Alegria A Lisbon Boutique Hotel

The Alegria hotel was a delight. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the property was immaculately clean. The location was fantastic, close to all major sites, but just a step away from the chaos of the city.

The only improvement I would make would be the comfort of the bed. Our bed was incredibly firm and we normally enjoy a firm mattress. But this was quite remarkable.

Excellent location in a lovely part of Lisbon. It was very easy to walk to key parts of the city and we especially loved having the park across the street. The room we stayed in was a great size and had everything we needed, including a small fridge and kettle.

This hotel is incredible! Luxury living without the price tag. The location is perfect, nestled in the Praça da Alegria just a minute walk from Avenida de Liberdade where all the great shopping is. This hotel is in a quiet and safe area, but central to everything! Our room was perfect and very spacious with two little balconies overlooking the Alegria Plaza. The hotel exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and room amenities including lovely robes and slippers, awesome hair dryer, nespresso, etc. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this place. We will certainly be back.

Breakfast is pricey when not included in room

Perfectly located for seeing Lisbon on foot. And on a beautiful plaza with fountain and ancient trees. The hotel is small. It was an old hostel completely remodeled a few years ago. The breakfasts are excellent with good service. There are several good restaurants in the streets around it. The rooom was furnished with an antique armoire and desk. The lobby is a museum of antiques and old beautifully bound books. The receptionists are friendly and helpful. An unusual and interesting detail was a "newspaper" with the history of the hotel and surroundings.

The room was small and completely filled with a king-size bed. I know that today that is what seems to be expected, but in this case I think I would have preferred a smaller bed and more space in the room. Unfortunately, the window was on a very narrow street and the building in front was being reconstructed/remodeled, so it was very noisy, and at times I had to close the shutters because it seemed the workmen were practically in the room with us. However, I would qualify this saying it was not the hotel's fault and obviously a temporary situation. And also only during working hours.

The hotel is small and charming, and the location is excellent. It’s close to so many things, yet quiet at night. We had the breakfast one of the mornings, and it was very nice with many choices as well as excellent service. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. We received exceptional assistance from the reception staff every day of our stay. Ines in particular was invaluable in making our time in Lisbon wonderful. She gave us so much information each and every time we asked and was absolutely lovely to our group. The outdoor kiosk that serves coffee as well as drinks and snacks was great for us. After being out on tours and walking around Lisbon during the day, it was relaxing to return to the hotel and sit outside in the kiosk area, enjoying a drink and even live music on some days. We would definitely return to stay here again.

I loved how clean and neat everything was. The rooms were so quaint exactly what I wanted from a boutique hotel. The breakfast was good, and the dining room with the music in the background was the perfect start to our day. I was very happy with my choice for our first visit to Lisbon, as I was traveling with my young adult children.

If I had to choose one thing I didn't like, it would be the tiny elevator. I was afraid to go more than 2 down because of how small it was, but that is expected in such a charming place. It worked fine.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. The Tejo and many restaurants could be reached by metro or on foot within only a few minutes. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, and the staff was very kind. We had breakfast for one day, and it was very delicious.

When having breakfast, the staff asked us to choose from different types of eggs (scrambled, fried, etc.) and which kind of coffee we would like. While everything was delicious, it took a lot of time for them to prepare both, even though only one other guest was eating then. Other than that, we do not have any complains. :-)

It was close to the centre (easily walkable) and the metro. The breakfast was great - fresh and good quality. The decor was lovely and staff were efficient and friendly. The bar in the park was a nice addition.

There was a slight smell of drains in the bathroom sometimes ( not unique to the hotel, this was noticeable in Lisbon). It would have made a real difference to have tea and coffee facilities in the room.

We started and ended our trip in Portugal at Alegria. The location is very central and we walked just about everywhere. The hotel is located on a lovely little park that we could view through our window. It has the most beautiful trees and a cafe. Probably most of all we enjoyed the friendly and hospitable staff, Ines and Jose. They went beyond the call of duty to make us feel comfortable and taken care of. I watched how they managed to do this with all of the customers. I loved the comfortable room, the beautiful bathroom with excellent shower, the decor, everything. I am glad that one day we ate breakfast in the hotel. It is just yummy and super beautiful. I felt totally pampered and at home. I would definitely recommend this boutique hotel to my friends and family. Thank you for everything. Hats off to your professionalism.
