Wanaka Hotel

The hotel is well-presented and conveniently located close to the centre of town with shops and cafes all being located within a pleasant walk of the hotel. The room was comfortable and has been renovated in recent years to a nice, fresh modern look and feel. There is a nice cafe on site that serves a comprehensive menu for breakfast and lunch. (I did not take notice of evening meals but I believe there is also a restaurant on site and bookings may be required during popular times.)

When fully booked, the guest car park may become full resulting in the need to park in an overflow area further away from the rooms; however, this is manageable. The room I stayed in had no step-free access which made managing bags only a little more difficult but again was not unmanageable.

Room had a view was clean and well appointed, staff were helpful. The hotel was quiet but in the centre of Wanaka.

Access to accommodation from car park was difficult. The entrance and hidden back steps past the guest kitchen was difficult to locate. I overlooked reading that there was no lift and combined with back hotel entrance from car park and my difficulty lifting and carrying a bag meant I was not independent and had to reply on others. Which was given thank you but something additional to ask already busy staff.

We got a little lost but finally figured out where we were and found the hotel. It was a little busy so it took some time to get registered. Our room was spacious and very clean. We had sliding doors onto a balcony. The bathroom was very nice and the bed was comfortable. The parking is a little convoluted, being behind the hotel somewhat and traffic is only allowed to go one way. There was a saloon next door that had really good food and cold beer. The staff at both places were pleasant and helpful. And we weren't a very far drive from the Wanaka Tree!

I had assumed from the pictures that the hotel would be in a more open, less populated area, but it was very busy around there and we weren't quite as close to the lake as I had expected.

Booked bed with 3 beds but i ended up withe My daughter as my driver and grandaughter with me as i'm 77 years old so my daughter ended up seeing receptionist if she could get separate room for me and the receptionist gave her the room from theirs and the only thing was i had to move back with them on the Saturday night as the room was booked for the night and i moved back after that.which i thought was very nice of her and the staff were very friendly nice stay for Wheels of Wanaka event.Thank You

Wānaka hotel is located right in the heart of Wānaka! Only a short stroll out the front door you will find a supermarket, restaurants and cafes and shopping. The bed was comfortable and our room had everything we needed for a short stay

The size of the room was quite small overall but we were only there for 1 night which was fine. The room also got quite hot and with no air conditioner and no fly screen on the doors/windows we had to rely on the small desk fan that was provided to keep us cool.

The location was perfect for our stay, an easy walk to just about any location in the town of Wanaka. The staff were helpful and friendly. I am eternally grateful to the staff member who located my passport after we left, conducted some great detective work and tracked me down so that I could retrieve it. Exceptional staff. Our room was upgraded to the Royal Suite which suited us perfectly for our stay. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. I would definitely recommend the Wanaka Hotel for anyone planning a trip to Wanaka.

There was nothing I didn't like about this accommodation. Great views and location.

Location is so convenient and we always choose the Wanaka hotel if it is available. We love the fact that a full kitchen with utensils and upgraded cooking facilities is provided for guests as well as a laundry and secure bike storage. It’s also great to have an outdoor space with every unit. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Rooms are a decent size and there is good off street parking.

No real negatives

Really good location - short walk to restaurants, cafes and shops. Room was a good size with a comfortable bed. Great views of the mountains and lake from the balcony. Shared laundry and kitchen facilities available. Staff were helpful when asking for assistance about the room.

Shower water pressure is like a tiny trickle, and water mixer was not great. Can be very noisy late at night (even into early morning) from the drunk patrons at the Mexican restaurant downstairs, as well as in the hallways due to them using the hotel's toilets. Hotel parking for guests is limited but you can also use the hotel patron parking instead.

The room was quite clean and medium-sized. The balcony outside was great since it had views of the lake. The location was also quite nice since it was easily within walking distance to the main area including the lake front.

The driveway by the main entrance was one-way so you had to circle back into the carpark after checking in. The carpark was decently sized but it was quite full. The kitchen facilities were out the back by the parking so it required going outside. There was a bit of lugging baggage up and down stairs since we were on the second floor.

Location is superb, within a short walking distance to the Lake Wanaka and shops. Room is clean and tidy.

Unfortunately, it was a bit hot when I was there and there is no air-con in the room. The airflow aren't great. We were provided with a small fan that hardly does anything. As we were on the ground level, we are unable to leave the door to the courtyard open. The is a small opening on the window which doesn't help much. Otherwise, the location and value for money is good.
