Alton House Hotel

The staff are great. Friendly, professional and very accommodating. Tasty cooked breakfast and plenty of it! I had a double room, it was big, clean and the bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Perfect location for the train station, its less than 5 minutes walk. And I forgot my toothbrush, so really pleased there was a close by convenience store to sort that out.

The room was perfect for a one night stay though could do with a little tidying up in terms of broken glass in windows. Though for the price paid it was a comfy, large, clean room. I would definitely stay again. It's not a five star hotel and the prices are reasonable for this world, so don't expect perfect. What you can expect is a great team of people, lots of food and a comfy bed.

The staff were all lovely and I could not fault them, the room was just as the pictures,It's a lovely big hotel with alot of old features but also modern,The food was fantastic my husband rated it 10/10 for breakfast and i had a jacket potato the 1st evening and it was perfect

A bigger telly would make a lot of difference,I usually take my amazon stick every where but it was impossible to get in as it was the wrong bracket to hold the TV up,Although might I add it was perfectly secure,im disabled so I often sit in the rooms and rest.

The staff were all brilliant....especially Rob who looked after us superbly Nicole, David, Amy and Izzy also must be mentioned for their service and politeness .

Very disappointing menu....not what was expected from such a top class hotel. All the vegetables and chips subsequently proved to be frozen not fresh. We settled for Scampi and chips, and a Steak and Ale pie with mashed potatoes. My friend was then asked if she would have chips as there was no mash. When her meal arrived the pie was chicken and leek which she asked to be changed. The correct meal was served with apologies, but chips and vegetables were only warm, while the pie was burnt. . We were each given a glass of wine as an apology.

The room was large and comfortable and surprisingly quiet despite being on the front of the hotel. Breakfast was good and the staff very helpful. We had a small problem withour bathroom that was fixed with no fuss or drama - that is always a sign of a wellmanaged establishment.

The wifi in our room was very 'iffy'. It didn't spoil our stay, but I spoke to Reception about it when we were checking out and they explained that there is a planned upgrade coming soon.

Stayed for 2 nights as a couple whilst attending a friends wedding. Good sized, clean room. Well equipped with tea/coffee, TV, iron/ironing board in room. Good bathroom with full bath. Location right next to Alton station and taxi offices and free parking onsite so easy transport options nearby. Friendly staff and tasty buffet breakfast. Not a luxury property but had everything we needed, was good value for money and would definitely stay again.

The room was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was provided with a heated towel rack for that extra bit of comfort. Also right next to the train station so makes the stay very convenient.

Small complaint is the layout of the property is a bit weird. To reach my room I had to go up one set of stairs, through a door, down a set up stairs, through another door and then up another flight of stairs. That makes moving into the room with luggage annoying.

Beautiful location within easy reach of the train station and nearby amenities. Rooms were tastefully decorated with everything you could need for a stay. Friendly staff and always happy to help.

Our stay was wonderful, one little thing that our room would have benefitted from in a small fridge to store drinks in warmer weather but overall we couldn’t have asked for better.

Convenient to travel to Froyle park however there are very few taxi companies and the hotel helped secure a taxi at night although it had to come from Farnham and was expensive for a 10min drive. Good breakfast provided . Room was spacious

I had requested that staff helped my parents with luggage to room but this was not done. Presumed it go lost in noted

Loved downstairs room overlooking the garden. I enjoyed having a cup of tea at table outside my room while I worked. The staff were extremely nice and helpful even sending my phone charger back in the post.

The food could have been more tasty at our evening meal although we all 3 ate the same dish (Thai green curry) so there wasnt much to judge. Also I would have preferred to eat off slightly better quality cutlery which was definitely bottom of the range and reminded me of school. However the breakfast was very good.

As a woman travelling alone for work I always feel safe and relaxed at this hotel. Staff are friendly and kind and always accomodate my request for a ground floor room. This hotel has a warm and friendly feel and I like the ease of parking and the cleanliness. Breakfast is very good and hot with eggs cooked to order. Coffee was especially nice.

My shower was tepid but that may just be me not working it right !
