Travellers Pearl by Storytellers

Check-in was done online and we entered the accommodation using a code that we received from Cristina the day before our trip. Cristina came by a few days later and introduced herself, we found this very pleasant. Communication with her was always very quick and pleasant, and every issue could be clarified easily. The apartment was always clean and the staff is very nice. The historical center and all the restaurants are within walking distance from the apartment. We would definitely recommend the Travelers Pearl.

The apartment was clean, comfortable and in a convenient location. Accessed by door codes, the process of checking in was super easy. The apartment was extremely spacious, with air-conditioning throughout. Cleaners regularly came in and replenished towels which was an added bonus. Location was good, close to many restaurants, the bus and cable car station (for excursions). Everywhere we wanted to go was accessible by foot. We used the shuttle bus from the airport, and found it extremely easy to navigate to the apartment from the first stop. Parking was also available toward the back of the building if necessary, although we did not use this.

Couldn't fault the apartment personally, although others, less able, may have found difficulty in the uphill walk from central Funchal (not at the fault of the hosts, but simply due the nature of the Island).

Amazing find - great location, very spacious apartment with everything required provided, exceptionally clean & beautifully decorated. We stayed in 'Toronto' which had a balcony with sea & mountain views. Very helpful team - who allowed us to drop off our luggage as we had arrived early and again allowed us to leave our baggage to collect after our stay. Very responsive to phone calls and messages, all in perfect English too.

The apartment block doesn't look like much from the outside but as soon as you're through the door it's stunning and is in such a central location within walking distance to the beach & local restaurants.

Access to the property was via keycode and all communication with the host was very good. The location of the property is excellent - within walking distance of the sea front and multiple bars and restaurants. The apartment is spacious, modern and clean with efficient and easily controllable air conditioning.

Overall, the facilities at the property are very good so these are some minor points which could easily be remedied to make a stay even more enjoyable. The property would benefit from having a bedside lamp in bedroom 2 (as there is in bedroom 1) and perhaps a lamp in the living area as the overhead lighting is very bright. It would also be good to have a hook in the bathroom to hang clothes when changing.

Loved that there was an elevator in the building and breakfast arrived everyday. Cleaning ladies are fabulous Greatly appreciated being able to store our luggage beyond checkout time so we could take a tour of island.

Need to have a coffee machine of some type, instant coffee supplied is not the way to consume coffee. Rooms needs some small side tables for drinks, books etc. Bedrooms need some bedside tables for phones etc

The apartment was conveniently located near the old quarter, and close to bus stops to get around Madeira. It's close to many restaurants - our favourite was the Bela 5 Snack Bar. The free swimming area (behind the fort) and the beach bar next to it were also great and pretty close to the apartment. The local Spar was handy - the bigger Continente supermarket was also handy. The apartment is spacious and well equipped. We enjoyed the breakfasts delivered to the door each morning. The air conditioners were much appreciated in late August. Nearby dogs sometimes barked, but they didn't disturb us at night.

Great stay at this very centrally located apartment. Fully functional kitchen with everything you'd need. Big comfy bed! Basic breakfast delivered outside our door in the morning, perfect for our needs on-the-go! Having secure parking available was brilliant for us as we had a hire car.

Only couple of small things were that the shower head doesn't fit into the attachment on the wall which makes things a little awkward, there was no key provided for the safe and the futon/sofa isn't super comfy for sitting, but mostly we were out exploring the beautiful city so these were minor things!

A very good location to explore the centre of Funchal on foot with a whole street of small rustic cafes and bars near by. Close to the cable car terminal that takes you up to Monte, the bus station and Marina. This apartment was nicely presented and beautifully clean.

The gated parking is very tight if all the apartments are occupied. We found that reversing in was easier and that you didn’t want to be the last person trying to park. Leaves you feeling a little nervous especially as the hire car deposit is so large. Definitely recommend a small car if you want to stay here.

What stood out to us was how quickly the staff responded to our communications or requests. The room was clean and comfortable and the location is right in the center of Madeira's Old town next to so many eateries and only minutes to the cable car which aslo served ad great pickip spot for tours. The keyless entry and the balcony were nice. During our stay, I went on an excursion that unexpectedly took longer than what was advertised and the staff at Travellers pearl went out of their way to help me sort out my luggage situation. It just goes to show their level of commitment for their guests's comfort and their support.

Great location. Easy to access at any time with the code. Clear instructions provided. Breakfast was nice and enough for us but might not be for every taste. Supply of tea, coffee and sugar. Daily clean and replace of towels Restaurants and supermarket close by.

Not much kitchen stuff to cook. Only 1 plate and cup per person available. Parking was an absolute nightmare to park. Luckily my friend had great driving skills, otherwise it is impossible to park there when there are other cars in. Also, full most of the time. Could hear neighbors coming in because of the loud typing code. Would be great if the beeping could be reduced, would make a big difference. Shower leaking after use. May need some sealant or something. No toiletries - shower gel would have been nice. Difficult to communicate with host at times.
