The property is well located, about ten minutes’ walk from bus and train stations. I think the entry could be narked a bit more clearly at street level. But I found wit the aid of a neighbour. The property looks pretty ordinary, but the rooms are absolutely sparkling, as is the brightly decorated common area. I appreciated the elevator. There are very many good-quality restaurants and at least one supermarket within a few minutes’ walk. The cheerful young lady managing the property also helped me arrange a taxi to the airport for the following morning. I thought “PeP” was maybe a little high priced for a smallish room, but it compared well to other places in Catania suited to short-stay, single travellers.

The single small, high window did not admit much natural light, but on the other hand, the artificial lighting was very good. Nothing else to complain about.

it was clean and comfortable. though I did not meet the staff they were responsive and helpful via chat. restaurants and bars close by. I didn’t explore too much but location seemed convenient.

I found the key and entry to building and place cumbersome -perhaps I am spoiled by keyless code systems - though the owner helped right away via chat it would have been helpful to have posted instructions on how to exit the building. also it was a bit disconcerting as a solo traveler as no one was in the b&b upon arrival (staff not other guests) and the entry and hallways were dark and empty.

Beautiful interiors, comfortable cool and clean, fast wifi and lovely owners and breakfast! Good location for walking to the Piazza Duomo and Corso Etnea. Once you get in and settled it feels like an oasis. Catania has a lively street life and is fun to explore from this location!

Overall Catania is a city that is rough around the edges, it has a gritty, busy urban feel which was culture shock for us. We were confused by the check in process, finding the key box, navigating the small elevator and using the keys in a historic building. The owner offered to drive over to help but we finally figured it out. Make sure you look closely at the photos she sends to understand the key location! We didn't realize it was an independent bnb and there was no person there to greet us. Overall it worked out well for us once we acclimated but we expected something different.

The B&B is located in an old historic building that has its haunting charm. The rooms have been wonderfully restored and renovated in a wonderful and modern style. The street may not be the prettiest street but it’s location and position is ideal. The wonderful Teatro Bellini is less than 5 minutes walk away in one direction and piazza duomo is equally close in the other direction. For those in search of local life, this charming b&b is also close to the local street market which sells all manner of local fresh food from fruit to fish. Many historical attractions are located at a convenient distance to be easily accessible on foot. The young ladies who own and run b&b Pupi e Pupari are ever so helpful and quick to respond to any queries. I love the theme of the Sicilian Pupi. Look it up as each room is named after the characters in this legend and classical love story.

This isn’t really a negative point, but more of a practical tip: being a wonderful old building, the lobby can be a bit dark. Guests can locate the central switch upon entry to light up the stairs. It’s worth staying in such a place so steeped in history.

Pupi e Pupari was a fantastic little B&B. The staff were really friendly and allowed us to leave our bags there before check-in (as we arrived in Catania about 3 hours early). The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfy and the air conditioning was far superior to that of our hotel in Taormina (which was over double the price per night). Breakfast was OK - there was fresh fruit, cereal, croissants, cake, yoghurt, ham, cheese and bread. I'd never had a pistachio croissant before... AMAZING! The B&B is in a great location for sightseeing. Most things are between 5 and 10 minutes away on foot. There's a quirky little area about 100 yards away called the "art & fun district" which has a relaxed outdoor seating area serviced by a couple of restaurants. We ate at First Lounge Bar which was both delicious and very reasonably priced. We walked to the beach, but it is was a bit of a mission to get there (about 40 minutes to get to the start of the beach and then another 30 minute stroll to get to a nice clean bit with very little sea weed) and involved walking close to some very busy roads. We took and Uber back to the B&B and it cost €16. But there are busses which will undoubtedly be cheaper. All in all Pupi e Pupari was great and provided the perfect base for us to explore Catania.

The balcony was disappointing - very small with an air-conditioning unit taking up a third of the space and a sign blocking the view to the right.

great location. very pretty. the girl who is the manager is lovely.

as with all b&b, there is no 24 reception so it’s always tricky checking in. I didn’t have access to wifi when I arrived in Catania and I didn’t get the instructions early enough on where the lock box with the key was. but it all worked out in the end. a neighbor helped. the corner cafeteria take out (which had good food!) let me use their wifi :)

the host on site didn’t speak English, but was able to connect me with the owner regarding check-in etc. the owner also texted and arranged transportation to the airport and helped with all other questions. we had an early departure and they welcomed us to some cold cereal and fruit prior to leaving which was a very nice gesture!

nothing in particular- extra blankets and pillows would have been nice.

Stayed for one short night. Flight was delayed and we had an early start so had a very quick visit. Room was tidy and comfortable, nice bathroom and located very close to the old town and train station. Left before breakfast was served. They were very accommodating for our late arrival.

Bed was too soft for my liking but thats personal preference. Located up some stairs which was no problem for me but something to be aware of.

Shower is great, bathroom really nice and clean. Good aircondition. The young girl who runs the place is nice, she speaks no English, so we used Google translate. The area is really nice, safe and close to the old town. A couple of great little restaurants in the neighborhood. All in all a decent place to stay for a night or two, but because of the complete lack of view and light in the room, I wouldn't really recommend it, if you like spending a little bit of time in the room. I did not see the other rooms, so worthwhile to check them out.

The room is decorated in black and white, which gives it a quite stark feeling, underscored by the ceiling chandelier which floods the room with a harsh white lite. Other than that, two black bedside lamps. The room is dark, it feels like a cave, one small matted window high up, which gets no light, so there is basically no natural light at all in the room. Reception and breakfast room has no windows either. My room was the Angelica. I had to wait fifteen minutes in front of building before host showed up. Unfortunately my room wasn't tidied up, I stayed two nights.
