Hotel Alcides

I had a late arrival, so I communicated with the hotel beforehand. Their reply time was good, quite short. Good with gluten free bread at breakfast. Helpful staff, helped me to find stores in town. Efficient check in and check out.

The staff was always helpful and friendly and the buffet breakfast was very good! It is in excellent location about 75 yards from the main praça in Ponta Delgada and the wharf. Also there were two other hotels on the street and five restaurants/cafes. Also it had a nice restaurant which opened in the evening.

The room was awfully small! That was the only issue; other rooms might not be as small. The other negative was parking; I had a car and had to park several blocks away in a parking facility; luckily it was opened 24 hours.

Really good deal prize for value. Friendly employees ready to help you any time, and always in a good way (I stayed 10 days to form this opinion) Little details like they noticed after the second day I wasn't using too many pillows and removed them after the 3rd day which I really appreciated, the rooms was always impeccable, I would add chrome cast to the TV for Netflix for example. Breakfast was OK, eggs were tasty but too long cooked, breakfast was included in the price I paid and that was a pretty good deal so no complains at all though. They made a little breakfast box for when I left at 4:30 am and I considered that a detail that once again makes a great service. There was no water on the room. I would pay a daily fee to have at least a bottle of water at the room everyday.

No water to drink at the room My charger broke and they did not have one, fortunately the lady of the restaurant borrowed me hers, but I think hotels should always have phones chargers

We really enjoyed the nice building both inside and outside. The stuff was always very nice and helpful. The room was very big, clean, and the services good. In the room one can find some orange towels for free to use at the hot springs around the island. The breakfast was good especially the fresh orange juice and the fruit, really great. Great quality/price ratio.

Actually I have nothing to write. Maybe just the parking was a little bit difficult (closest free parking lot 5 min on foot), but nothing bad.l and it does not depend on the the hotel itself.

Loved the fresh fruit, cheeses, breads , yoghurts, milk, kefir, and all the yummy selections for breakfast. The restaurant was great, with local food. It is know for it’s happy cow beef! Our room was lovely. Comfy beds, spacious bathroom, and we were lucky enough to be at the top of the hotel with a beautiful patio overlooking the roofs and clock tower. The location was perfect - central to everything, in a narrow, cobblestoned street in the historic centre. The staff were friendly and accommodating, doing everything to make our stay as easy and comfortable as possible. We will definitely be back!

The hotel is located in an excellent location. It is close to the bay but away from the main street, which is a huge plus! It is situated near multiple pubs where young people hang out, as well as bars and coffee shops. However, if you open the window at night until 2 am, it can be a bit noisy. The rooms are spacious with large windows that can be opened. The only issue is that if the window faces the street, there is constant noise coming from nearby air conditioner engines. If you are a light sleeper, this can be a problem. The bathroom is very spacious and has everything you need. The breakfast is good and sufficient. They also provide towels for the hot springs (red towels). The checkout time (at least when we stayed) is at 12 pm, so there is enough time to visit Caldeira Velha hot springs in the morning, come back, and have a shower before leaving. There is a parking problem around the area, but there is an underground parking lot very close by with unlimited parking at a very attractive price. Overall, it is an excellent choice for young travelers or couples who enjoy hanging out in local pubs until late.

Can be noisy outside if your room is facing the street and you OPEN a window. If windows are close, then no noise is coming through. Not even the noise of the crowd coming from the near by pubs. There are also air conditioners engines that making noise so open window (we like open window to get fresh air) can be an issue in general. Depends on room location

You get more than what you pay for at Pandora. The location is prime to access the best spots on the island, it’s a 10min walk from a beautiful waterfall that you can swim in and watch the sunset. Lou is one of the most genuine, funny and interesting people you’ll ever encounter. He goes above and beyond to welcome you and make you feel at home. He also gave us tips on where to go depending on the weather. Very cozy rooms and the facilities are always clean. The only downside is having to leave🥲 We will miss you Lou! Outside of being centrally located on a charming cobble stone street, the staff are very helpful. The hotel is historic and has lots of tastleful artwork inside, well designed. Breakfast is also very good. Rooms are partially renovated, lots of towels provided, beds are comfy. Overall solid stay.

not much to say here - my issue in general is that Azores hotels don’t have conditioner provided (just shampoo). Pack your own conditioner!! Also the noise from the downstairs restaurant can be a bit loud, so bring ear plugs if you want to sleep early or sleep in.

There were no problems with checking in or out. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very good and varied. The location was excellent for access to town and waterfront. They were very efficient in the arranging of a taxi for us - for both our arrival and departure. We were perfectly happy with the whole experience.

The room was a bit small - this was ok for one night but not perhaps for more. The view from the window was very uninspiring - again, staying for only 1 night this did not really matter. That's about it!

We had a most enjoyable stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel itself seemed to have been newly renovated with a bright and roomy entrance. We had room 404 which had a covered outdoor sitting area. The room was spacious and the bed large and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful with a variety of hot and cold dishes and freshly squeezed orange juice. Hotel Alcides would be our first choice if we travelled back to Ponta Delgada.
