The room was fabulous - it was very spacious and we absolutely loved all the accessories in the room ie the portable record player, old fashioned telephone, kitchen utensils, glasses, etc.

There was no water available when we got back to our room after going out & there was no message regarding lack of water and, therefore, we couldn't brush our teeth. There was still no water in the morning either!! We were unable to flush the toilet or make a coffee or tea. I rang reception & was then told that plumber had been called but hadn't arrived & had to go downstairs to collect bottle of water, but we had to leave without having a shower which was very extremely frustrating and not ideal & we have never experienced that before.

For the price, this is one of my favourite hotels and I would absolutely stay again. The location is a bit out of the area I normally stay in but was still in walking distance of the town centre and I reached absolutely everywhere with no issues at all and enjoyed myself. Checking in and checking out was very easy and they had other facilities on site that you can access. The room itself was spacious and like a little studio which was really good for the price (although I only stayed for 1 night). The bed was comfortable and due to the space you had the option of sitting down to read, using the kitchen area etc so for two people, there were spaces you could go to in order to do your own thing rather than just sit in bed like in some hotels. It was a little cold (described below) but overall, a very good hotel and I enjoyed my stay there as it felt a little more upscale than some of the budget hotels I've stayed in within the city centre.

The only thing that let it down was the lack of central heating. I'm not sure if that was normal but it was December and the radiator didn't work, there were two small ones that we could plug in but due to the time of year it didn't distribute much heat around.

The staff are absolutely fantastic and are a credit to the hostel. From checking in to checking out they were always so pleasant, welcoming and helpful. They also made THE BEST pumpkin spiced latte I have ever had! It is still a hostel so in shared rooms the bathroom facilities may not be the best (a little plain and outdated) but the beds are standard- comfortable and clean. The communal areas really make up for the bareness of rooms such as the lounge/cafe and the studio gym area! Overall it is brilliant option especially for solo travellers or if you are in a pinch and need accommodation quickly- the staff are always ready to help and are lovely!

The bathrooms need updating (it was a bit cold and the water didn't warm up very well) Maybe more signage around the area as it is a bit like a maze and signposts indicating unisex areas...etc would be massively helpful too!

Spacious room and bathroom. Comfy bed. I love the foyer bit, when you walk in your have the dining area, check-in, cafe and bar all in the middle. They warmed up the room for when we checked in.

Our room was behind the cleaning cupboard and one of the staff was banging about and talking loud/shouting. It woke us up about 8am. I politely told her that you could hear the sounds and that we got woken up by it, she apologized but did it again. The location was in a derelict kind of place so i suggest you don't walk it alone at night. It was about half an hour walk from digbeth.

Have stayed here a few times but this was my first in a shared dorm, room was big and have privacy with the curtains on the bed. Everything is contained in the bunk which is really nice, plug socket, light and storage cupboard all within your bunk, no need to leave things out in a shared space. Big bathroom in the room with a good shower. The staff are always incredible here, polite, helpful and personable every time. Location is good, 10/15 minute walk and you're in the city centre. Beds are always really comfy and a quiet location even on Fri/sat nights.

No complaints at all, exceeds expectations especially given the price.

Our second stay here and we would definitely stay again. Its basic but if you're not planning on spending a lot if time in your room its perfect and value for money. We stay in an ensuite double room. Always clean, comfy beds, excellent location for Jewellery Quarter and short walk to Central Birmingham. Nice decor. Staff are friendly, there's hot drinks available, also a bar but we've never used that so can't comment. Reception area really nice, small area selling vintage clothes and envirofriendly bits and bobs.

It's basic, there's no tea/coffee making facilities, this time our room didn't even have any hooks to hang clothes, no hairdryer, quite noisy outside if that bothers you. No parking, we usually park at Ludgate Hill which is 5 mins walk.

Perfect location, loved the decor, staff very friendly, bed was comfortable to sleep in. It was very easy to check in and out and the reception area always appeared to be staffed. The location meant it was very easy to get to the city centre and digbeth, which were just a short walk away.

We didnt dislike anything- we enjoyed our stay. The things that could have improved our stay would have been the staff giving more information about the other facilities within the hostel, and having a television in the room. It may have also been helpful to let us know it was a hostel, as it seems to be advertised as a hotel- though it was still a lovely place to stay.

The staff were amazing and definitely make the stay worth the money, so friendly and helped us out calling a cab and anything we needed to know. Especially Matt at the bar, super friendly amazing cocktails and even made us one out of the alcohol we liked, thank you Matt!. The vibe in the reception is like a cosy coffee shop vibe loved it, my sister and I played a game of Jenga whilst we waited for breakfast. The breakfast was really nice too considering it was included in the price of the stay. Around a 10 min walk from the centre, and a 15 min walk to the utilita arena too so the location is great.

The only thing I would change is the fact our room was really cold due to the fact there was one outside door open the whole time. But once we put the heating on in our room it wasn’t bad.

10 minute walk into the heart of town - we walked EVERYWHERE Can walk to the stations but with luggage, a quick Uber is better (less than £10.00) Great bars / cafes close but you need to fish some of them out Safe Staff did everything we asked and more - we changed room (just because of preference) and asked for a fan. They called a taxi for us when needed and gave great advise Great hub to meet people Relaxed Clean It was pricey when we went but that was because we booked late and it was the commonwealth games - cheaper at other times Included breakfast for us which filled us up till mid afternoon - continental but great Kettle available in the communal area Water dispenser so we filled up all the time - very handy You can buy travel essentials and snacks such as pot noodle - also drinks both soft and alcoholic Wellness and yoga centre but we didnt use it - too busy No fancy stuff - just a place to sleep, dump your stuff and relax down in the communal area (which we really enjoyed as a chill)

CHECK the room you book is what you want. We booked a triple bunk bed room - absolutely fine but when we got in it felt a bit too small for us so we upgraded to a double bedroom with an en suite and this was perfect - we were lucky with availability.
