Hotel Plaza Colonial

The location is great, easy walk into town but easy to arrive as only on the edge of old town. Car park was fine, easy to get in. The common areas were well maintained and clearly recently refurbished. Bed was comfy, shower was good. it was peaceful and the room was spacious.

The rooms really need some TLC. The air con looks (and works) as if it were from the 60s. The key card didn’t work consistently. No mosquito net in the bathroom and no other ventilation other than the tiny window. Decor whilst atmospheric, needs updating. No fridge is a big disadvantage. Pool area is lovely but pool was dirty. I would still stay here but just manage my expectations.

We had two rooms, on the first and third floor. The one on the third floor was beautiful - with a view of the cathedral and the old town. Everything was spotlessly clean. The pool is very nice for cooking off after a walk around town. Breakfast (not included in the room price for us) is across the street and was nice enough.

Some rooms don’t have natural light. (The first rooms we were offered had a wall in front of the window and were quite stuffy). The hotel management then changed them for us and we were quite pleased.

Professional service. Very quiet and clean hotel. An above average large and comfortable bed (I estimate 200x200cm). This is not a backpacker hotel, but rather a business hotel. It is similar in quality to European hotels and definitely surpasses other, even more expensive, hotels in which we stayed in Mexico.

During our stay, the restaurant was not available due to a lack of guests. It didn't matter at all, there were many restaurants within walking distance.

The parking is not for free The steak restaurant related to the hotel had very nice meat, but they overcharged us and when we confronted them, they were ignorant, but corrected it. When we said this to the manager of the hotel, they were very sorry. The pool seems nice, but there was a sign informing that we were not allowed to swim for 1 hour due to maintenance, but then this sign was still there after 2 hours, so we didn’t use it because by then we needed to check out. Afterwards, they said that we could have used it.

This hotel is actually closed for renovation, so our reservation was automatically changed to Plaza Campeche Hotel, and the building is beautiful. very good location for walking. we were able to walk to El Centro in about 5 minutes, to Calle 59 in about 15 minutes. The Catedral is near by and so is the Barrio La Soledad, the trolley stop, the a puerta de Tierra, and El Malecón. Many restaurants and little shops are puns. It is very safe. The staff is super friendly, willing to give recommendations or any information you need. I appreciate the fact that we were able to check in early, about 1.5 hours early, and have to say that staying at several hotels during our trip, this one was had some of the friendliest staff. very welcoming, kind, just wonderful.

The back of Plaza Campeche is located across from a very noisy restaurant, and the windows are very thin, so the first night the restaurant had loud music until 2-3 in the morning. it was hard to sleep, but not impossible. It is not he hotel’s fault, but if you get one of the rooms in the back, it does get loud.

Great location and friendly and very helpful and polite staff. Nice pool. I liked the fact that the girl cleaning the room sussed by night 3 that I really DID want and use the extra blanket I'd asked for, and she made the bed using it. Most hotels, including this one on the first few nights, make the bed the way THEY want and not how the CUSTOMER wants it. This made a nice change.

WiFi fluctuated often.

We booked Hotel Plaza Colonial, but after the booking we were told that the Hotel is closed and instead we would become a room in the Hotel Campeche (next to it). Hotel Campeche was really nice, felt like an upgrade. The room was good, with a nice view and sunlight. Good working air condition and small but nice pool. Very good location to explore the city, staff was always helpful. One if the beste showeres i had in Mexico (pressure and heat control).

A fridge in the room would be nice. The breakfast was not as good as the hotels overall appearance would let you expect.

room has everything one needs. location is fine, not very far from the historical centre. breakfast was a bit expensive but good quality. The gentleman in charge of the breakfast canteen is very responsible. this morning the toast that the waiter brought us was a bit burnt. The gentleman in charge of the breakfast room saw it at a glance and immediately ordered the waiter to take it back and change it.

although I asked for a quiet room when I was booking this hotel, the room gave to us for the first night was quite noisy. It's next to the outlet of the hotel's central air conditioner, and the window faces the road. they changed our room to a quiet one in my request for the following 2 nights.

This is a review of Hotel Plaza Campeche which I was switched to after booking. Very clean and comfortable hotel and delighted to find a decent shower with reliable hot water and good pressure! It’s just a few minutes walk from the main square. The lady on reception was very helpful with my problems with booking a bus.

The only thing I didn’t like was booking one hotel and being moved to another - not sure why they can’t sort this out. It made me anxious about the hotel but actually it was very nice and I even stayed an extra night.

Lovely large room, well maintained, airy and bright! Very quiet: hardly heard any sounds at all from street or other clients. Location is just right as well

Only drawback was that the beds were way too firm for our liking. Also, in such a spacious room one would expect a bit more furniture like a sofa or love seat and a small table.
