this place. From the outset, we were made feel welcome and every staff member we encountered was friendly and polite. We had a great meal in the hotel restaurant - great portions, really tasty and excellent value for money. Breakfast was good too but it was too hot to really enjoy the rare treat of a cooked breakfast. The beds and pillows were comfortable and it was nice to have a twin room where the two beds weren't rammed together - there was great space with the beds at opposite ends of the room. Bathroom was clean and spacious. Room was hot at night but a 30 degree heatwave is a rare thing in Ireland so that's easily forgiven. Would come back to stay on the basis of the lovely staff.

The carpet in the general areas could do with a freshening up but that's really it. Everything else was lovely.

.All the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was exceptionally clean and the food was excellent. A perfect location for walks along the beach, which is only a 2 minute walk away

The only thing we didn't like was the middle aged blonde haired woman in the black suit who seemed to be the manageress in the evenings. She seemed to talk to all the locals but just ignored the guests. She didn't make us feel very welcome

Beautiful hotel, with the most amazing staff. Everyone was so friendly.. food was out of this world, and we are hard to please! We felt so safe even through this difficult time of Covid. We loved every minute of our stay, and have planned to go back.

Our room was maybe slightly on the small size, compared to what we were used to, but we coped the best.

Used to live in the Town. Very friendly people throughout i Expected no less. The hotel and the surrounding area needs to be explored. There truly unique.

There was a poo in the toilet when we checked in, . Someone forgot to flush. Not a big deal to me but put a smile on my face. Just a blip.

Lovely hotel very close to the town and beautiful beach at the end of the road. Great room comfy bed and friendly staff. Enjoyed two lovely meals in the bar and great breakfasts. Thank you for a great stay 👍.
