Crowne Plaza Birmingham City, an IHG Hotel

Rooms were nicely decorated with a steardy bed. I like a hslighyly harder matrress, soI had a good night sleep. Breakfast was very good and so was the bar.The hotel was within walking distance of most locations. The room service was great and the quality of food was very good. The complimentary shower gels and shampoo was very nice and it was very pleasing to have an iron and ironing board in the room.

In my room 425, the view was limited to just the building adjacent. The bath was disappointingly small. Also, I'm sure an isolated problem, but my shower head attachment was broken from the pole so it couldn't be fixed this meant that you had to hold the shower head whilst showering otherwise a lovely bathroom.

We loved our stay in this hotel! We had to pay a little more than we usually aim for due to lack of availability on our date but it was well worth it. We were greeted at the door and shown to the reception desk where the member of staff was very pleasant and helpful. The room itself was lovely, very clean and comfortable. The location was great, just 5 minutes walk from the train station and close to the city centre. Overall we were very happy and impressed...and wished we could stay longer!

Nothing could have been better except perhaps the lift as it took ages to arrive each time we used it. Couldn't be avoided though I guess as there were signs up that a new lift was being installed so expect delays until October.

Very friendly staff at reception and particularly at breakfast

Thought the guy behind the bar was a little odd when I asked for a cocktail. Apparently cocktails aren't served after 10.30 and was a tad rude about it as if I should have been aware of it. He told me we dont serve alcohol after 10.30. He didn't offer anything else until I noticed someone having a beer and said. Can't I have a beer then. It was 11.15 but the lady in reception did say the bar is 24hrs and that was why we came back straight after the show. Rather than get a drink in Birmingham. Proberbly would stay again at the Crown but won't use the bar.

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish! Thank you. We were greeted at reception by Meg who was a delight, my son loved the activity pack - a great touch. The hotel was very welcoming, clean and so quiet which was amazing considering how many families with young children were there. The room was plenty big enough, the bed was massive, so I slept beautifully despite the wriggly boy! The additional extras were well considered, range of drinks and biscuits with bonus chocs too. Plenty of lighting and an extra seat to lounge in whilst he was sleeping. The temperature control was effective and curtains made it lovely and dark so we even got a lie in. Also a fridge and safe were available although we didn't use that or the TV. Breakfast was delicious, such a huge selection, we didn't know where to start and the breakfast staff were working their socks off for such a busy Sunday morning. Thank you and well done to the whole team. Everyone we met was polite, chatty and made us feel very welcome. A real pleasure to stay here. It was perfect for our evening trip to the arena, close to the station and the shops. Couldn't have asked for more.

Being really picky I hate it when the duvet is tucked under the mattress because then you pull all the sheet out too! But that's not particular to here, the bed was super comfy so only a minor irritation and easily fixed!

The staff were lovely, welcoming, friendly.

The ac made alot of noise and we had to move rooms in the night. We were waiting a while before we were able to move as the mos was busy dealing with an incident. We had a 2 month old and a 5 year old. Wasn't easy moving rooms as they were on different floors. Alot of hassle as kids were asleep. Staff compensated with a free drink each but was alot of inconvenience. Rooms were a bit out dated. Chairs are worn out and carpets too.

Wonderful place to stay and would certainly stay there again. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful at all times, it was clean and welcoming throughout our stay. The breakfast buffet was brilliant and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and attentive. Being able to relax with friends after the event we were there for was also a great way to end an evening.

Only thing I would have changed would be to put a mini fridge in the rooms - would have been nice to have some cold water/drinks during the night but this is all we could fault and a tiny gripe which would certainly not put us off booking again

Travelled from Newcastle for a concert and found the Crowne Plaza to be a lovely hotel. Staff all polite and welcoming, room was lovely and clean and the bed was sooo comfortable. Check out 12pm which was ideal for the morning after a concert / night out! :)

We found the parking situation to be very inconvenient, parking underneath hotel but was told they only had 50 allocated spots which were all booked out. After a 4 hour drive to then spend 50 minutes driving around Birmingham city centres one way system on Black Friday weekend looking for a different car park (5 minute walking distance from the hotel) wasn’t ideal. If only we’d been prior advised to pre book a parking spot for the hotels car park would have helped us massively and saved 3 girls a lot of stress and anxiety driving / walking in a dark unknown city.

Breakfast was excellent and the staff very warm and friendly. The room was neat and the welcome pack was ok. The location of the hotel was perfect.

Couldn’t have a bath as the bath tub had a bit of rust. Also I felt the communal carpet could do with some better looking carpet! Also didn’t like the old air conditioner in the room which made a lot of noise!

The hotel was very clean and well kept. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and great to deal with . The room was very neat and comfortable , breakfast was extensive and tasty .

We were charged £21 to park overnight , which was unexpected as the advert stated parking . really think it should be shown as parking for a charge, as this may well have meant I may not have selected the hotel originally when looking. Was very disappointed with this and was it not for this would have given the hotel a 10 rating.

Friendly staff Clean Quiet Good location in city centre Powerful shower

TV channels were all messed up, I couldn't even get BBC. Shower was great but the shower screen not big enough so water was getting on to the bathroom floor. I like a very small breakfast i can grab on my way out the hotel but the only option is full buffet. My friends said it was excellent but I'd like an alternative option like coffee and slice of toast without having to £14 - £16.50.
