Langtons Hotel Kilkenny

Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely with a nice menu. Location excellent with plenty of car parking space.

On return to the hotel after the first night of our stay, at 11:15 pm we found great difficulty in accessing the building. After ringing the doorbell many times and waiting 15 minutes outside, we eventually gained access through the bar by alerting a member of staff. On the second evening of our stay, we had a couple of drinks in the bar before going to meet friends up the town. After enquiring what time the bar closed at, Mr. Ed Langton informed us that the bar would be open to residents and the night porter would look after us with a drink. When we returned at 12:30 am, the night porter let us in and refused to serve us a drink. He bluntly told us at the bar closed at 11:30 pm. This was a disappointing way to end our stay.

The property was magnificent, well managed, and maintained.

The room was not as we requested. We asked for 2 rooms with twin beds, but received double bed configurations. We did not request a change as we were there just one night, but it would have been more convenient if they were correct. The bar staff was overwhelmed because of the Rugby World Cup game, but I waited an hour for a Baileys and coffee before the crowds even came. There are 6 bars on the property, so it was my fault for choosing the wrong one.

The breakfast was the worst I've ever seen we came down at 10 the fruit bowl had 3 pieces of fruit and no one topped it up the brown bread was rock hard and the buffet itself even though I wouldn't call it that was sitting on two tables shoved together they could have put a cloth on it the bedroom was in a separate building room was nice but entrance and garden area were very grubby place needs ongoing maintenance and its not getting it granite garden tables were green with moss the internal building where bars are had a stale smell throughout some fresh flowers might be nice overall I wouldn't rate it as a hotel more a pub with rooms

The hotel with an impressive interior. Located almost in the center, in a quiet place. Our windows were to the street side, but somehow it did not create big promlems about noice. They have a free parking, but please note it is accessible from another street - Maudlin Str. If you have any doubts - pls ask hotel for instructions. Room was very big, with spacious bathroom. In general in the hotel you may feel an aristocratic atmosphere - both due to interior and staff, especialy waiters during the breakfast. Maybe a bit too pompous, but nothing to complain about. Breakfast was excelent, except coffee.

Difficult to find the room - could be some more clear notes or directions. I would prefer an electronic card locking instead of an old fasion key, but maybe that's an idea to meet the interior. Coffee - usual problem of Irish hotels. No taste.

The hotel has a good feeling. It has elements of historical decor, but feels modern and well maintained. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The facilities were great and the food was awesome, especially breakfast. I recommend taking the Medieval Mile Museum tour by John. Brilliant!

The only issue we had was that there was a disco on the one night we stayed and whilst the hotel emailed us ahead of time to warn us, it was too late for us to change plans. They said we could get in free (usual price 10 euros), which if we were younger would have been fine. The music was not an issue, but our room was overlooking the front door, so lots of people were coming in and out and chatting. All quiet by 2.30am, so not a major crisis and it didn't spoil our stay at all. If this is a big issue for you, just check with the hotel before you book, otherwise I'd recommend staying here when visiting historic kilkenny.

Fabulous room, very nice staff

The breakfast lets the hotel down, I would stay again but have breakfast some where else. We stayed 3 nights and tried 3 different cooked breakfasts, all just ok, would expect much better

Our room was HUGE! We could have had a formal dance in the room. The bathroom was larger than our bedrooms at home. I loved the amount of natural light and the absolute uniqueness of the room! Getting to the room was a bit of a maze, but it was fun, we had to go through a “secret” door to get to our stairway. The room, including the bathroom, was clean. The location was terrific, walking distance to everything. Parking was onsite, a little confusing to get to but was easily accessible once we found the parking lot. The hotel was beautiful and I could completely see having a formal event there. We ate breakfast in the hotel and it was well worth the price. We had more than enough food and the it was delicious. I will say, entire property was very large and was very cool - temperature wise. We stayed during the Spring so, between heating and cooling seasons and the weather had been unseasonably warm, so I don’t think they had the heat running.

I felt cold most of the time and the mattresses seemed too hard.

Loved every bit of it. Was there for a friend’s wedding and I thought it was the most beautiful venue. Staff were amazing. Nicest food I’ve ever had at a wedding (vegan options were out of this world). The room we stayed in was absolutely gorgeous, bathroom was huge and so beautifully designed. Breakfast was 10/10. Absolutely not a single complaint. Couldn’t recommend it more.

From start to finish we highly enjoyed out stay here. The food was incredible we had dinner in the bar and the breakfast the next morning and both meals were fabulous we all cleared our plates. Staff very nice and friendly. Location is absolutely perfect for exploring the city. There was a lovely atmosphere in the bar and it was a lovely place for a few drinks.

We were on second floor with no lift stairs only that was one minor thing but didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves m

Beautiful hotel serving food in 4 different areas. Dinner in dining room was a quieter place than the buzzing bar, bistro area and was enhanced by the beautiful decor. An superb breakfast was served in the same room. great free car parking at rear of hotel for guests.

no mini fridge in room and hairdryer was very difficult to use, cord did not stretch enough from outlet to see mirror!
