Raven Hotel by Greene King Inns

I was surprised by how comfortable our stay was. Friendly staff. room a fine size for two people. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean, nice crisp bedding and fluffy white towels. Tea and coffee making in the room. hair dryer, plenty of storeage. lots of hot water for a bath. It was also quiet, so had the best nights sleep. meal in the restaurant was very good too, and nice breakfast in the morning with plenty of tea and coffee. Very impressed and very good value.

A little slow at taking dinner orders. I am not a very big breakfast eater, only had some yoghurt and two strawberries, but still charged for a full continental. Husband had a full English that was very nice. Restaurant is showing signs of age in places. But I am being very picky, as there wasn't much not to like.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Very spacious with 2 double beds.

The skylight window in our room had a lot of dust around it which came into the room. I’d also recommended just putting a non slip shower mat in each room. They weren’t standard issue even though it’s a shower over a bath with no grip and signs state to use one and collect it from reception. Not ideal when your room is up lots of stairs and down many corridors and you have to take the little one all the way down and back up again!

Great alternative to staying in London when having to travel there for meetings. 5 minutes off the M3, right next to the train station (regular trains to London take 1 hour). Rooms basic but comfortable, staff friendly, pub adjoining where you can have a decent, reasonably priced meal and a drink (or there is a great Indian restaurant across the road). Free carparking if you register your vehicle at reception.

Location was just right. Staff were excellent. Bed was so big and comfortable.

No fan in room, it was one of the hottest days recently. We eventually got one at 11.30 at night. There was no extractor working in the bathroom making unbearable in the heat of the shower. The hot water VERY hot, although there is a sign saying hot water i think this is far too hot, i have fairly tough skin but even my fingers couldn't cope, dangerous for children. We went to book 2 nights that "Included breakfast" for £155 but when i went onto payment page the price changed to £171, the hotel said that was a "Booking.com error" and not their issue.

I was cycling the King Alfred's Way with 2 friends and the staff were completely unfazed when we arrived on 3 bikes and were very helpful in ensuring our bikes were safe and secure for the night. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and quiet. Check-in was quick and easy and the reception staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was in the main bar and was absolutely spot on - plenty of variety and very tasty. On the day we arrived we had a few (too many) drinks in the bar and sat out in the beer garden and had a great evening.

Not a grumble but more of an observation - my room was located at the back of the hotel up a number of flights of stairs and was quite a trek from reception. It wasn't an issue for me but if you have mobility issues ask for a room on the ground floor close to the reception.

Breakfast was good on selection and was well prepared and cooked. The room's beds are very good as are the facilities .

Breakfast not very hot when it arrived at the table. The coffee appears to be dying of weakness and is still foul. Our room was noisy early in the morning we will asked for a different room next time we stay. There were no instructions on how to set the shower leading to us both having either over hot or cold showers. By the second day we had decoded the multiplicity of knobs and dials to get it too work

All staff were polite welcoming and super efficient! Breakfast and evening meals were well prepared and and delicious! Rooms were clean and comfortable! From check in to check out the whole weekend was relaxed! Even the early morning fault with a fire alarm made us comfortable that we were in good hands while we slept as staff stayed up all night to ensure our safe sleep! Thanks to all at the Raven

Nice relaxed atmosphere and the booking in process was swift and efficient. Rooms and restaurant/ bar were spotless. Arrived for breakfast about 10mins before breakfast finished but the staff went out of their way to look after us. Bar staff were great as was the food. Bed very comfortable, rooms spotless and well equipped but may need a update in the next couple of years. Extractor fan in bathroom did not work. Booked in again for a two night stay. Regular Saturday night live music.

No complaints, just observations (extractor fan and start to think about updating rooms over the next couple of years for continued sustainability).

Breakfast was good and served by a helpful and cheerful staff. The room was very good and the beds nice and soft. Tea and coffee were provided. The staff, as always were helpful, and cheerful and made us welcome.

Breakfast: The coffee however remains virtually undrinkable. We tried it again because we thought it might be better than last time but no it is still awful. The shower in Room 3 could not be made to produce a medium temperature given it proved impossible to blend the hot and cold, producing only extremely hot water.

Good hotel for a one night stay near a party we needed to be at. The bar facilities and the staff were both good. The rooms are basic but sufficient. We were glad that the hotel had provided a fan as it was a hot night and there is no AC.

Rooms could do with refurbishing but the price reflects the current quality. Everything worked as required.
