Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre

Very nice room that was clean and had a great view (we had a high floor looking out over the water). There is a nice fitness center and the very good breakfast had a lot of variety. Its a short walk to central station and not too far from the old town. This hotel does cater to the cruise passengers so there can be times when the lobby, breakfast, etc. can be jammed with folks from the cruise ships, which did cause us to have a long wait to check-in. The amenities, location and value make it a place we'd stay again.

We had to wait over 40 minutes to check in as there were lots of cruise passengers doing the same. The staff didn't seem prepared for the rush so perhaps that's something they could think about handling differently.

Hotel is easy walking distance from the train station and the boat docks. The breakfast was good. Made to order eggs, hot items like bacon or breakfast potatoes, fruit or breads. The room was comfortable. The bathroom was shower only but a good size.

No door/curtain on shower so you had to be careful not to get water on the floor. Need better lighting at vanity for putting on makeup. Need more hooks in bathroom to hang wet towels. After an overnight flight we really wanted to get into the room and sleep but were told we couldn't get into room until at least 3:00 pm. Had no choice but to try and stay awake to go sightseeing in the rain!

a pit far from the center no porter to carry our luggage or shopping stuff we have to do this by ourselves service charge very high since we ordered ice bucket, they mentioned that the service charge will cost us €50 if they deliver it to our room but it will cost nothing if we pick up from the cafe which is too much

Beautiful, spacious room with a wonderful view. Good facilities including a Nespresso coffee maker, decent size fridge, and plenty of storage. We particularly liked the extra long bed which suited my tall partner! We enjoyed that the hotel was slightly out of the city centre and so was lovely and quiet - but it was only one tram stop or a 15 minute walk away from Centraal Station so still convenient for exploring the city. (Ignore how long Google maps tells you it will take - the actual walk is much quicker!) We had room service for dinner one night and the food was very nice and arrived quickly.

The bathroom door had a gap underneath and didn't lock so left little to the imagination, so I wouldn't really recommend for friends or colleagues sharing a room! We also weren't informed before arrival that the hotel takes a 50 Euro per night security deposit (refundable at the end of your stay) - this was fine since we had a credit card but be aware you'll need to do this!

we loved it at the Movenpick. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. The room was stylish and clean. we were given toiletry items and clean towels every day. you could also opt out of this to save resources. we had a lovely view of the river and enjoyed watching all the cruises go in and out. Night time views were amazing. We had breakfasts which were delicious and plentiful. catering for every taste in food. We had a couple of lovely meals and use of the bar. so so relaxing.

A little far from the city centre but the hotel stay made up for this. if you are fit or like cycling it’s perfect.

I upgraded to a Jr Suite as I had 3 people and was told that there would be a sofa bed for my teenager. The "sofa bed" was actually a very hard sofa with a 1 inch soft mattress topper added. The topper was useless as the sofa was so hard. My daughter barely slept and dealt with a painful back every day. For the price of a Jr Suite, we had expected a pull out sofa with a real mattress, so this was hugely disappointing. We asked for a rollaway bed (we saw several rooms with them) and got an additional soft, thin mattress topper that made no difference.

This property was perfectly located close to the central train station, local tram, right on the water and connected to BIMHUIS, world renowned jazz concert hall. The room was spacious, clean and super comfy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although the bar was understaffed so our experience there was a little slow. There is a lot of 'open' space (2nd floor meeting center lobby) that we were able to use for a sit down with snacks with the couple we were traveling with. It was awesome and meant we didn't have to leave for dinner in the really cold weather, as we had picked up snacks earlier. Tons to do within walking or short tram ride. The tram is literally across the street and you can use your credit card to tap on and off - no need to buy a ticket. However, if yoy're riding a lot it may be cheaper to buy a day pass (9 euros). Tons of shopping, historical sights, bars, restaurants SO CLOSE!!!! Next time in Amsterdam we'd most likely stay here again!!!!

We booked this hotel as we could walk to it (with our luggage) from the Cruise Port. It was Kings Day when we arrived, which we had not known before we booked our cruise. So the price of the hotel was ridiculously high. The hotel was very clean, location was perfect for us. The room was very comfortable, with a nice bathroom and shower. Front desk was very friendly and helpful, as well as other hotel staff. I liked that you had to use your key card to use the elevator as it gave me a "safer" feeling.

The bar/restaurant is very small, and the menu is minimal. Okay for a drink and a quick snack, but not a meal. The large restaurant we used for breakfast, has a very large buffet which had everything you could want. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Movenpick is close to the train station and the ports if you are taking a cruise. But it is not close to the cute part of Amsterdam with the canals. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast blew my mind! You could get anything you wanted and 5 different varieties of it! Definitely eat breakfast there.

I didn't like that we had to Uber to the museums and other sights because it was too far to walk. Next time we are in Amsterdam we will stay in the center of town so things are more accessible. Other than the location the hotel was great!

Room was great, location was very convenient in terms of work but not so convenient in terms of the city centre (had to commute by public transport). Staff overall were really helpful but reception staff were clearly not knowledgeable and confusing when it came to check in, check out and payment process for the room.

Reception staff need training when it comes to providing accurate information to all customers about their check in and check out process as well as what to expect when paying for the property and what fees are pending or actually incurred during check out.
