Hotel Valverde Lisboa - Relais & Chateaux

The concierge service was outstanding. Turns out that Lisbon is not for me (crowded, smoky, very hilly streets difficult for walking with injury). So I spent most of my time in the hotel which, although on the busy but chic Avienda, was my oasis from the noise and smells of Lisbon. The concierge staff looked after me wonderfully - booked anything I needed, made calls for me, got me to my Fado concert in the park (a must), just everything! And all in English - I'm good with languages but could not get my ear used to Portuguese. They made my time there special and I was grateful. And the serene breakfast courtyard - the one quiet and calm part of the day was lovely, including a nice little plate of gluten free bread.

My room was a bit tight and it faced the back so there was a whirr of fan noise from the buildings behind. Also a nightclub which thumped till 2AM on weekends. None of this was the fault of the Hotel just the reality of the city of Lisbon. I didn't like walking on the streets as the hills were too much for me and a lot of smokers everywhere. Also, I'm very sensitive to smells and the streets of Lisbon do NOT smell wonderful. Again, no fault of the hotel's - I'm really glad I had it as a respite. The city was not my favorite - but the care and kindness of the people, especially staff at Valverde was wonderful!

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Valet parking is a plus. The hotel is located on the modern boulevard leading away from the city center, but it is still convenient for walking to the main attractions and dining areas. Breakfast is good served in the small garden behind the hotel if you wish. Likewise, evening drinks - there was some live Fado when I arrived which was nice to hear. Room was comfortable, if small. Overall, really nice ambience.

The pictures on booking.com are a little misleading - you might think the hotel is surrounded by gardens - it's not - just a small but perfectly nice garden at the rear of the hotel. Rooms are really small for 500 Euros a night - which is the main gripe. Double check room size if you book. Service is friendly but can be slow.

A gorgeous hotel in a perfect location for exploring the city. The staff were also truly exceptional and made us feel very welcome, with lots of recommendations and knowledge of the area. The concierge was fantastic, and we loved the restaurant and bar area. A special thank you to Diego on the front desk, the wonderful doorman and bar manager (sorry we didn't get your names!). We look forward to returning soon :)

There was nothing we didn't like.

Classy hotel in an excellent location. Great staff, gorgeous internal courtyard, plunge pool and restaurant. It has the atmosphere of a small friendly hotel which is great for a big city. Large comfortable beds with pure linens. We selected a classic room in the new wing which was fine for a short stay. Worthy of being a Relais and Chateaux Property - highly recommend.

Nothing negative to report

An elegant, quiet hotel. Excellent location- on stylish Avenida de Liberdade. Walking distance from main attractions. Welcoming, helpful and attentive staff. Nice decor (on the old-fashioned side) and wonderful meeting rooms/lounges. Big, clean, well-equipped bathroom. Air conditioning worked well. Breakfast may also be eaten in a lovely garden.

Sleeping area in room isn't that spacious, and bed is surprisingly small for this level of hotel and prices. Entrance to hotel is with stairs, no elevator.

Lovely boutique hotel on Lisbon's Liberdade Avenue. Its perfectly located making many of the interesting places to visit well within walking distance. Our room was at the front of the hotel and was so well sound proofed, that you could hear nothing from outside unless you opened a window. We dined on the first night in the restaurant and the cuisine was excellent. The ambience is very relaxing and the hotel has interesting nooks and crannies. Overall a very nice experience.

The mini bar refrigerator could have been a little quieter but that's a minor point to what is a very positive experience.

Great location. Staff when we arrived was super friendly and helpful.

Was awoken at 6am by a load vacuum style noise. Think it can from another building but could not go back to sleep and was exhausted the entire day. Was sooo loud.

Location. This is literally in the middle of the business/shopping/restaurant district. Just so convenient. I LOVE the little courtyard. I was able to have breakfast, tea outside. It was beautiful. The gym is small and cozy. I was able to use it for yoga almost every morning. Very pleasant.

The rooms are kind of small. But I guess that is because of the location.

Fab location, very attentive staff very keen to help. Beautiful property inside and to a high standard.

No robes in the room which was a surprise. Also noise from other guests in room above. We were on a ground floor room.

very helpful staff, very good room with 3.5m ceilings, really comfortable true king sized bed, large bath and walk in shower, excellent breakfast, and very centrally located to walk to most sites and areas. would definitely stay again.
