Hotel Larende

This small hotel was everything we needed for our holiday in Amsterdam. The location is perfect, it is surrounded by various restaurants (and a food hallen) which you could easily walk to. Tram 13 wasn’t working when we were there, but nonetheless transport was super efficient. A tram stop (Willem de Zwijgerlaan) is literally about 1 minute away from the hotel, which makes commuting super easy. Transport in Amsterdam is very efficient and frequent. The hotel staff was always very nice and helpful. They greeted us with a warm welcome every time we were back at the hotel. Our room was always clean, and towels were changed every day whilst we were out roaming the city. The room was small, but had everything we needed. The breakfast was quite simple, but it is more then enough; great coffee, cold cuts, cheese, toast, cereal, yoghurt, jams, croissants, fruit salad, eggs, juices. Simple yet great and filling. Having read a lot of reviews, and having been assigned a room facing the main road, I was afraid tram noises would be annoying - but they weren’t. We weren’t bothered by the tram sounds every so often. The view from our room at sunset - was beautiful. Our stay was lovely, and we had a blast visiting the city. Also, communication with the staff at the hotel was made very easy through booking.com chat and they answered all questions we had prior to arriving at the hotel.

- The AC in our room was not so cool. Our last night especially was a bit too warm, so we opened our room window for some breeze. - As also read from the reviews beds might be a bit hard, but nothing too uncomfortable. I have read you could also ask for a softer bed at reception :) - A complimentary water bottle would have been greatly appreciated, though there is a mini fridge which one could buy drinks from. Other than that, the hotel gave us all we needed for a lovely stay :)

Enjoyed the stay! The location is very good, you can get to a city center so fast either with the tram, which stops just nearby a hotel; or dedicate a ~20 mins walk to it and have a nice experience of great views. The room has convenient size, it's not too big and not tiny as well. Bed is comfortable as hell :) There is a closet with hangers, safe and mini-fridge. If necessary, one can ask to provide the kettle and tea to the room. Also, free tea or coffee is available at the reception. The staff is very friendly, always smiling and ready to share an advice on best places to visit or how to get to desired spot. Breakfast was included, there is not a super-big choice, however, one will never leave hungry. There's a luggage room available where to drop the bag.

The sound isolation is very good, however some very gentle sleepers may hear a tram, as it runs just beneath the windows. Was no problem for me, didn't bother anytime.

I certainly liked all services about cleaning, breakfast and the room was how I expected.

The only thing I didn't like (but the receptionist solved the problem quite quickly) was one annoying neighbour who complained about the w33d smell... come on we're in Amsterdam and I booked a room with balcony. The cute receptionist just said that the next time, I'll have to ask for another room, so that neighbours can't complain. Ps: if you want to join this beautiful hotel, remember that you're in the city of sin, and if you don't want to smell anything and you don't have the balcony, just close that freaking window and sleep.

We stayed at this hotel from April 17th to 21st . The hotel is located on a single tram line from the Amsterdam Central Station. The tickets for the journey can be bought from the driver with Credit Card. If you plan to ride the tram at least thrice in a day it makes sense to buy the day pass which is valid for 24 hours from the time it is bought. We found the location of the hotel very located to get to most attractions. The hotel is a cozy small place (around 16 rooms). The owner is very friendly and greeted us when we arrived in the morning. The room is adequate with a small balcony overlooking the main road. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was included with the room rate and was quite decent.

Liked everything. It is a tram ride away from the main city center. However, the tram service is quite good.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is in a great location, surrounded by small cafes/restaurants with easy public transports routes into and around the city.

Little bit noisy with doors banging until early in the morning.

We really liked the location of the Hotel. It’s about 15 mins on the tram outside of Amsterdam centre which made the price of the hotel cheaper than staying in the centre. If you are happy to travel and save some money then I’d highly recommend this hotel. The room was good, nice bed, nice balcony to relax in after a long day of exploring. The continental breakfast was good as well, a good variety to choose from and set you up for the day. All the staff were very helpful from the moment we opened the door to the hotel on the first day all the way until we left. It was a great stay and somewhere we’d stay again. The trams in Amsterdam are very regular making travel across the city very easy! It’s also great place to walk as well, as you see so many different sights!

One downside was not having any tea or coffee making utensils in the room from the get go. We had to ask for a kettle, coffee, tea and glasses but once we asked at reception they were very accommodating and got these to use straight away :)

Very close to the tram station. Located at a quiet area. Excellent Staff with nice and warm helping attitude. Very good breakfast with lot of options.

Literally nothing

After 3 nights in Horel Larende we can say that we actually made a great choice :) Very nice&clean hotel, very close to tram 13 station that comes straight from Amsterdam Central Station (15minutes trip), very close to Anne Frank house (15min walk) and to all main attractions (max 30min walk). We had a double room with a balcony facing the street and the tram line but we weren’t disturbed by the sound at all… During the night the tram is not working, so the nights where very peaceful. The mattress was quite hard, as some of the previous reviews were saying, but we slept like babies on it…we actually enjoyed it. The room was medium sized, not too small but also not big, the bathroom was small but it had everything we needed. The AC was a bliss after the cold walks in the city. it’s not a very new and modern hotel, and the breakfast was not amazing, but we believed that we had a great value for what we paid. We had a very early flight when we arrived, so we got to the hotel during breakfast time and they invited us for a coffee and something to eat, which we considered to be a very nice gesture (thank you!!! :) ). At the departure we had a very late flight so they stored our luggages until we left to the airport. Very nice staff at the reception and restaurant, we felt like home. We also recommend the amazing Pazzi pizza next to the hotel and The Breakfast club right behind the hotel.

Everything. The room was lovely cosy and warm .It was a treat to come in as it was very cold outside.Location was very good once you got your bearings.Breakfast was a very good continental.The bathroom was amazing .after a day walking around museums the jacuzzi Bath was so nice. We had a room at the back .It was so quite not a sound we sleep great. The staff were excellent so friendly and helpful .

Nothing really maybe a second or softer pillow but I still sleep great .

We loved the location of this property, it’s fairly central but a little outside of the main city centre. We also loved the breakfast service! Each morning, we were greeted by the hotel owner and made a fresh coffee. Our breakfast included juices, eggs, pastries, deli meats and cheeses, vegetables, fruit salad, yogurt, several types of cereal and several types of spreads. We felt extremely well taken care of throughout our stay. Management and service was amazing.

Our only issue was that the foyer was not air conditioned and as a result, breakfasts were a little hot during our summer stay.
