Woodford Dolmen Hotel Carlow

beautiful property, very clean, we would stay again but not on ground floor

only problem we had was about 12am a couple across the hall was having a blazing row. we called night porter, he said he would sort it as there were other complaints received about them already and he did deal with it, then all was quiet, but by then our baby had woken and didn’t go back to sleep until after 3am. we told this to the reception staff but they didn’t acknowledge it. we were on the ground floor too, at front of hotel so we heard every car that pulled up and people saying goodbye late in the night. so all in all, it was a restless nights sleep.

I messaged in advance and they booked an "accessible" room with a walk in shower for my aging mother. Rooms were comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were both good. Lots of parking. Nice location to explore Co Carlow.

The dinner menu would benefit from variety from day to day. The accessible room didn't have any spare power sockets for rechargers etc. I had to unplug the kettle to free one up. (The other rooms both had useful power sockets.) Rooms weren't serviced every day. They have a balcony at the rear with a nice view which would be nice to sit at for a leisurely drink, but that seems only to be used for weddings. The only outside area where you can sit is at the front next to the car-park.

Myself & my two Daughters booked two nights with Friends to celebrate my daughters Birthdays.We had a wonderful stay from the friendly staff to the comfortable Rooms,which were clean and tidy with sufficient space.The Restaurant was really nice with a lovely selection of food on the menu and the staff were extremely accommodating.Only an hour from Dublin and really close to Carlow Town, the Hotel offered everything we needed for our weekend away.Look forward to returning in the near future.

The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Staff very friendly. Lovely grounds with the river flowing behind the property. Excellent food and service. Also had live entertainment during our stay with Michael English which was pay at the door. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The only drawback being on the first floor we found the room very warm which couldn't be helped as the windows only open so far for safety reasons.

Loved everything the room was spotless, beds were so comfortable and the pillows so soft we had a great sleep. The food was beautiful and service quick. Breakfast selfservice and excellent The rooms were off in sections and you could here a pin drop it was so quiet tg that's what I love. Couldn't fault the hotel in any way. Wonderful relaxing break away. Deffs recommend and look forward to staying again. at some point Lovely grounds to walk around also.

The property is situated on the outskirts of Carlow town with nicely laid out gardens with the river near by and plenty of parking. The hotel is well kept and all the staff were very friendly. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast was good, with a good selection of fruit, cereals and cooked food available. Good value for money. Will certainly be back

The room was very warm and there was no air con, however when we rang reception, we were offered a fan which arrived to our room shortly afterwards, so a minor detail

For the very reasonable price we paid we had a great stay at the Woodford Dolmen. Staff were friendly and always happy to help, our room was perfect and beds (kids, single and double) were really comfortable and there was a great variety of food on the restaurant menu. On top of that there was the lovely setting along the river where we enjoyed an afternoon walk upon our arrival. Overall would highly recommend staying here!

We loved everything it was a very beautiful hotel. All of the staff were lovely and very helpful and so friendly they made our stay so much better. The room was a great size and very beautifully decorated and extremely clean. The bar was so nice and the food delicious. We all really enjoyed our stay and would like to thank all the staff for their kindness and warm welcome .

Lovely staff, beautiful decor and food in Restaurant is very good!

Unfortunately very little or no GF OPTIONS at all, staff was not convincing at all to tell you about allergens and kids menu has all allergens mixed up (all wrong) they better change it! It was very noisy all night people were still shouting and banging doors till like 2.30am.

Breakfast could be better not many varieties for vegetarians , and even the hashbrown was hard as a rock ... And in the room in the shower it wasn't a proper shower mobile just the stand one. And was ordering sampane in the room but wasn't anything to be open the sampane, need it to call to reception to get a corkscrew.
