Abbey Hotel Roscommon

Breakfast lovely and extensive, good base location to see Roscommon. Pool clean, generous opening hours (until 930pm) and very helpful staff, bedrooms clean, service excellent in general. Very professional setup. Plenty of parking. Walking distance to the town centre. Checkout was 12pm which gave plenty of slack for vacating rooms.

Minor things - restaurant dinner is expensive for what it is - e18 for Fish and Chips; 14.50 for a pizza. Some furnishings a little dated in the rooms (eg white net curtain over the clear window in the bathroom).

Excellent room and facilities; exceptionally helpful staff. Dinner and breakfast were great. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating options; a great place to stay.

Not a complaint as the Hotel couldn't have done anything about this but... our room overlooked the entrance/driveway and noise from guests leaving the wedding reception held at the venue that night was very loud from 1:30-3:00 a.m. On the plus side, I was impressed that the wedding reception went on until 3:00am - those guests got excellent value for money :)

Hotel very comfortable. Staff very helpful and pleasant except for one member in the bar area. He appeared to be the supervisor and was quite rude to guests in general. Younger members of bar staff and waiters were a credit to themselves and to the hotel. That gentleman could take lessons from the younger members.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were well-equipped and very clean. It was match day in the town and there was a good atmosphere in the hotel bar. Plenty of comfortable areas to chill out and relax. Excellent value.

Some areas of the hotel seem a little dated but that doesn't detract from the positive aspects. The breakfast was decent but lacked ingredients such as mushrooms and tomatoes for a cooked breakfast. To be fair, they had one food warmer out of action and this may have been used for those items.

The staff were really friendly, in good spirits, and so helpful.There was a great choice of breakfast options and all the food was hot and delicious. We also dined in the bar on one evening and we were awkward by asking for a few omissions/substitutions due to dietary requirements, but it was no trouble and presented nicely and tasted lovely. The leisure centre was probably the cleanest one I've ever been in and the staff were very attentive to maintaining that, the facilities were very nice. We stayed in a twin room with two single beds. There was plenty of storage space and room to move about and sit in the bedroom and we really appreciated there were enough towels without having to ask for more, there were 2 pillows each that were supportive, and that our beds were neatly made and we were given fresh towels and toiletries after our first night despite only staying 2 nights. We had a truly relaxing and enjoyable stay and will definitely come back and recommend the Abbey Hotel.

I am hard pressed to have any complaints of any real substance - nothing impacted the enjoyment of our stay. A few notes for maintenance is all I could think of. The water pressure in the shower head in our bedroom could have been better as it was a fairly poor stream of water, but the taps in the sink and bath were fine, as were the swimming pool showers. The shower in our room was also difficult to turn on, the handle seemed to jam in the "off" position. We also had trouble with our safe not opening despite putting in the correct code and it displaying "secure good", but we called reception and that issue was resolved very promptly where they overrode the code and opened it for us. Those fixes would improve ease of use and help the guests to have a more seamless stay.

I liked the decor of the lobby and corridors. It has an old worldly feel to it. Bedroom was clean. Some of the furniture was a bit shabby in the bedroom. Bathroom was clean but a bit of wear and tear in places. Breakfast was good. Dining staff were good but one individual quite noisy. Leisure centre a bonus. Receptionist was very good and really helpful. The staff in the Leisure centre were very friendly and helpful.

Nothing really bothered me...we were late checking in and i didn't feel we got our value for money but that was not the fault of the hotel. We stayed one night

We really enjoyed the facilities such as the sauna and the swimming pool. The room itself was really nice, it had a nice old style to it. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Overall, if is an experience staying in the hotel as the bar has really nice food and style to it.

To get to the rooms, it is an odd walk to get to them, at times felt like a mini labyrinth but it is not a big deal as there were staff on every corner. The room did not have a hair dryer, it would have been a nice addition for after the shower.

The breakfast was very disappointing. For such a nice hotel it was a let-down. The table I sat at wasn't as clean as it should have been. The buffet just wasn't suitable...food left sitting in containers for ages. When you lift the lid condensation drips down. Breakfast should be table service. I could hear the waitress chatting loudly behind the scenes. Overall just disappointing. Also, in the bar for dinner it is not great to see staff scraping the food off plates to the side of the bar. It all looks very unprofessional. For such a lovely hotel a few changes would make a huge difference. The staff were very nice and helpful and the room was really lovely.

My first night was given a room with bed that was not very comfortable, very old mattress and with a deep in the middle. Woke up at 3a.m in the night with aches and pains in my body and stay up waiting for the reception to resume in the morning at 07:30. I was moved to a very nice room with a lovely comfortable mattress and nice view for the rest of my stay. Very happy overall😊
