Funchal Design Hotel

The most enjoyable in the hotel was the friendly staff. I never felt like "in a hotel", but more like "going home every night" to the people I like. On top of that, a clean and spacious room, excellent breakfast and great location in the center. Thanks to Artur and Leticia for making my stay memorable!

The wifi was weak in the room. And the windows were a little difficult/unintuitive to close (a closed window would turn off the A/C automatically). The safe in the room didn't work (dead battery).

The location for breakfast was comfortable and the food provided was more than enough to set us up for the day. Leticia, in particular, provided a friendly, welcoming and chatty companion during our stay.

As is the case so often in hotel rooms, the bedside lighting could have been better. As we 'mature', better lighting is needed to read comfortably in bed. Also in our room (304) there was no shelf or bedside table on one side of the bed which was a little annoying.

Good location, almost in downtown Funchal. Several restaurants and shops nearby. Kind staff, willing to help. Quick response and follow-up on some defects which I reported. Good breakfast.

Several parts of the room show some wear and tear. Capacity of the air conditioning is not enough. The hotel is rated as a 4-star hotel, however some facilities can only be used in another hotel (for which the hotel is offering free shuttle service)

I recently stayed at the Funchal Design Hotel and had a great experience. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay, which made me feel very welcome. The breakfast was also very good with a wide variety of options to choose from.

Wish there were more cats at the hotel :)

Staff amazing and funny, location nice (7 minutes from beach), rooms good size, shopping centre and nice restaurants nearby. Breakfast was nice. Spacious cupboards. Rooms were clean, modern and had nice views.

No iron if you want clothes ironed youuu have to pay a service. Additional facilities like spa and gym are at the monte site. In the smaller rooms, there is no privacy between bedroom and bathroom.

Excellent customer service. All staff members were fantastic - we had an early morning flight and got our breakfast packed to take with us. Really loved our room - spacious, nicely decorated with little kitchenette and lots of space for clothes. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel is perfectly located in the very close proximity to all attractions in the town.

- Great place near old town (plenty of good restaurants) - La Vie shopping center nearby - Easily accessible from airport - Great job by cleaning lady

- Bed was not comfortable (hard and small) - Shower tended to spill water all over due to clogged drains - When you turned on the light on toilet you would wake you partner sleeping in bed… - Breakfasts could use more variety

The staff, hotel, breakfast, and location are all perfect and deserve a very high rating. It is a very nice boutique-style hotel and everything worked.

We found it a bit noisy, the street down below had noisy cars and people till late that evening. The street light was also a bit bothersome although we had all possible curtains drawn. This however is minor as it is really a nice hotel with a very good breakfast and friendly staff in a good location.

location was ideal and enabled exploration of old town on foot, great breakfasts and staff.

it would benefit from more communal and sitting spaces other than the dining room, but appreciate with its great location space is limited.

Breakfast better than anticipated. Location excellent for parking garage, grocery store and airport shuttle. Walking distance to many many restaurants and downtown Funchal.

Shuttle on demand for Quinta Mirabela. Limited choices of times (3) and taxi to and from Mirabela would be expensive.
