Avalon House Hotel

We travelled from Galway to the Avalon House Hotel, which is a fair drive. Upon arrival we were welcomed by friendly staff even the staff passing through reception said hello. Our room was ready and we both agreed the following morning the bed was the best ever we slept in. We had lunch in the bar, served by friendly local boys and girls who may be on summer holidays and working at the hotel. The food was very good and the location of the hotel is excellent, a small walk to the Discovery Park. We would definitely go back there.

The staff were really lovely and very friendly. Couldn't have been more helpful. The location is lovely and Castlecomer is a beautiful village and very easy driving distance to Kilkenny. The interior and courtyard areas are really nice and everything feels fresh and beautifully renovated. The room was a little small but we knew that when booking and it wasn't an issue. Breakfast was excellent.

The dinner menu didnt have many options so we ate elsewhere however the breakfast was excellent so I'm sure it would have been lovely but the dinner menu just didn't have anything that caught our attention on this occasion.

everything except for the cleanliness of our room in particular. great food, service a bit lagging but it’s ok. we’re on vacation.

just having a dirty pillow case with make up on it from previous guests. Not noticeable in dim lights, noticed it next morning. I don’t wear foundation makeup, I’m allergic to said make up which made the last couple of days in Ireland uncomfortable due to allergic reactions. someone didn’t do their work and I had to pay for it personally. The splatters on table and cupboard could have been easily cleaned as well. Great place, but cleaner needs to know how important her job is.

To start, the staff member Mairead that I emailed and Emma that I spoke with were beyond helpful and accommodating. On arrival the hotel was absolutely stunning. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing. (yes I sound like I am overdoing it but I genuinely mean it) We enjoyed every part of our stay. To top it all off we had a lovely evening in the bar enjoying the band "Off the Cuff". The staff at every point of our stay, from booking to checking out were friendly, helpful and a great representation of the hotel quality.

Breakfast was excellent as was dinner ,bar prices very reasonable , staff very attentive . Couldn’t fault anything . Bed very comfortable and rooms very clean . Toilets spotless and disability friendly . Looking forward to going back . Thanks to all the staff.

The only fault I had was the bath in our room was very high and could do with a handrail need on the wall to assist getting in and out of the bath .

Everything from the greeting we got when we arrived to the breakfast the next morning the coffee machine and rituals soaps and shower gels to the quirky mirrors and ornamental mice over the doors...I'm looking forward to my next visit soon

Your parents did a fantastic job bringing it this far and I believe it will be the cherry on the top if you could fit a pool somewhere for when the park is closed

Breakfast excellent. Location perfect. Lovely bar. Very good friendly staff.

Daily clean of the room and replenish of tea/cups etc should take place. Better ability to deal with violent disturbances quickly (disturbance on Friday night by some of the wedding party was very frightening for our relatives young family who where in the room next door!) Have a limit on music volume/style in ballroom. Appreciate hotel needs weddings but a country hotel the size of the Avalon should ensure the entertainment is appropriate so traditional disco and local bands rather than incredibly loud house music for example.

The hotel is really beautiful, rooms were neat and clean with some lovely homely touches. We are a neurodiverse family and the colours, textures and layout of the rooms were a treat on the senses. The mixture of the old and the new was really done seamlessly, and complimented each other. Breakfast was limited but lovely, pancakes were a hit.

The menu in bar and restaurant were limited, though staff were very good at trying to accommodate our needs (limited diets/ diary free/ gluten free). We sat in the lobby on our last day as I was working, I couldnt leave and was expecting staff to perhaps see if we wanted anything, but no staff came near us. My children would not be able to approach staff and order drinks (hot chocolate), this was a little disappointing, but although I did note that we were a neurodiverse family on booking, I realise we can't expect all staff to understand what that means.

Room was very warm, certainly wouldnt go cold, nice and toasty. Bed was comfortable, enjoyed the breakfast, made to order. Had dinner in the bar, that was nice.

Small bit dust in the room around the side table and light. Being locked out of the hotel at night, had to knock to get somebody attention to be left back in, this wasn't advised to me when checking in that the doors lock at certain time.

Absolute gorgeous quiet place to stay, close to Kilkenny, but far enough away to be serene. The hotel was beautifully set up And looked after, exquisite decor. The staff were all lovely. We chose to have breakfast included absolutely lovely. Big easy car park. Lift for those who don’t like stairs but the staircases were full of lovely pictures and craft to admire
