Hotel Maxim Axial

Superb location. Unbeatable, I would say, for all the major sites and excellent range of restaurants. Literally round the corner from the Duomo and easy walking distance - even for this oldie - to Uffizzi, Mercator etc. There is a lift, but be aware that it does not service the 4th floor rooms, which are up another two flights of stairs. The staff were exemplary.

Rather limited breakfast, with tinned fruit salad. I had to ask for a duvet as one was not provided in my room.

Located in a bustling pedestrian street. That means my car must follow the crowd while I drove here, and that was a special experience. The hotel is less than 50 meters from Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore. The bells of basilica waked me up everyday at 7 o’clock (the bells rang a minute or so). And it costed me only 4 minutes to walk to Galleria degli Uffizi.

The hotel is located in the Zona Traffico Limitato. The valet parking is a must for relieving the fine of driving in ZTL area. Valet parking is conducted by the staff of a garage (the garage is the cooperative partner of the hotel). When I wanted to pick the car, I must arrange a time with the garage. Sometimes the garage staff arrived on time, but sometimes they could be late for 15 minutes or so.

We could not have asked for a more perfect location in Florence. The Florence Duomo was on one end of the street and Piazza della Signora (Palazzo Vecchio) was on the other with shops, restaurants and gelato shops just steps away. Reception was friendly and helpful and check in/out was very easy. The room was large and well apppointed with a clean, modern bathroom and comfy beds. Wi-Fi and AC worked well. Breakfast was good. We were able to store luggage after check out and taxi was ready when we asked. We would love to stay here again on our return to Florence.

None - everything was perfect

Just loved, loved the staff behind the desk!! They were wonderful and helped us so much with getting cabs, navigating Florence and giving advice on how best to enjoy our time there. They were always a friendly face to welcome us as we went in and out and guide us during our time there. My mom had limited mobility and they gave us some tremendous and very helpful advice on how to handle that while going to museums, sights, etc. They all spoke English well enough to help with things and also taught us how to ask for things in Italian. Fantastico!!

The area where the hotel is is very crowded - this is good and bad. Good - because you are very close to everything but bad because it’s hard to walk around without being in crowds all the time. Not really the fault of the hotel though!!

Location was perfection. Our room was ready early so they allowed us to check in. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms were of a good size and beds were comfortable. Air-conditioner in room worked well- but the lowest it would go is 25°C. The staff were very friendly. There's luggage storage available and the front desk offered to help organize a taxi to the airport.

My only real complaint is that the water from the shower in our room could not go any warmer than luke warm. It wasn't a big issue in summer, but if you wanted to take a warm shower in winter it might be a problem.

You can't beat this location. Everything in Florence is close/walkable but you are basically a block from The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. This hotel room is also about a 10 minute walk from where the airport shuttle/train drops you off which was convenient. The room itself is spacious and clean and has everything you need. Not the coziest, but if you're exploring most of the day you'll be fine. The shower/water pressure and temperature were great. The rooms on my floor seemed to be spread out so you can't hear your neighbors which was great.

My keycard kept acting up so I had to have it reactivated at the front desk twice. Luckily, this happened during business hours. Overall, if you understand that you're right in the center of tourist traffic and that the accommodations are pretty simple, you'll be good.

Breakfast each morning was fantastic. Great selection, pastries, juices x 4, cheese, meats, eggs bacon, sausages, buscotti etc etc brilliant quantity and quality plus the ball staff. Hotel was easy to reach from train station even with wheeling our bags over one very large bridge by station- the only other obstacle was 4 steps when turning at another bridge. 10 minutes walk in all. Would highly recommend.

Beds good but very hard. My husband didn't notice but I wasn't to comfortable by morning. Solution walk more so sleep solidly 😆. Our packed breakfast for our early train was a real disappointment after the amazing buffet breakfasts. A boiled egg, small juice box - cordial not juice, a mass produced very sweet small shop muffin and packet of biscotti each. We did expect a croissant or some pastry and some cheese and salami - enough for breakfast not a snack. All that would be easily packaged the night before. We had to buy breakfast at the station to keep wolf from the door. Otherwise I couldn't praise the hotel enough.

This was a nice hotel just 1.5 blocks away from the Duomo. There's a small elevator. The hotel covers about 3 floors. The front desk is on the third floor, and my room was on the first. I was in a larger double room. The bathroom was small, but clean. The toilet had a built-in bidet which was really nice. Breakfast was good. They had scrambled eggs, and the usual pastries, cakes, etc. They had yogurt, cereal, and milk. There were two coffee machines were you had the choice to make your own espresso, cappuccino, or get hot water for tea. The coffee was good, and I was able to add extra shots of espresso to my cappuccino. The location is great for walking to the various sites. My room did overlook the street, so if the window was open you could hear the people and sometimes smell cigarette smoke. The window blocked out most of the noise, but be prepared for the church bells every morning at 7:00! Luckily, the AC was still available, so I didn't need to keep the window open. It was kind of fun to people-watch right from the room.

The mattress was quite firm and hard. I like a firm mattress, but this one was too hard for me. If it would have had a pillow top it would have been much better. Pillows were good.

The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect for a stay in Florence. Two steps away from the Duomo and all other historic landmarks. Staff were super pleasant, the room was comfortable and everything was very clean.

Breakfast choice is only good if you get there early in the morning (in our last day we got there towards the end of the service and there was no fruit left). The bedrooms could be a little better insulated for noise, the hotel is in a rather busy street and we could hear a lot of people at night passing by.

Location - excellent. Next door on one side, an amazing gelateria. Next door on other side, another amazing gelateria. What's not to love! Duomo 100 yards North, Ponto Veccio 450 yards south, Uffitzi gallery 320 yards south. Restaurants, cafes shops all around. The woman who facilitated breakfast - excellent. Other staff very good. Lift rather slow - but it worked! Communal parts could do with a bit of a refurb. Bed - dead comfy. Overall value for money - very good. We were very happy there.

The communal parts of the hotel could do with sprucing up a bit, but no big deal.
