The Palazzo Marcello was a beautiful hotel. The location was very easy to get too. The room was spacious with an unbelievable view of the canal. Luca, the front desk manager was friendly, courteous and very helpful. It also helped that he spoke English! The other front desk attendance, beautiful young ladies, were just as friendly and helpful! The breakfast, which was included, was one of the best buffets we have ever had. It had just about anything you could have wanted or needed. Again, the staff was very attentive and courteous. When we had to leave early, before breakfast on our final day, they gave us a breakfast to go! We would definitely go back and stay again. We also would highly recommend the Palazzo Marcello to our friends and family

There was nothing not too like!

The location was just how I hoped it would be. Within walking distance (with cases) from the main train station, yet fairly quiet side street overlooking a side canal. The building as you would expect was a traditional build with history, it had real character. We loved the traditional courtyard garden where we had breakfast under umbrellas and late afternoon coffee. It was so serene and beautiful with lots of plants surrounding us. Staff were very friendly, especially Roberto the barman, who knew his history and made great drinks.

We paid extra for a canal view but unfortunately were woken most mornings (about 8am, so not too early) with the refuse boat under our window, a lovely view but if we go again we will have a room in the back.

Lovely communal areas, great views of the canals, great location, very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the bar area and the small areas dotted around the hotel to sit and read etc. Room/ bathroom was a bit small but it is Venice so not unexpected. Bed was super comfy, plenty of hot water.. generally an excellent hotel. This is my second stay here and I would happily return.

Some of the breakfast was a bit basic with average quality food, could do better here, would have liked fruit juice rather than squash for example. There was fresh grapefruit to squeeze yourself but the squeezer didn’t work properly.

We absolutely loved this hotel. We have just stayed for five days and were made to feel very at home. The hotel is in an excellent location with walking distance to the bus and train station and a pleasant walk into the centre. A quiet but very scenic location. Breakfast was lovely with fruit, croissants. yoghurts and cheeses etc. It made a lovely start to the day with very delicious coffee. Our room was well equipped and very comfortable. A pretty courtyard garden was the view from our window. Finally a big thank you to the lovely staff who made our stay very special. A special mention to Roberta, our lovely barman who chatted with us at the end of the day and shared his friendship and knowledge of the area. A truly special stay and we are already planning our return.

Close to the Venice train station, yummy breakfast and peaceful garden courtyard, very classic Italian styled rooms and old school lift, door locks etc. which was cool, and we had a really big room with a canal view which was 100% worth it. The reception also recommended a nice place for dinner just up the road!

Bed was quite hard and we had stiff backs in the mornings. The reception also charge a bit extra per night per person for just staying in “Venice” which we were unaware of and think should just be included in the price to begin with, thought it was quite odd but apparently this will happen all over Italy?! No complimentary waters or anything in the rooms either.

The hotel is excellent. The location is perfect, the building is impressive and full of great old artworks. It is very easy accessable - 5-10 minutes walk from Plazza Roma and very easy to find. The breakfast is good - there is a lot of different things to choose from. The inside garden is wonderful, the only problem is the pigeons that go on the tables to steal the food :-), but that's in most of the places in Venice. To avoid it - it’s better to sit inside.

Some of the reception ladies were not very pleasant. The arrogance made us feel as if we should feel guilty for making her work by asking to correct the invoice in the morning of check out, after staying in the hotel all week long! I certainly couldn't say the same about the other people who worked in reception. They were really nice and helpful.

The staff was very helpful n noce to talk to. The Hotel was not far from the rail station, its about 10mins walk but its across the train station so need to carry your luggage across. There was a Condola service right outside the Hotel, so it had a personal treatment feeling. Breakfast was good but same for the past 2 days. Had good eatery nearby itself so need not travel far. Got restaurant gift shops and many more nearby.

TV reception was bad. The kettle located in a place where there was no plug in so had to carry over the entire coffee making rack to a suitable location which on the floor plug in.

In the heart of Venice. Only 1 large bridge and 4 steps from a small bridge (turning off actual bridge) to lug ones bags up from the railway station and 10-15 minute walk. Room was fine, a view over the hotel courtyard which was pretty. Wonderful breakfasts in the dining room - hot bacon sausages scrambled eggs, yoghurt, fruit juices x3, fruit, cold meats, cheese etc excellent. Helpful staff. They happily kept my medication freezer packs in their freezer.

The only negative and it was small and will only affect a few people, was the packed breakfast we got as we caught an early train and left the hotel at 7am - breakfast opens 7.30. Remembering we paid for b&b. A very small paper bag each containing a hard-boiled egg, biscotti, kids juice pack and something else packaged I forget what now. Obviously packaged day before and not requiring refrigeration. There was not enough food for an adults breakfast We were surprised. We expected croissant, yoghurt, some cheese, and meat - we would have been happy if these had been made the previous day and put in the fridge. We bought more breakfast at the station. This was the only negative and easily rectified.

Great place to stay. Never know quite what you're going to get when booking from another country....Australia. We booked based on price, location and bed size with breakfast included. We didn't care about having a view as we would be out most of the time. The room was large with a single and a queen bed and also a table and chairs between the beds. Bed was comfortable. Wardrobe for having clothes. Large windows that opened for natural light and fresh air. Bathroom an adequate size. The location was great. Whilst not close to the railway station, it is to a main canal stop for using the canal bus. Quick 10min walk. There are also plenty of little restaurant cafes near the Hotel. Great little shop for buying bags too. It's a nice quiet area but plenty of charm and lights up at night. Front desk staff speak some English and were quiet helpful. Old fashioned style room key which you can leave at reception each time you go out. Lovely inside and outside breakfast area with good choice of food.

The hotel is beautiful! There is an absolutely fabulous breakfast--there was even a citrus squeezer so you could make your own fresh OJ, but no need since the buffet included fruit juices of several kinds. There were eggs, bacon, other meats, cheeses, croissants. Everything you could possibly want. I especially liked the teapots.

Tiny detail-would have been nice to have two keys. Also, the key we got was attached to quite a heavy item [looked like a sink stopper] that I really didn't want to carry around Venice, so I detached the key.
