The place is retro but in a old school cool kinda way. The staff are so helpful ans welcoming. Room was big enough to walk around the bed which was very comfortable with extra pillows and blankets. The location is also perfect just a very short walk from the octagon.

There is no heating in the room however there is an electric blanket. It's really noisy both for people walking the corridors and the cars outside but earplugs would have fixed that. Main thing I didn't like is there is no cloths storage space. 1 hook on the back of the door so I used the chair as a cloths horse.

Location was very close to the sports venue. Room was adequate, we put the top bunk mattress on the floor for my other daughter as she was confident that the bed would be ok up on the top bunk. It worked better for her having this on the floor. The free parking across the road was excellent. Loved that they had a separate kitchen for us to use so we didnt need to go out and have dinner elsewhere. The room service each day was so welcomed and appreciated. The staff very helpful.

The kitchen facilities had little to no cutlery, otherwise everything else was pretty good in there.

The Leviathan Hotel is associated with the history of men who love men in Dunedin; that was my main reason for staying; to associate with part of our history. It was beautiful inside, and really felt like stepping into the past; I could imagine coming in off the train with my suitcase and lugging it up the stairs (they have an elevator, now, too). The have breakfast provided on the ground floor, which is communal, and they have a gorgeous old-style common space on the first storey in the front angle. Would love to stay there again, especially as I missed out on breakfast because I had to attend hospital! Also, free spacious parking is SUCH a blessing in Dunedin, where you can walk or bus most places.

Some mild light pollution coming through curtains in my room (Leviathan is between two main roads); if a light sleeper, consider a face mask.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the bed was very comfortable. Excellent central location, with plenty of parking available when we stayed on a busy weekend. Super easy check in & out, with 24/hr staff on desk. Close to the train station if you don't have a car. Has everything you need for a short stay or if you're not planning on spending much time in your accomodation.

The shower was basically hot or cold - difficult to get a comfortable temperature. Fine for us for 1 night, might get annoying for an extended stay.

An amazing historical hotel full of history if you take the time to browse. Beautiful courtyard, old school kiwi bar, chandeliers, clean rooms and friendly staff. Thee best location and very affordable !!! I stayed for 2 nights and loved it. Felt very safe and cozy. Small room with small bathroom with great shower, lots of hot water and great water pressure. 3 beds, like a hostel but better and more affordable. Absolute loved it, walked everywhere.

100 percent loved this place.

I liked the fact that a lot of the hotel was what I would have imagined it being back in the day (only bit more modern) the courtyard I thought was extremely nice. as I’m a fan of rustic courtyards. I’m a fan of hotels that have a lot of history, so this was right up my alley. I would stay again because 1) the location is awesome, not far from supermarkets, the Octagon, local restaurants & bars, plus it’s across the road from the Otago settler museum, & the Lan Yuan, Chinese garden. 2) it’s walking distance from all the above.

the room and bed were comfortable. everything was clean and acceptable. the hotel is well located to city centre. the bar and restaurant are good value with good selection menu for both food and drinks.

maybe spruce or jazz it up a bit with newer furnishings, pictures on the wall or paint colour. walls between rooms a bit thin as I heard someone snore loud and all night. luckily I was tired from travelling so I feel asleep despite the noise.

I have always wanted to stay here and this time we visited, I made sure we did. The staff and owner were excellent .. we were travelling by motorcycle and when asking about more secure parking, we were accommodated with parking in the courtyard .. much appreciated! They are all friendly and professional. The hotel is clean and everything is to a high standard. We were very comfortable. We dined in the hotel and the meal was lovely and priced comparably with other places. I must say, in a strange way it was like staying on the Titanic .. as you walk down the halls, it feels like being in a ship. Location is excellent .. a short walk to the outstanding sights of Dunedin - of which there are many! We only wished we had more time!

The wonderful little lady who ran the restaurant all on her own with a elderly gentleman CHEF. She took our orders for dinner, supplied our drinks, charged to our room or cash sales for incredible CUSTOMER SERVICE for 19 customers ...all on her own.. In the morning she was on room servicing making beds cleaning bathrooms and kitchens etc Amazing person who needs recognition and paid appropriately. 👏

Leaving to drive back to Christchurch. We could have stayed a week ...lovely 🏨 hotel Thanks so much

The best things were the 2 heaters in the room, amazing warmness. There were extra pillows and an electric blanket. The shower flow was great, perfect temperature. Tv in the room with cable and some amenities. There was a mini fridge and some coffee and tea sachets. A small table and a couple of chairs. The hotel was huge! Easy to get lost at the beginning. Sooo close to the city centre! And to make things even better, free parking!
