Belfort Hotel

The bedroom was small, but comfortable and clean. The bathroom was also very clean, and they provide us with hair/shower gel and soap. The towels were replaced daily. The breakfast is tasty and varied. The staff is nice and always attended my requests. It's bit far from the city centre (up to 1 hour of walking), but there are buses and trams in the opposite street that put you there in 15 minutes. The bedroom windows are a bit old, so sound insulation isn't the best; however, this didn't prevent me from sleeping well.

The coffee wasn't replaced in the bedroom, so I only had 1 coffee sachet for 5 nights. The original pillow was too stuffed and big, but fortunately there was a smaller one (more adequate and comfortable) in the closet. The shower is doorless, which can make it a bit difficult not to wet the entire bathroom floor, but it has a decent space. My bedroom was one of the few that didn't have a desk, which was definitely an upset, but the staff allowed me to use the common room whenever I needed.

bathroom was modern. bedroom was very spacious. had a fan and a safe in the wardrobe. tea making facilities and a tv. very nice bedroom. super close to a tram stop which made getting anywhere so easy. just buy a GVB day ticket. having stayed in the centre of Amsterdam before it was actually nice to be outwith a little and just make your way in when needed. only took 20 minutes at most on the tram.

definitely thinner walls so if some people were loud you could hear them but it wasn’t that bad. we were in the basement so no window (which we knew when we booked), the only problem was because there was no window there was a fan thing to regulate air and the noise it made was unbearable at times. definitely would recommend this hotel just maybe not the basement.

- no air con (wasn’t a problem the week we stayed but can imagine it would get very hot in the room in warmer weather) - staff not very friendly, some were nice but others didn’t seem to want to be there at all

The bedding and mattress was good quality and comfy. The rooms were kept very clean - and thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis. The location was good for transport links and good access to Vondelpark. Some reviewers have complained about the noise/heat etc. but in reality, the hotel is as it's described and very good value for money all things considered.

The rooms are really hot, although this was to be expected as it was not advertised as having air-con and it was a particularly hot weekend. The transport links are great, but its closeness to the tram and the road means that opening your window to cool your room down means letting in noise from outside.

Room was cosy and super comfortable. Plenty of space to store items and was super quiet. Smart tv meaning we could watch Netflix, Youtube etc. Was right next to a Tram Station which can take ya wherever you need. And staff rounded out the stay by being super nice!

There was no air conditioning in the rooms under ground so the room was hot and muggy. There was a fan though that helped cool it down. Also there is no iron in the room.

for the money we paid, it was great. we looked just for a place to sleep and although the room was small for 3 people, it was very clean and tidy.

a bit small but we are not picky people. there was no thermostat for the heating so we switched the heat on at midnight when we went to sleep and woke up in a sauna at 5 am. but we did this because one of us had ridiculous sensitivity to cold, so I cannot blame the hotel. however a thermostat to control temperature would be an addition.

We found the Belfort to be in a very good location for visiting, it was an easy walk to Vondel park and the museum quarter and an easy bike ride into the city centre. We also used the hotel's bikes to take two day trips to Zaanse Schans and to Muiderslot. The bikes hired from the hotel were not great, in fact, probably the worst we've hired and in retrospect we should had gone to a proper bike hire place where they would have been cheaper and in better condition. The room was perfectly adequate, clean and good value for money. Surinameplein is very convenient for buses and trams and also has some nice bars nearby (Oslo bar did nice food and was very friendly, and Rayleigh and Ramsey is great wine bar that serves lovely food).

The bed was very uncomfortable with lumpy springs, and we were only supplied with two tea bags (I booked this hotel because it had tea and coffee making facilities!) We saw a review that claimed it to be noisy, it was a little but it is in a busy location so to be expected.

staff where lovely, good enlish really helpfull and hotel was very easy to find, rooms are small but nice and clean, we also forgot tooth brushes and tooth paste and they had little mini ones to buy at reception was made up

had no aircon, am sure normaly its fine but was really hot this weekend, we had a fan but didnt do the trick and we was roasting in the room

We stayed in double rooms in the first floor and they had everything needed and big windows on the courtyard. Bed were comfortable and the buffet breakfast had good variety and offer for reasonable price. The hotel is near a tram stop and the city center can be conveniently reached in approx 15-20 minutes by tram.

The room was slightly cold and you have to reserve breakfast at least one day in advance.

The location was ok, about 20 minutes by tram from Amsterdam Centraal. The room size was ok with very large windows and black out curtains.

It was a bit noisy as it close to a main street but other than that, everything was good. I thought it was a bit overpriced for the location and overall quality but I guess it is Amsterdam so everything is very expensive.
