Star Inn Porto

Clean, budget hotel. The staff are very friendly and answer any questions you have at any time. The location is a 45 minute walk from the centre but there is a bus straight outside the hotel reception that takes you there in around 20 minutes for €2.50 each. The room was cleaned almost every day with fresh towels and bedding. The shower was amazing with good pressure and temperature. There is a TV with channels in English including movies and interesting TV shows, cartoons included for kids. If definitely return here.

The lighting is a little dull if you need brighter lights at night but honestly it wasn't a big deal for us.

The room was cosy and confortable. Having a free parking lot with available spaces is a very big plus for me. Overall, the hotel had a nice vibe to it.

The wifi was not very stable at times. The curtains could have a long hook attached to it for easier manouvering, since the window is unreachable because of the table right in front of it. The heater did not seem to work very well, I was unable to set a warmer temperature in the room. Also, there was a bit of noise in the corridor, not only from other guests talking, but also because the room was too near the emergency exit doors (which are loud).

I have an expensive car so a priority for me is easy and secure on site parking, which is why I chose this hotel and it did not disappoint. Spacious above ground car park with a number of extra large spaces - perfect. The compromise of course is the location - a bit out of the City centre, although there are buses, metro & taxi of course. I walked into town - only took an hour. The hotel generally was all good, helpful staff, comfortable rooms, decent breakfast - and all at a very reasonable price.

I have only marked it down slightly for location and facilities as there is very little in the way of amenities in close proximity. The hotel should use the breakfast area during the day, or perhaps just early evening, as a café area to provide snacks / light meals etc.

Clean, age is showing. Quietest stay I have had anywhere, soundproof is amazing at back of hotel. Staff friendly and very knowledgeable. Lots of parking, and bus to center of town right at the front door. Did not want.to drive the small streets and traffic, so great location for the bus.

Poor lighting in room. Breakfast was $9 and I only had yogurt & granola, with a coffee, too expensive. Okay if you eat a lot and have full breakfast

Nice orange decor, very friendly staff, very good value for money. Bus stop right outside the hotel, clean and comfortable, very quiet at night. Vending machines available, taxi booking service and details for sight seeing bus. Staff very helpful in explaining how to get the bus into town and provided face masks. Wi-Fi service was very good. We didn’t have food during our stay but looked like a good variety for breakfast each morning. mc Donald’s, Burger King and dominoes also a short walk away.

It was a little far out from city centre. hairdryer didn’t always work, only two usb plugs in room so not able to use hair straighteners- however these were only little problems. We didn’t have good

the accommodation is really clean and the staffs were friendly. the breakfast was better than my expectations and totally worth the value. it’s located near a bus stop to the center and airport

unfortunately the pillows were not comfortable at all, the room was so dark which is mainly due to the few lamps in the room! there wasn’t any plug next to bed and just a USB port which it doesn’t work!! the safety box was only a box in the closet without any locking or security!! surprisingly the door can open with flow of wind if it’s not locked

AC!!!! Arrived late and tired. AC was barely blowing any air out, and we were too tired to go to the reception and ask for another room, thinking we'll survive the night by opening a window. They had thick winter covers so we decided no to use the covers...until we were woken up by mosquitos. Barely had any sleep, and somehow managed to survive the night boiling under the covers. Reported the AC not working in the morning, they managed to fix it, but it was still bad. Found where the remaining mosquito was hiding, got rid of him/her and had a somewhat good night sleep. AC was working, but barely. Might suffice if you're not visiting in the summer, but the AC is not up to task (standard) during summer.

Convenient for parking and quite easy to spot for the road & get to. Clean, comfortable, functional budget hotel. Ideal for a stopover with everything you could need and lovely, helpful staff. Very good value for money.

Despite being easy to access from main roads, it was still a bit too far to walk into Porto. We called a taxi to take us into the centre & for the return journey at less than 10€ each way. Breakfast was adequate but quite basic.

I have stayed at the Star before so I know what to expect. The rooms are practical, the "optional extra" breakfast is a great value buffet and the staff are all helpful and friendly. Car parking is great, as is the wi-fi. I have walked on a couple of occasions from the hotel to the centre of Portugal and even on to Gaia (It takes 45 minutes or so) although I suspect most people would opt for an Uber or the bus, which stops right outside. here are a number of good restaurants within walking distance too. The airport is really convenient.

On this occasion whoever cleaned my room forgot to leave any toiletries, but everything else was OK. The Star doesn't have a restaurant for dinner, but a canteen used for breakfast. The only general complaint I would have about the Star is that there are quite bad spillages on the corridor carpets on a couple of floors that could be paint and tend to make the place look a bit tatty. I consider these to be maintenance rather than cleanliness issues. If they are not paint they should be cleaned. There are also other small maintenance issues in the rooms and common areas. Basically whoever is responsible for repairs isn't very good.

The hotel was as expected from a budget type business similar to say an Ibis group. Simple accommodation no frills but practical. It has is own car park, breakfast was good but not extensive we ate out in Porto and used taxis to get around they are cheap and plentiful.

There was nothing to dislike if you accept what was on offer for a very competitive price, the bar service was very slow as the staff involved were also carrying out reception duties. What would improve things would be if visitors signed in on line, some of the hotels we visited on our tour asked visitors to do this but didn't provide an electronic form to complete ahead of arrival
