Coimbra Monumentais B&B0

Very well placed for the University & within walking distance of excellent restaurant, pasteleria & easily walkable to historical centre, despite lots of steps. Secure parking is also available. We were warmly welcomed by Christina & all the staff were helpful, polite and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and every aspect of this hotel was spotlessly clean & well designed with high quality fittings.

The only negative aspect was the lack of the signage, or visibility of this hotel, so we spent an hour trying to find it. Our satnav didn’t recognise the address, so we had to stop & ask directions, then phone the hotel.

The staff were just great and super friendly., Had to call because the small street that the front door was on couldn't be found by GPS but when called they gave great instructions how to get there. There was private off road parking. The room was clean and modern, had a fridge, sink, cook plate and plates, glasses, sink. The shower was great too. The breakfast was plentifull, with different breads, croussants, butter, ham and cheese, plus a wonderful selection of food. Plus coffees, tea's, juices, milk it was a smorgasboard. Even though the students had their grad parties next door as we heard them when we were sitting on the terrace, once in the room it was quiet.

. PLEASE IGNORE THE TERRIBLE REIEW I POSTED FOR THIS HOTEL. I WAS JUST LOGGING ON TO POST MY REVIEW FOR COIMBRA MONUMENTAIS THEN MY LAPTOP WENT DEAD. THE NEXT DAY I BEGAN TO REVIEW WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A DIFFERENT HOTEL ALTOGETHER. THE COIMBRA MONUMENTAIS WAS SO BRILLIANT THE STAFF WERE CARING AND WENT TO A GREAT DEAL OF TROUBLE FOR US AS I HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES AND THE BED, ROOM AND BATHROOM WERE SO CLEAN, IN FACT SPOTLESS DOES NOT SEEM ADEQUATE, CHARMING AND COMFORTABLE I FEEL SO BAD ABOUT THIS MISTAKE. WE WERE IN SUCH A STATE WHEN WE GOT TO THE HOTEL AND BEATRIX MADE MY HUSBAND A MINT TEA DBECAUSE HE WAS FEELING ILL. SHE LET US PARK OUTSIDE AND LEFT US TO CALM DOWN AND MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO SLEEP, EVEN THOUGH WE SHOULD HAVE MOVED THE CAR SO THAT OTHER GUESTS COULD PARK. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT WE WOULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT HER. SHE POPPED UP TO SEE HOW HE WAS AND OFFERED HELP AND GAVE US REASSURANCE. THE FOLLOWING DAY CHRISTINA WAS INCHARGE OF BREAKFASTS. THEY WERE DELICIOUS AND VARIED AND SHE MADE US SO WELCOME. SHE WAS FUNNY AND HELPFUL AND THOUGH WE COULDN'T SPEAK MUCH WITH HER DUE TO LANGUAGE DIFFICULTIES WE WERE LAUGHING AND WE FELT RESTED AND HAPPY. WE HUGGED HER BEFORE WE LEFT TOO WE WERE GIVEN THE CODE TO PARK ON A SAFE PRIVATE AREA A VERY SHORT WALK AWAY. THIS IS A BIG PLUS BECAUSE COIMBRA IS A VIBRANT CITY WITH PARKING AT A PREMIUM.

It was a bit difficult to find as I was only just getting used to google map.

The front of the house made us uncertain (old houses needing reconstruction in a very narrow street), but it turned out that the inside is well restored, there is a safe parking lot nearby, luggages can be transported from the backyard, so it was a positive surprise. The hosts were very kind and helpful, breakfast was perfect. The room was small, but it was perfect for a short stay in Coimbra. The hotel is in walking distance to the university and the centre, we had some discount in a nearby restaurant offered by the host, it was a fine place. So, I would certainly recommend it.

Lovely BnB located really close to the old university in the center of Coimbra. Ideal location to easily reach by foot all the most famous tourist attractions of the city. At the check-in, the owner was very kind and helpful, recommending us places to visit and restaurants for dinner. The breakfast was excellent. A nice buffet was provided and it was possible also to ask for bacon to be cooked on the spot. I would recommend this cozy BnB to anyone who is stopping in Coimbra while on vacation in Portugal.

Breakfast consisted of a wide variety of local pastry, fresh fruit and yoghurt with a good choice of cereals plus everything for some decent sandwiches and hot and cold beverages - nothing left to be desired. This B&B, located very close to the Coimbra University faculties on ‚the other side‘ of the hill, appears in a modern design with light colours and comfortable furniture.

For travelers using public transportation some recommendations regarding the ticket system and the frequent busses to the nearby plaza republica could be helpful.

We liked everything, from the welcoming personnel to the hotel's facilities. The atmosphere was super welcoming, the breakfast - tasty and complete, the room was big enough for 2 people, very clean and nice, even with a mini-kitchen ri, the hotel's location was just perfect: in 3 min walk from the Coimbra University, the city itself was very cosy and picturesque, loved it. We even were lucky with the weather more or less. Grateful for that beautiful experience.

Nothing to mention

Nice location near the university. Lovely staff. Very clean, comfortable bed and good shower. Good breakfast. The kitchenette was too tiny to really do anything, but it was useful to have a kettle and fridge.

There wasn't much point in the TV as the picture quality was very bad and there were only a few channels. The place also houses students and the walls are paper-thin, so you hear everyone else in the building -in our case they made noise all night (it wasn't the weekend). You will probably need earplugs.

The location of this property was great. Easy walking distance to restaurants and bars and the university is just around the corner. The staff were very pleasant and the room although small contained everything you needed. The breakfast was good and could be taken inside or out in the garden if the weather was nice.

The street it is not does not look very appealing but inside the rooms and facilities are very modern and clean.
