Avlonya Hotel

The hotel is conveniently located close to Aksaray station where you can take a HVIST-12 bus that goes to the airport. The room was spacious, cosy, clean. Provided water was a nice touch. I didn’t get to use many of the facilities because I only had a single day stay and I left at 3 am.

I didn’t like that the hotel took my passport and didn’t say they would keep it before I pay. Good thing I noticed that I don’t have it and didn’t panic. They do give it back obviously, it would just be a good thing to know before hand.

It was easy to find the hotel from the airport bus stop at Aksaray metro station. It was a 10 min walk with my luggage. Taxi can find this place easily if I needed it. The room was on the 4th floor with some day lights (could see sky) but if it were on the higher floor, it would have been better. The room size was good as the hotel gave me a double bed (booked a single room) with a good size bathroom. Buffet breakfast had much more options than the other hotels I stayed before for the price. Elevator was useful and a folded duvet in a cover was also useful (not just a sheet). Nothing fancy but descent for the price. Air-con worked well.

The tile floor of the shower needed more cleaning as there were dark foot stains, which can be easily cleaned. It would be nice to have a small kettle for tea/coffee. I could hear some traffic noise/horns occasionally during sleep but that is normal for Central Istanbul.

Location was great. It was located in a not-so-touristy part compared to Sirdeci so some restaurants around the hotel was more "local" and cheaper. It is located near a metro station and tram station so its easy to go around. It is also a few minute ride from the important tourist sites. Staff are friendly and helpful. I loved the cheese "roll" served during breakfast, it was my favorite

Wifi was not readily offered and no electric kettle in the room. However, they can provide hot drinking water per request

Metro station just 2-3 minutes by walk, room is quite comfortable though. Parking in front is always busy so you need to leave your keys so they can move your car if someone wants to leave but in Istanbul parking is very important. Breakfast was ok nothing special but still very good. Would recommend this hotel definitely because its a good base for city discovering.

Nothing much, although the hotel is in some dodgy street (especially in night) it can seem on first that maybe its not safe to walk around very late but we didnt have any bad situations since we walked from metro station almost at midnight. Its quite busy area during the day because there is some kind of truck and bus parking behind the hotel but at night its calm.

I liked my stay in this hotel! The staff is very friendly and nice. I arrived in the hotel early in the morning after my flight and the reception helped me to check in earlier and offered me to have a breakfast. Although I booked a single room, I was given a 3 persons room that is bigger. The cleaning service was provided every day. The breakfast is decent. Fresh pastries, vegetables, different types of cheese, sausages, cereals, tea, and coffee. The location of the hotel is very convenient. You can get to the centre by foot in 30 mins. MTR and Tram stations are very close to the hotel. You can also get there from the airport by Havaist bus for just 52 liras.

This is not a big problem, but a caution for women, especially if you’re travelling solo. Although the location of the hotel is convenient, being close to the MTR and Tram stations, there are many shops nearby and streets are filled with men. It may not be safe to be out late.

When i first enter the hotel.... the staff already knew that i was coming and they immediately assisted me to my room... though i cannot speak turkish the smiles and gesture of the staffs made me comfortable enough.., everyday changing of linens and towels.and they wont touch your stuffs so it would be safe for you to leave important things in your room while you unmindedly roam around the city... breakfast is free and it is buffet style. and you can order your lunch and dinner ahead of time in a much affordable price !.... the staffs are at your service at all times.., the building may be old., but the important thing while travelling is to have a safe, comfortable and clean place to stay.

The staff were excellent, when I need help with some local questions and transportation. The location of hotel is good, you can reach most of the touristic places via Metro Station Yenikapi (Line M2 - goes to Grand Bazar, Galata tower, Taksim Square), which is in 2-3 minutes walking distance from hotel. Tram Station Aksaray (most of the lines go to Grand Bazar, Hagia Sophia, SultanAhment square, Gulhen Park, Topkapi, and ferry havens) is also 10 minutes of walking distance, but if you are tired you can again take the metro from Aksaray to Yenikapi and walk less. If you ask to take higher floor rooms you will have awesome view to the Marmara See and nice sunrise and sunsets.

AC in rooms were not enough strong to cool the rooms. The lowest value of AC was 61 F, however, during the day time that was not enough.

Breakfast was great and suited me perfectly, boiled eggs, feta cheeses, tomatoes etc...breads and cereals etc...more than enough and always plentiful ! Location was ideal for me 20 minutes walk your at the Grand Bazar and a little farther takes you to Sultanahamet Square. The metro is very near and taxis are readily available. I liked staying in a more local area as it is much more reasonable to dine out and supermarkets are cheaper also. I was a long stay and everyone made me feel very welcome and i loved that there was plenty of places to sit and relax on different floors. My room was great and very well cleaned daily and the ladies could not have been kinder, always making sure i had what i needed.

I would not of stayed at this hotel if I had any complaints ! I was more than happy for the very reasonable price.

The location is exceptionally great! The hotel is located in the Yenipaki district with the Yenikapi central port and station about 3 minutes away. Save money and use Istanbul's great public transport to reach here and navigate around from this hotel. They serve traditional Turkish breakfast every morning, which was good though it can become better with more options or at least different options every few days.

Nothing, for the price we paid we don't have any complaints!

5-star reception, restaurant and cleaning staff. They were extremelly attentive and caring, apart from helping with great English. The room was spacious, clean and with great views. Plenty of hot water and reliable wi-fi connection. The cleaning ladies used to leave behind drinking water and sometimes treats on a daily basis. Well done, neighbours!

In spite of the big non-smoking signs in corridors, I saw a big ashtray just under the sign with cigarrete buts inside. They should control that perhaps through the cleaning staff. Besides, walls between rooms are paper-thin, but the biggest issue was the noise from slaming doors at any time.
