Central location Excellent evening meals with good chefs.Large outside eating area Very pleasant staff Slightly quirky decor Unusual decoration

Given the standard of the evening meals , breakfast was a bit routine comparably. Kellogg's variety packs of cereal not great and no choice of food, same plate each morning. Unable to understand why staff were not allowed to serve us a glass of water until we had ordered a drink from the menu then we were only given a glass. As we were cycling felt this was a bit unreasonable as we were guests and we needed to rehydrate No tea or coffee facilities in room either. Standard of evening meals was a compensation however

The room was spotlessly clean. Crisp bedding and a sparkling bathroom. Dressing gowns and slippers were an added bonus. The hotel’s decor is vibrant and fun throughout and the location is excellent.

We had expected the room to be on the small side from the description. However, it was really small, with very limited storage and surfaces on which to place things. Only two hangers in the wardrobe. Electrical sockets difficult to access for charging.

We loved our room and and the location in the centre of town was perfect. We also had a leafy view over the lovely canal. The breakfast was excellent, although I would suggest less sweet pastries and more options of healthy / brown bread. There was only the option of coffee and tea, but no fresh juice. The service was quite slow with only one person serving several tables, and this could be eased by providing a buffet breakfast, rather than the waitress coming to each table individually.

The mattress was not very firm and rather soft, so it was difficult to have a proper night's sleep. The bathroom was also very dimly lit, so it would be good if they could add some extra lighting. The floor of the bathroom was also not cleaned well and had several stains nearby the toilet.

Great location, staff were very friendly and helpful, assisted with getting luggage upstairs to the room. The room was very nice, in 19th century style but with modern comforts. Bed was great, very comfy. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.

slight issue figuring out where to park, and hotel does not have a specific entrance , have to enter via restaurant. Not obvious.

I love the L'Auberge Dam hotel and always stay there when visiting family and friends in the area, The location is very central and also a lovely base for visiting Amsterdam. The rooms are furnished beautifully in a Romantic French style, the food is delicious and there is a lovely atmosphere too

The only (very small thing) that there wasn't fresh milk for cereal on either morning . There was plenty to eat however so not really a problem

Our room had a lovely canalside view. Staff were helpful and the breakfast was great. Room decor is certainly unique and has been nicely done up so we had a comfortable night for a much better price than elsewhere in NL.

Stairs up to the rooms are "typical" being extremely steep so hold onto the rail for dear life coming down! Entrance is basically just through the (very busy) restaurant so could be improved with a bit of thought.

I have stayed at this hotel many times before to visit family and friends. The decor in the restaurant and rooms is beautiful and the beds extremely comfortable. We ate in the hotel and the food was delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is easily accessible , 20 minutes on the bus from Amsterdam .

The room was very attractive, good breakfast, plenty varieties of different breads. Great location. We enjoyed seeing the angel statues in the building.

The staircase going up to the room was a bit narrow steps.

Check in for the hotel is by the bar area of the restaurant which threw us a bit initially as we were expecting a separate check in area. The rooms are up a Steep Dutch stairway, however I noticed there was a chair lift for older guests. The bedroom was small but well appointed. Lovely bathroom with top notch toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. The hotel is situated right in the heart of historic Edam and literally just a stones throw away from all the top tourist spots. We had a delicious dinner on the evening we were staying. We sat outside under the awning and had very friendly and efficient service. Portions were super generous and nicely presented. They were happy for us to share a dessert. There was also a children’s menu. Breakfast in the morning was in the main restaurant area inside. Each table was beautifully set and the continental breakfast was served on a three storied etage. Delicious selection of cheeses, meats, pastries, yogurts, fresh fruit, jams, spreads and cereals. Again very generous portions. Coffee and tea were freshly made and we were also offered orange juice.

It would have been nice if there had been some bottled water in the room as there was no tea or coffee making facilities that we could see.

Exceptional historic hotel. Lovely rooms with bags of character. Excellent bathrooms. Beautiful town.

Very good breakfast but think we would have preferred to help ourselves from a buffet table rather than wait to be served. It seemed to be wasteful of excellent food.
