The Montenotte Hotel

The staff go above and beyond to make your stay special. I can’t thank Jake and Fabian enough! They were amazing and it was not just ourselves who thought so other guests commented on their high level of service, professionalism and their fun and positive manner. They are an asset to the hotel. The hotel has the most amazing views and glasshouse cocktail bar. The food was very good and the attention to detail outstanding. Looking forward to our next stay already!

The communal facilities are amazing! Beautiful gardens with fab sculpture exhibits. Such friendly, helpful, attentive staff! The 2 bedroom apartment is fantastic with a toddler in tow…loads of space and additional facilities.

I liked everything about the property however a couple of really small changes would make the 2 bed apartment excellent - coat hooks, a welcome pack with a couple more basics as the closest shop is a little way down the hill and not always open. A smart tv in the lounge so Netflix etc could be set up. The windows in the lounge of our apartment leaked in the rain and this produced a musty smell from the carpet so I think this is an ongoing problem which should be looked at. We didn’t complain as there was nothing that could be done whilst we were there but it’s probably worth mentioning Incase you are unaware.

Very smart and well-designed. Great gardens and view. Really nice cocktail bar attached and generally very friendly and helpful staff.

Service when we were in the restaurant was very slow. Could only book quite late and despite the fact we had a child with us the main courses took about 40 minutes to come. If you can see an already very tired-looking 11-year old late in the evening, why wouldn’t you try everything to bring food out quickly - it was a charcuterie so didn’t even need to be cooked. The other disappointing thing was the TV. For this amount of money I would expect more than 5 available channels! No catch-up or satellite service at all.

The 2 bedroom apartment was very spacious. It had everything we needed. The master bath had this wonderful warming rack for towels. The staff, sauna, steam room, hotel gardens, and bistro were also lovely.

We visited on the hottest days of the year and are accustomed to having air conditioning. That isn't standard in Ireland so it is good to have the expectation. The hotel had fans that we put in the windows and that worked out well. The washer/dryer combo was confusing and didn't have directions. It takes over 6 hours to wash and dry a load of laundry and it didn't dry completely.

Food was MUCH BETTER than what we had experienced at the other hotels, for both breakfast and dinner. Staff was very friendly, shout out to Ken. Room was nice and the in-room TV was the best of all the hotels we stayed at. Like the other hotels, this was a good base of operations for touring Cobh and Kinsale.

But this hotel's location is TERRIBLE. The road (Trafalgar Hill) is so narrow, it may as well have been a one way street. And there were not many places to pull off if some jerk came flying down in the opposite direction at 100 km/h. We witnessed a person not willing to back up for a van, the van tried to pass, and knocked the guy's side mirror off. They need to improve the roads leading to this hotel.

This is literally the most perfect hotel I have ever stayed in. I just cannot fault it. The staff are brilliant across all areas of the hotel, Ken on the door treats you with warmth and humour like he has known you for years which is just so lovely and welcoming. The room was divine, clean and so comfy with everything you could need. The bathroom was beautiful! Everything about the room felt luxury. The bed was the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in with the softest bedding. The food across room service, breakfast and the restaurant is of the highest quality. The Glasshouse Bar is beautiful and a lovely way to spend an evening! Breakfast in bed is a must! I would recommend this hotel! A little piece of heaven on earth!

Beautiful outdoor garden and outdoor seating in bar and restaurant. Great views of cork on top of hill. Comfortable beds. Unfortunately we did not get to any of the facilities. Beautifully designed hotel. They also have movie theater which we did not attend.

Restaurant has expensive food which we did not find the best on our entire trip. Hours for pool/ fitness start later on weekend. Unfortunately we did not get to use them because we had to leave around time opened in am. Breakfast is not included in price. One of rare places in Ireland we found breakfast not included. Very narrow road if you come in the from the east. Better to drive the opposite way to hotel.

(1) Without exception, every single employee of the hotel that I encountered were courteous, professional, friendly, helpful and engaging. (2) While located in a quite and secluded area, there are shops, pubs, coffee shop, pharmacy etc. within a few minutes walking distance from the hotel and it's only about 20 to 30 minutes to get to the city centre on foot (or a few minutes by car/taxi). (3) The hotel has some really nice outdoor spaces with amazing views overlooking Cork city (bring your camera). Really nice indoor spaces too such as bar / restaurants / lobby etc. During my one night stay, I didn't get to avail of all facilities, but I was impressed by the fact that the hotel has a cinema. (4) As a vegan, I had a number of plant-based food options available to me. (5) Refer to point (1), amazing staff!

Beautiful view, you can see the whole city. Great bar and friendly staff. Quick walk to city center. Room was clean and spacious. Spa service was great, very nice addition to have on site. Pool & workout facilities nice and clean.

Hill was a bit of a hike to walk up to the hotel. I wish breakfast was included in the room price. A fridge in the room would have been nice. Only real issue we had was they charged us at check out for the rooms after we had already paid Bookging.com at the time of booking. It was rectified with a phone call to bookings and the hotel called after to apologize.

Staff were very friendly and helpful (except the waitress who kept forgetting and mixing up breakfast orders on Monday morning).My family could not stop praising the breakfast and bedroom s. The staff at reception were very patient when I was querying my bill and the amount ‘held’ on the card . The lady at reception exceeded my expectations when she said I could leave my luggage for safe keeping for a few hours even after I had checked out . That was very helpful as we still needed to visit Cobh and had no place to leave our luggage.
