The Moorings Motel and Apartments

Lake Wanaka is right outside the window of the room. The weather was very nice when we arrived. The sun filled the whole room and made it very warm. Warm floor, warm house. There is also a small stove that can make complementary food for babies. A very nice host who prepared a very comfortable crib for the baby. The hotel's location is great！It only takes five minutes to walk to the center. It's very convenient for eating and shopping. Just remember to make a reservation at a delicious restaurant. I really love the fantastic lake Wanaka. I will definitely come back when baby grows up！

The people I spoke with that worked there were lovely. The room had plenty of space and the shower was huge. The ensuite laundry was fantastic. The kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of space to cook and eat.

I found the bed a little too hard for my preference, but that is always so personal. There was a window from the apartment above looking down into the living room of my apartment from what I can tell which I didn't notice until I was running around partially undressed.

Love the house. It has a family vibes. House is clean and bed is comfy. There are 2 washroom, 1 at the ground level and the other attached to room on the upper level. Walking distance to the shops, restaurants and lake. Can the the lake from the patio area. There is a cute exotic shorthair cat near he apartment office. Staff is friendly too.

Nothing!

Everything was perfect! Location couldn’t be better! A really cozy apartment with a fireplace for cold times and an A/C to fight the intense heat of summer. Excellent kitchen with everything one may need. Super good and modern shower. A deck with a wooden table and chairs with the lake view for meals outside. And of course a super friendly host! Definitely the best hotel among all those that we stayed in during out trip on the South Island!

This is really one minor thing — the door in the bedroom on the upper level in the room 5 was very squeaky so we really struggled to open or close it without waking up the toddler sleeping inside!

Most things

We were in room 5. The bathroom was a bit tired, and the sink was SO low. But the main issue with it was it was quite damp in the bathroom / smelt a bit fusty. E.g. when I opened a new loo roll from the cupboard under the sink, one side of it was wet. The towels wouldn’t dry in there, and there was nowhere outside the bathroom to hang them to dry. Also, there was nowhere in the kitchen area to hang the tea towel.

We had a great room - very large in size as well as the bathroom - with a fantastic view of Lake Wanaka - the photos are a true representation of what you get. Very handy having the laundry on site and we were able to borrow a clothes horse to hang our clothes as the weather was very warm. Great location - very easy walking distance to anything you would need. A very cute cat lives on site who is happy to be patted!

We booked the 2 bedroom apartment and just loved it. The staff were great and they had a resident cat named Claude who my daughter could not get enough of. Hands down the best shower in any accommodation I have ever experienced - great water pressure and heaps of it. The location is perfect.

My only critique is that the room did not have a washing machine and dyer. There was a separate room close by for all the guests which was coin activated though. Travelling with a family and having a full itinerary meant we could not really use the communal facility. It would be great if they installed a washer and dryer into each apartment.

Peter was very welcoming when we arrived and showed us to our Apartment. There was heating on as we arrived later in the evening which was a nice touch. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfy and there was the bonus of a lake view and outdoor seating area that was private. We loved having a visit from Claude the cat and enjoyed chatting to other guests and Peter when we saw him. Lovely quiet place for families.

Very handy to the dinosaur playground and restaurants. My kid loved it soooo much! We love the view from the master room. It had two bathrooms which is helpful for a four people family The staff are very friendly and helpful.

There was no bathtub for my three-bedroom motel but it was in the pictures. Also, there was an innovation next door in the bathroom so it was a bit noisy the next morning.

located right across from the lake, beautiful view from the room. steps away from downtown are restaurants. bed was comfortable.

the bathroom was bizarre. sink was really low, about 24” high, the bath spigot stuck out in the middle of the wide wall with the controls on the other wall. no towel and trash service. if you can overlook a weird bathroom, and a bit of self-service, the view and the rest is pretty nice.
