Maldron Hotel Portlaoise

The hotel was nice and the bed very comfortable. The room was just the right tempetature

I came in late and was a bit nervous trying to get my key to open the front door. Also I had booked the room through booking.com so I couldn’t get breakfast however it was the same rate as they were giving to my organization and they got breakfast. That annoyed me and would stop me staying again.

The staff are the best and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Alessia and Josh on the front desk went over and above to help out. I was travelling with my elderly mom with mobility issues. The room we had booked the bed wasn't suitable for her. They helped with sorting it out and changing rooms for us. Nothing was too much.

I know its probably down to insurance reasons but the only thing I didn't like is that for older children to enter the pool an adult also has to enter the pool. I had my 11 year old avid deep end swimmer who swims way better than I can but she was very restricted in going to the pool as I was only able to enter the water once. There is no deep end and I feel that older children could be allowed in the pool supervised. Not the end of the world. Just a little letdown by the restriction

Room was spacious, had all the essentials, bed was very comfortable, everything was very tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful, checking in was very straightforward. I was happy with the dinner choice I made. Breakfast buffet had a good choice. Ample parking facilities.

Breakfast was not table service, I would have liked at least tea/coffee brought to the table, I was content to get everything else myself. The bar and dining room appeared to be the same space, maybe it was my interpretation of how the room was laid out, because of this we didn't stay to have a drink.

We were a family of 2 adults and 3 children. Check in was easy....the room was very comfortable and had everything we wanted. Dinner in the bar was lovely as was breakfast the next morning. Staff were very polite and friendly especially the chap we met at the reception in the pool. We had a lovely stay and would book another visit if we were ever in the area again.

This is really only a very small thing but automatic doors on the way in would be great instead of push/pull. We had a lot of baggage and found it hard getting through the doors! Ha ha. But's just something very tiny.

Room was grand 2 adults and 3 children plenty of space. Pool was lovely kids really enjoyed it and good location to the town also the garage next door has plenty of food options

Didn't like the fact if you didnt have a credit card you had to pay €150 cash deposit. Also didnt like when we checked out the deposit wasn't returned to us until they sent someone up to check the room. To me it just made me wonder what type of people stay in this hotel if they can't return the deposit until the room is checked. I've stayed in hotels all over the world and I've never witnessed this

The service and staff were excellent. Beds were very comfortable. A small playroom for the kids gave them somewhere to go to other than the pool, but could have been better equipped. Hotel was clean. The beauty salon was a nice addition. The deep tissue massage myself and husband got are worth returning for.

The car park is included in the service stations section. A separate entrance would give a better vibe to the hotel. The restaurant/breakfast room/bar is spacious but gives a canteen feel to it, as the bar is badly sectioned off and very small. A larger bar area with better lighting and somewhere to relax after dinner is badly needed. Otherwise, after dinner, it's straight back to the room. The town is too far away to comfortably walk.

The room was very well set up for the 5 of us and plenty of room. Staff were very professional and helpful. Very clean and the swimming pool was an extra bonus

I little more variety in seating in the bar, it was set up as a restaurant and that's all the seating there was. A little uncomfortable if only staying for a coffee or a few drinks in the evening. Also the location is not very close to anything. There are some food places to eat at the food court but nothing else. You will need to drive or taxi to get anywhere

Very close to motorway exit. Arrived after 11pm and had a plentiful breakfast at 7am to continue journey. Big en-suite room with very comfortable beds, tv, tea/coffee facilities and sitting area. Everything spotlessly clean.

Hotel name very small over a door in an internal corner of the building, masked by the large gym/leisure centre on one side and motorway services on the other. Initially thought our satnav had taken us to the wrong location. The Dublin branch has an enormous sign visible from the motorway.

We recently stayed with our 2 children, aged 10 and 3 and we really enjoyed it. Great sized room, comfy beds and a bath and shower was a great addition!! Staff all welcoming and accommodating and provided us with a fan as the weather was hot. Swimming pool was used by our family and staff again lovely, and welcoming there and we really enjoyed it, and could be used as many times as we liked. Great location too, a short 5 minute drive in to laoise, where there is restaurants, bars, big shopping centre ×2, it also made for a lovely walk. I would definitely stay again, it was fantastic, with the shop and food court right beside the hotel, it meant even fussy eaters had something, although food in hotel seemed fab too. Great hotel and staff.

Only downside was the sofa bed wasnt as comfy as the normal beds, but perhaps cant be avoided. Still everyone slept great!

Very clean room. Nice leisure centre with pool, sauna and gym. Good selection of breakfast items. Very comfortable and modern. It is very accessible to get to as it is located within a big open industrial car park with other food places on offer around the hotel. Hotel is located beside the motorway

No staff at reception upon check-in had to wait a while for anyone to attend at the desk. Nobody answered phone when I rang down to reception a couple of different times.
