Maka Hotel Boutique

I loved the location! Walking distance to so many things, but right off the main road so as to avoid all of the traffic/noise. Very close to a gas station which is convenient to be able to get water/snacks/etc. The room is basic but has just what you need and enough space when traveling. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept on while traveling to other countries! The staff was amazing! Helpful and just overall nice, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. There was an issue with WiFi while I stayed there, but the staff stayed in touch about it and did what they could to be accommodating for the inconvenience. It was out of their control but their efforts was much appreciated! The food and drinks from the rooftop bar were great as well! It can be noisy at night so maybe not a good option for families with younger children. I had breakfast there two mornings and it was delicious. It did take a bit so if you are in a rush maybe try to order it as early as you can. I loved the greenery everywhere. Even though you are in the town of Tulum, it makes you feel like you are in the jungle and gives a relaxing vibe. I would for sure stay here again!

The only complaint that comes to my mind is that the pool doesn’t get much sun. It is a very nice, relaxing area, but for me personally I like to be next to or in a pool with an abundance of sunshine while I am on vacation, and this pool did not have that. It isn’t a deal breaker for me to return though (there is a beach!) and it did not effect my trip. But if you are wanting to be able to lounge in the sun by a pool where you stay, this may not meet that requirement.

Comfortable big bed. Really beautiful room with nice big bathroom. Shower was really good. Room was very clean. Party at the rooftop was nice!

Booking said the hotel had free bikes for costumers. But when we asked for them the women said they weren't available because they were fully booked. When we asked longer she told us they had only one bike.. so stating on booking that there are free bikes is actually not true. The hotel is very beautiful and 'instagrammable', but mainly made for looks instead of service and comfort.

The property was great set up in the center of Pueblo Tulum and a 15 minute drive to the beach areas of Tulum. Air condition worked great.

The pool is not really usable considering no sun hits that area at all, there is no sun chairs or anything to lay on after the fact. There is no breakfast on the property and hard to find someone when you want a coffee or tea. Or even an appetizer when you don’t want to leave the property. We stayed for a week so there was a day in there we wanted to just relax and it was tough with no food on the property. Also Berta, the dog.. if you are not a dog person and or allergic, this may bother you. I know our friend is NOT a dog person and Berta is a little intimidating. Overall it was an ok experience

If you want the luxury of having everything done hand and foot for you this is not that property. If you want a property that treats you like family this is it! We mentioned that we are celebrating our 30th birthday and they made up the room for us with little surprises. When the bus driver left us stranded and we needed to get to the airport they dropped what they were doing and got us a taxi. I cannot stress how wonderful the staff is. The rooms are very cute. For some they may be basic but given the natural humidity that is best. Beautifully done and beautiful courtyard. Its an influences heaven.

These are out of the hotels hands but I wanted to let future guests know so that they are ready. -the power went out, while it was annoying the outlets and ac still worked. That was a saver. -animals are loud at night - there is a club on the roof but its not annoying loud.

Beautiful hotel! 2 min walking from the main street where all the nice restaurants, shops and bars are. The bedroom was very pretty and comfortable, and the staff was incredibly nice and helpful.

There's a bar on the rooftop with a DJ playing until late. If you're a light sleeper or if you're travelling with kids, this might not be the right place for you

I absolutely loved staying at Maka The property is beautiful feels like a jungle in the city! The staff makes this place even more enjoyable! I missed my conversation and morning coffee with Mar the barista she is amazing!

If you are thinking about booking this hotel, just do it. I really cannot fault it, good value for money, beautiful place, aesthetically pleasing location is fine with supermarket that is 2 - 3 minute walk away. I split my stay in tulum across three different locations and this was my favourite part. The rooftop bar is cool and plays really good music - yes it goes on until 1 am but who cares when you're on holiday and it's not every night. Super friendly staff, food is good and affordable - nothing bad to say! When i return to tulum I will stay here again. Also we hired a car and there was free parking available at the property which was useful.

absolutely beautiful location and hotel, food was amazing and best of all the service and staff were the best part. They were very welcoming and helpful, helping us make the most of our trip in tulum. the location was great being close to everything, the decor of the hotel was beautiful and very picturesque. the food was better than most of the expensive/higher end restaurants in tulum, make sure you try the breakfast and poke bowl it’s the best you’ll ever taste! overall a great experience and would definitely recommend.

The layout of our room was a little uncomfortable to get up and down from the steep stairs, would suggest a more comfortable/secure staircase to get up to the second story of the room. other than that it was absolutely amazing! very zen, beautiful and clean.

Having travelled all around the peninsula, I would not return to Tulum. Traffic, crowds, ugh. But this hotel is a complete oasis. Beautifully designed, greenery everywhere, lovely rooms with super comfy beds and nice showers. It does have a rooftop nightclub till 1pm two (or maybe three?) nights a week, so if you’re not into that check when it is before you book. Worked great for our family, the younger two went dancing while the parents sat in the bar with a beer.

Breakfast was good, and you can eat in the garden area by the pool, which is lovely. but it takes an absolute age to come so factor that in!

We booked the Maka Hotel at the last minute due to reading bad reviews for an airbnb we had booked months prior. We were a bit skeptical at first because the price was low and it said it was a hostel too. The Maka Hotel far exceeded our expectations and we were so glad we made the switch. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast bar by the pool stays open until about 3pm and serves a really good avocado smoothie that I highly recommend. The pool is clean but very cold. Perfect for a quick dip. The rooftop bar is nice and plays good music. People from neighboring hotels also stop by so it's a good place to meet people as well. Our room was on the 3rd floor and the music from the rooftop bar was not a problem. Our room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The air conditioning in the room was great. The grounds are clean and well kept. Lots of places to eat within walking distance. The only downside I can think of is there is no elevator so if you are staying on any level other than the ground level you will have to carry your luggage up the stairs. The staff was very quick to help us with ours. Overall, great place to stay! We will definitely be back.
